Excellent performance, 60+ fps in 1080p on ultra. Steam Controller works perfectly.
Razer Deathadder v2 - mouse input was delayed and very uncomfortable with poll rate set to 500. After changing poll rate to 125 in openrazer's Polychromatic app, it works fine.
Extreme stuttering when first started, took an hour or two of playing to build shader cache.
Proton EasyAntiCheat runtime should be installed - can be found in Steam library for free.
Replace appinfo https://gist.github.com/pdfrod/e326c316426ced1d2abec86425443362
Runs perfectly, works fine with an Xbox 360 controller.
IMPORTANT: If you bought the game as a part of the Odyssey Gold edition, you need to start Odyssey first in order to activate AC3.
Runs well on very high settings, Steam Controller works out of the box.
There's an "unsupported driver" notification in the top right corner.
The game freezes everytime I open Steam overlay so I disabled it. Uplay keeps asking for password on each start even though I set it to "remember device"
Had to download Ubisoft Connect from ubisoftconnect .com, place it in "/Support/Software/GameLauncher" and rename it to UplayInstaller.exe to replace the bundled one
Needs extra work to make it work
Uplay has to be set to offline mode, then the game runs fine on medium settings in 1080p ~40 fps, Xbox 360 gamepad works.
Perfectly playable
Vulkan works great. Graphics set to maximum with 120fps cap. I recommend enabling FSR2 Ultra Quality even on high-end GPUs because it's the best AA method there.
Runs maxed out with high framerate but minimizing the game causes serious performance drop (from 150 fps to 50) then if I minimize it one more time the performance drop is even bigger (<15 fps).
Repeating sounds (loop shouting "FIRE FIRE FIRE FIRE..." etc..), crackling, loq quality
Usually crashes when minimized
The missing minimap makes the game unplayable and crashes don't help.
Missing minimap
Minimazing often leads to a crash
PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 mangohud %command% --launcher-skip -skipStartScreen
Ray Tracing doesn't work (the game simply crashes with VKD3D_CONFIG=dxr). I recommend PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 launch parameter for DLSS on compatible cards, helps a lot with performance.
Very low performance, barely playable in 720p low settings (drops below 30 fps), changing resolution causes performance collapse, unable to minimize the game (causes black screen), had to refund it.
Around 60 fps on high settings in 1080p with Vulkan, I did not test multiplayer. The game is playable, howewer minimizing it leads to a black screen. Dual monitor OK. Controller not tested. OpenGL not tested. What surprised me was that there is almost no FPS difference between low and high settings while the game doesn't seem to be CPU bottlenecked.
The game runs very well, occassional stutters happen due to shader compilation but that doesn't seem to be a Linux specific issue.
Runs maxed out in 1080p.
As long as there's enough of power and memory, this game runs very well.
Minimizing the game after it used all available VRAM (on high settings can use all the 6GB of my GPU) causes occassional performance drops which are permanent until the game is restarted.
Excellent performance, stabiility and everything. Works fine with two monitors, controller always gets recognized.
D9VK can double the performance
170 hours, as long as there's enough VRAM the game runs fine, hosting 10 hours long MP sessions with 3 other people worked perfectly.
A manual action is needed:
mv bin bin.bak ln -s DefEd/bin bin cd bin mv ./SupportTool.exe ./SupportTool.bak ln -s EoCApp.exe SupportTool.exe
Totally playable on ultra settings (50-60 fps), or high settings (60+fps), dual monitor OK, alt+tab OK, Xbox 360 wireless controller works but does NOT reconnect after disconnecting (requires restarting the game), the main problem is performance collapse (15 fps) after every save. Alt+tabing out and back usually helps but not always. Microstuttering from time to time.
Runs fine, playable on a 1660 Ti laptop on medium settings 1080p.
It's better to use FSR for more FPS even although for the cost of a bit more blurry quality.
140 hours, the game ran much worse a year ago but now it's very playable.
Fully playable online (the game is online-only), over 200 hours.
-dx12
mouse lags when aiming with built-in framelimiter enabled
Disable in-game framelimiter to avoid laggy mouse when aiming. If you need to limit FPS, do it via libstrangle or Mangohud, its much better.
Works fine with high performance.
Infinite loading in some missions which is a game bug not specific to Linux or Proton. Happens on Windows as well. If it happens to you, limit your fps to 30 or 60 (mangohud, libstrangle, vsync...) and try the mission again. Especially common in TBOGT.
Had to disable ESYNC. Runs in 1080p medium to high settings 40-60 fps. Textures are broken, anisotropic filtering doesn't work at all, anti-aliasing causes serious performane issues, minimizing the game causes crash. Dual monitor OK, Xbox 360 wireless controller OK but does NOT reconnect after disconnecting. GTA Online works but with much worse performance.
Runs fine maxed out in 1080p but occasionally crashes when leaving or entering a bulding. Custom radio works as well.
Just like native, this game runs perfectly. Finished in Proton on Linux in ~12 hours.
Drops to 20 fps in one location but the said location was very intensive and probably unoptimized.
The game now offers DX12 (VKD3D) as well but I was playing with DX11 (DXVK) as I found it to be the better experience than DX12. Steam Controller works perfectly, even though you might need to adjust sensitivity in .cfg files.
Offline mode works, game runs with low performance (30 fps low-medium settings in 1080p). Dual monitor OK. Minimizing the game can cause performance issues. Multiplayer doesn't work at all due to anti-cheat protection, that's the reason I'd rate it as "bronze" because this is a multiplayer game.
Nothing I tried (for example renaming the main exe file to the name of the launcher executable file) helped. No error, nothing happens.
Single-player crashes, multiplayer works fine (tested with a friend of mine who uses Windows). If you are going to only play multiplayer then it would be a "gold"-like experience. Howewer SP is broken. High settings 60+fps in 1080p. Dual monitor OK, alt+tab OK.
Nothing happens on the VR side. A window appears on the desktop but playing any video makes the app fail and crash.
Runs on Ultra at 100+ fps in 1080p but voice-chat is broken.
Voice-chat broken
PROTON_HIDE_NVIDIA_GPU=0 PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 mangohud %command%
I only played online for like an hour but didn't have any issues
DLSS can be enabled with the following launch parameter: PROTON_HIDE_NVIDIA_GPU=0 PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 %command%
gamemoderun VKD3D_CONFIG=dxr11 PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 mangohud %command%
The fact that nothing including resolution, fullscreen mode, sensitivity etc. can be configured, it's impossible to enjoy this game.
Impossible to change any settings in the menu, making it very hard to do anything with how the game looks and plays
Based on the Chainsaw demo
Runs great maxed out. Finished the whole game on Linux.
Ray tracing is disabled automatically if the game detects Wine.
Starts fine, lets me set gamma, informs me about DLCs, then closes itself.
No idea, I posted instructions how to run this game in case of this error here on protonDB but it was deleted, so ask the useless admin
VKD3D_CONFIG=dxr11 PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 gamemoderun mangohud %command%
Uses a lot of VRAM, it's good to disable shadow cache and lower texture quality on 6GB VRAM or less to avoid FPS drops that can happen when a new area is loaded or during VHS tape sessions.
VKD3D_CONFIG=dxr11 PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 gamemoderun mangohud %command%
Uses a lot of VRAM, FPS drops occur unless shadow cache is disabled and textures are set to "high 0.5GB" or less
Freezes very often, can't leave the first building because the whole game freezes and crashes
No audio unless custom launch parameters are set
Obejcts like grass and trees poping in and out even with all sliders set to max
Minimizing the game causes instant crash. Requires "steal my focus" Gnome extension to start on Gnome Shell, otherwise minimizes on start and crashes.
Minimizing the game causes instant crash. Requires "steal my focus" Gnome extension to start on Gnome Shell, otherwise minimizes on start and crashes.
The game runs on max settings, no crashes, no issues. Played in DX12 with VKD3D.
Besides broken listening mode and incorrect VRAM detection, I was able to finish the game on Linux, runs fine on high in 1080p.
Incorrect VRAM detected (8GB instead of 12). Listening mode didn't work at all.
The game runs fine, great performance, can be maxed out on a 7800 XT in 1080p even without upscaling.
40 hours played (almost finished Novigrad), the game run well on medium-high 1080p with AA, around 45 fps. Dual monitor OK, Xbox 360 wireless controller OK (also reconnects after disconnecting), SteamLink OK. Stable and playable.
protontricks to install d3dx9, otherwise the screen stays black
3 fps max regardless of settings, native version run more than 10 times better (40-50 fps). I was going to try the Windows version in Proton because native doesn't support cross-platform multiplayer but only the native version is playable
Literally 1 fps regardless of resolution or settings even though the native version is playable on medium/high.
Amazing performance, dual monitor OK, alt+tab OK, no issues. Multiplayer works fine.
Finished on Linux in Proton on the highest difficulty, excellent performance.
