Framerate goes down to 30 after interacting with a shrine, going to another location fixes it.
Shadows sometimes weirdly glitches out
A little stuttering, not really that bad
Great game👍
Native linux version is an absolute garbage. Use Proton
the game is fire tho
PROTON_SET_GAME_DRIVE=1 %command%
Open Protontricks and select Bayonetta Choose 'Select the default wineprefix' Choose 'Run Wineconfig' Go to Drivers tab Add a new driver (D: for example) Select your new driver and show details In path input, paste the path to your Bayonetta game ex : /home/myprofile/.steam/steamapps/common/Bayonetta Apply and quit Enjoy(worked for me)
Thanks @Blazkowicz for the original guide!
PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 gamemoderun %command%
The guides here on how to make a game launcher work are kind of messy, so here's more detailed and easy guide on how to fix a launcher just showing a black screen(worked for me):
• Open Steam library
• In search bar(top left corner) type "proton"
• It will show you the list of different protons, we need to choose "proton experimental"(click on it)
• Tap on a gear button(right side of the screen) and choose "Properties..."
• In Properties click on 'Betas' category and there you need to choose "bleeding-edge - latest.." version of proton
• Close properties and update proton.
(and of course dont forget to choose proton experimental in Black Desert
s compatibility settings)
gamemoderun SDL_VIDEO_MINIMIZE_ON_FOCUS_LOSS=0 %command%
without SDL_VIDEO_MINIMIZE_ON_FOCUS_LOSS=0 the game will randomly minimize
cs was obviously not optimized for linux/vulkan at all
Multiplayer DLC works with no problems.
gamemoderun mangohud %command%
Fps is really unstable and can vary from 60-120 in most locations and 30-45 in cutscenes
gamemoderun %command%
Game starts to freeze when you first load up the location
gamemoderun %command%
great experience
The game crashes with no proton or proton-GE8-30, Experimental Bleeding edge seems to fix it. All setting are working and the "game" runs smothly. Have to close the game from Steam everytime i try to exit it.
DXVK_FRAME_RATE=60
Uncapping fps will crash the game eventually
It honestly surprises me how backwards compatibility in wine is much better than window's is, you can freely alt+tab, switch audio sources, shut down the game properly(unlike win11), and it only gets better. I can say that this is the most stable experience i've ever had with a fallout game on linux.
gamemoderun %command%
Framerate always around 50-60, not a single glitch or crash in 50+ hours of gameplay and it works considerably better than on windows.
The game just doesnt start, tried all the tinkering and guides here nothnig worked
DXVK_FILTER_DEVICE_NAME="NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti Laptop GPU" gamemoderun DXVK_FRAME_RATE=60 %command%
On the first startup the game is set to 1920x800, i didn't really have any problems with fullscreen but it is still recommended to switch to borderless.
Micro stuttering. Micro stuttering and micro stuttering. The only solution to this problem is to get used to it.
The game does not shut down properly
if you are running a system with an iGPU enabled you WILL NEED this launch option: DXVK_FILTER_DEVICE_NAME="Your Actual GPU here" %command% , otherwise the game will run at 15-20fps.
I recommend limiting fps to 60 because the trash engine this game uses is not designed to run at more than 60 frames.
The only real difference between running this game on windows is stuttering, it is unpleasant at best and under some circumstances its just borderline unplayable.
Looks like trash, runs like trash. Certified Bethesda classic.
The game is capped at 30fps
Other than that everything works as it should
(Wine-GE-8-26)
gamemoderun %command%
The game can just not launch
First startup can take minutes, if it launches at all. It really depends on your system(or the game just doesn't like my hardware)
I don't recommend playing on the native version if you want to use a controller (it just doesn't connect for some reason)
PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1 %command%
is seems that gamma jumps from bright to dark every 2-3 minutes
cannot launch game in the fullscreen, only in exclusive
around 50fps in the main menu, in the game fps seems fine
i somehow get to choose (in hob launcher) Gtx 470(i have rtx 3050) without it i was getting vc runtime error
gamemoderun %command%
sometimes audio completely bugs out but it seems to be a server problem
some minor fps drops are present but they're barely noticeable
PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 gamemoderun %command%
Proton-GE version works slightly better
On medium-high settings frame rate is really unstable (can go from 80 to 30 in a few seconds)
Multiplayer works flawlessly, no lags or any other problems
gamemoderun %command%
Every 30-60 minutes the game hangs itself and my whole system, with or no Proton.
Framedrops on killing enemies and in certain animations
Haven't had any experience with this game on windows, so can't say if it runs better or not
gamemoderun %command%
dx12 = stuttering
vulkan = worse performance
pick your poison
The game runs great and all but crashes.. They are like a game of russian roulette, basically loading anything can crash the game AND my whole PC (i seem like the only one with "crashing my whole pc" problem). I like linux, but this is just unbearable to play on since the game doesn't have the autosave feature...
changing proton versions too much can cause a problem with license activation (fortunately you can wait for 12-24 hours for the game to "revalidate" your purchases)
Minor fps drops in some locations, otherwise works great.
Wine-GE-Proton8-26
Pretty enjoyable but occasional stutters ruin the rythm all the time
Other than stutters and god awful wine explorer the game is more than enjoyable
(Wine-GE-8-26)
A bit of stuttering from time-to-time but its barely noticeable. Still enjoyable, great game👍
_GL_THREADED_OPTIMIZATION=1 DXVK_ASYNC=1 PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 gamemoderun %command%
Multiplayer lobby won`t create or launch (seems to be a proton problem)
Works fine, no problems at all, had no issues playing with xbox controller
DXVK_ASYNC=1 gamemoderun %command%
slight stuttering from time-to-time
People who had problems with cutscenes PROBABLY played demo version or used old version of proton. Proton-GE9-2 works just fine.
A little stuttering when teleporting from one location to another
PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 gamemoderun %command% ‑USEALLAVAILABLECORES -vulkan
Performs 15-20fps poorer than on windows even with DLSS enabled(performance preset)
Online works with no problems(mods too). But overall performance is very bad, for example i was getting around 80-90fps on windows 10 with high graphics presets and no DLSS, while on linux im getting around 45-60fps on medium preset with vulkan shaders(+DLSS).
Cannot start a dedicated server from game files, just throws an error.
Hamachi all the way
Performs poorer than on windows, 45-55fps on high preset and 60fps on medium
gamemoderun %command% RADV_PERFTEST=gpl %command%
"stable" 60-70 fps with freezes when loading location or just turning the camera around, not really enjoyable(compared to windows), but playable
slight stuttering, not really a problem
OpenGL version completelly removes stutters but caps the game at 60fps.
Mods work.
fps drops drastically if too many light sources are in your view
overral performance is much better than on windows
fullscreen is not "fully full", maybe it's a gnome specific issue but you can still see the upper panel
the game randomly hangs
just use proton
WINE_CPU_TOPOLOGY=4:0,1,2,3 gamemoderun %command%
Multiplayer works flawlessly, no problems encountered
performance does not really differ from windows's(fps is even better in some areas), but the loading times is awful compared to windows
Game runs perfectly, bad that the game servers are down, but thats not a linux-side problem
gamemoderun %command%
The game runs flawlessly at around 200fps
Controller and the vibration works.
PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 gamemoderun DXVK_FRAME_RATE=144 %command%
some minor flickering may be present(depending on your settings). Vsync is shit, as always.
overall performance is amazing
gamemoderun %command%
alt+tab(ing) 3 or more times in fullscreen causes the game to just hang, switching to borderless fixes it.
Works on gnome just as great as on KDE
Unfocusing the game hangs it immediatelly, regardless if its fullscreen or borderless
20-30fps if you turn SSAO on
Had to verify integrity of game files every now and then because of (possibly) missing cutscenes and if the game tries to load said missing cutscene it will crash immediatelly without any error messages/logs to look at.
awful game port
solid 120pfs, controller vibration is really strange compared to yakuza 0 but i guess its just a game thing
gamemoderun %command%
strange effects around hair, especially kiryu's hair
heavy stutters in open world(city) and cutscenes, not really enjoyable unless you get used to it.
