Plays as well as on Windows, which is pretty well. Battery life isn't the greatest, though it can hold 60 FPS without issue.
Audio volume in pre-rendered cinematics is low and unbalanced, with dialogue being difficult to hear.
There is significant stuttering during pre-rendered cinematics, especially during Elena's scenes. This is caused by poor encoding and occurs on Windows as well.

gamemoderun %command%
The game runs flawlessly at around 200fps
Controller and the vibration works.
Works out of the box

Reduced refresh to 40hz, no FPS cap. FPS could be dropped to 60 or 40 for better battery life.
Works perfectly fine

Ran perfectly in windowed mode
It had several different glitches in fullscreen (forgetting settings upon game restart, not displaying) switched to windowed and no issues now.
All in all no issues once I switched it to windowed mode.
An excellent port from the Xbox360/PS3 era, constant 60 fps during gameplay, fast paced combat and snappy movement
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
Without those commands, the game shaders are broken, resulting in glitched graphical artifacts all over the place
It has a few slight performance problems, but definetly not a deal breaker. Played the entire game and had a fantastic experience.
mangohud %command%
The game will drop frames (for what felt like 10-15 seconds) at a few particular sections, which I suspect is mainly related to loading. It happened aproximately 15 times in total, 4 of which were during combat, but wasn't low enough to render the game unplayable.
I didn't do any challenges.
Works perfectly out of the box. Totally recommended game from the X360/PS3 Era. Usain Bolt meets Gears of War, on steroids.
30 Fps cap and TDP to 8W
Runs perfectly OOTB.
Game runs with zero issues OOTB.

Runs poorly
Poor performance
Game works fine out of the box. The average gamer wouldnt notice the difference between linux and windows
Had trouble tabbing out while using i3 window manager.
The game has some issues when trying to tab out in a window manager and subtitles seem to only work in cutscenes but besides that everything works perfectly.
Works good
Played with Proton 7.0-1.

I can't say if it just happens under Linux but the cutscenes are a bit quiet in comparison to normal gameplay and the music can drown out the voices at times.
When I had set the shadows on "High", the game ran abysmal with FPS constantly under 15. Putting shadows on the next lower setting "Normal" allowed for smooth gameplay at 60+ FPS.
Apparently not all motion blur effects are off when disabling it in the settings, so I added "-extendedmotionbluroff" to the launch parameters as well as "-fastvisor" to counter slowdowns in the visor sections of the game. Link to the source
Launch options:
%command% -extendedmotionbluroff -fastvisor
Played through the entire campaign, saw the end credits. No problems.
It worked perfectly,I cloud see the ending.
Linux is free, and some distributions are optimized for gaming.
Did not start for me at all with Proton GE Versions, only with the ones provided by Valve.
But with them, it worked perfectly out of the Box!

6.14-GE-2 GloriousEggroll
Highest Shadows setting drops fps 80->20, Normal runs fine. I assume game needs more vram.
Check out pcgamingwiki for launch options.

Just about runs perfectly, no major issues.
The audio volume of cutscenes is quiet, sometimes being drowned out by whatever background music is playing. Enable subtitles in case any dialogue is hard to hear.
Alt-tab does not work in fullscreen mode (at least in Linux Mint Cinnamon), however it works fine in windowed and borderless mode.
On every launch the game defaults to running in a minimized window, regardless of what your settings are. If you want to run fullscreen or borderless you'll have to set that in the graphics options on every session.
All other settings appear to work and save normally.
Completed full playthrough, no crashes and perfect performance (no lag or stutter) with graphics options maxed out at 1080p/60Hz. Keyboard + mouse and gamepad controls both work great.
Works out of the box with Proton 5.13-6 with only some minor inconveniences.
I don't know if it's a Linux specific issue, but in 4K resolution the game doesn't display correctly. Everything except the HUD is blurry. Looks like this: https://ibb.co/vv9ZQLZ In lower resolutions there are no issues.
The game always starts in windows mode and you manually have to set it to full screen regardless of the settings in the game's graphics options.
Sometimes the character just refuses to shoot for seconds. I don't know if it's a general bug or a Linux specific. It's rare, happened around half a dozen times over my 7.5hrs playthrough.
Like others have mentioned, the launch option %command% -fastvisor fixes the visor cutscene speeds.

Audio is low on cutscenes. But it seems to happen on Windows as well.
To get the visor cutscenes running at full speed, you have to add the parameter -fastvisor on the Launch Options (e.g: %command% -fastvisor). Source: https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Vanquish#Slowdown.2Flow_framerate_during_the_visor_cutscenes
Runs like a champ on proton experimental

Flawless with latest Proton 6.x
Use launch option "-unlockaspectratio" to enable other screen sizes.
Used various combinations of Proton versions including disabling Esync and Fsync, as well as Wine D3D. Performance problems all around.
FPS constantly dropping down to the 30s and 40s.

Literally perfect; plays just as well as native, with some situational improvements over native.
Really not much to say. It's a hidden gem of a game, plays at full frame rate or better. Go play it.
Proton revision: Experimental (3-18-21)

Played with Proton 5.13-5 and PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
fps drops in some situations/areas which shouldn't happen for a 7th gen console game
4.11-13 works for this manjaro system. Newer versions used to work but now do not so beware some inconsistency there.
Crashed twice one day. No problems after restarting my machine.
