Game runs like butter with no headaches
Crossplay works Beautifully
Works wonderfully
Press play and forget you're playing on linux, runs great.

5 watts TDP is the limit for not affecting performance.
The default gamepad settings are trash, set it in the game settings, not in Steam Input

prime-run %command%
never buy nvidia optimus laptops for linux usage

Yup
Yup
Works perfectly.

SDL_VIDEODRIVER=wayland %command% /gldevice:Vulkan
Using SDL_VIDEODRIVER=wayland fixes input issues and /gldevice:Vulkan switches from OpenGL to Vulkan.
Killing the Moon Lord without any bugs

NixOS requires dotnet-sdk package to run:
Exiting from the game whilst fullscreened would sometimes cause a full system crash. I just use windowed mode now. This might be a NixOs or PaperWM issue.
NixOS requires dotnet-sdk package to run:

gamemoderun %command%
feels choppy because of inconsisted frametime
frametime issues
SDL_AUDIODRIVER=alsa gamemoderun %command%
Audio didn't work, does require sdl3 launch option
SDL_VIDEODRIVER=wayland
The native version kept resetting KWin graphics. Swithing to proton fixed this.

Played multiplayer without any additional setup. Cursor is slightly blurry on HiDPI display.

10w TDP limit
No issues or lag at all
TModloader also runs flawlessly with little to no stutters.
Bugged when you launch it directly, use proton experimental to play

Thank you to devs for making it work great on Linux :D
Didnt try multiplayer, but it runs well on my old laptop

Works Flawlessly

Flawless native linux experience
I am able to join others via steam and ip without issue.
In addition, I host a multiplayer server for my friends on another linux box, and have run into no issues connecting/hosting on it.

Runs fine in windowed mode
Annoying flickering in fullscreen mode
Fullscreen mode starts to flicker annoyingly after some time. Windowed mode runs fine. Just hide window borders through window options, depending on your DE.

Game runs fine. Even played with a world saved on the Steam Cloud back in 2014 while i was still using Windows 7.
As Todd Howard would say: It just works

slight unexplainable slowdowns when running thrugh a world without speed enhancing footwear
all problems are Steam-Overlay related.

gamemoderun %command%
No problem, works perfectly!

GAMEMODERUNEXEC=prime-run gamemoderun %command%
UI Scale is set lower than it should be by default, but it can be remedied in the game settings.
Game is offset upwards, leaving a black bar at the bottom and cut off screen at the top.
Tinker options are so it runs better on my computer but not necessary

AWFUL UI SCALING!!!
TO MAKE UI BIGGER GO TO GENERAL SETTINGS THEN UI SCALE
Played with friends completely fine

Works perfectly
Occasional system wide freezes on wayland
The "Volcano" sword had an inconsistent hitbox, the visuals did not match the hitbox, but the particles did

Game seems to run worse on Linux Mint both with the native and proton versions than it did back on Windows, but it is still very much playable and enjoyable
Modern version (Latest) works perfectly fine online but do note that the old versions v1.0.6.1 "Undeluxe edition" and v.1.1.2 "First Final Update" do not have native linux support and online play does not work when using proton

Switch to Proton if you experience any input issues. I could not tell any other differences between native and Proton.
Would not detect side mouse buttons on native. Switching to Proton fixed that.

Game runs perfectly fine out of the box
Works perfectly out of the box - tested on 2 Thinkpads and a Steam Deck
singleplayer runs native without any issues and actually runs better in linux than in windows for me

If you enjoy playing Terraria on Windows then don't worry about any problems because it runs the exact same on Linux
I was able to play multiplayer without any noticeable lag or problems
