i had to change proton to Proton GE 8-3, trying to open the game with normal proton, will just show the splash but the game crashes instantly. Using GE 8-3 fixed this to me, and i started playing the game without problems.
Its playable in Proton 3.7-8
I lost my saved data.
There is a lot of lag With Proton Experimental
I suggest using the open source engine Arx Libertatis for a better experience.
It works fine
at the first start after clicking the start game button it showed me a black pop up, after clicking randomly on the pop up it closed and let me play the game.
the game runs very well out of the box.
I had to disable DXVK-NVAPI via Heroic Games Launcher and use Proton GE, otherwise, the game will freeze at start.
Singleplayer works as it should, multiplayer wont work.
The game wont close properly, i had to stop it from steam every time i closed it.
Unplayable, i tried to play online with a friend by using hamachi, we couldnt join to the game.
-novideo
When alt tabbing, the game crashes, to fix this its better playing on Windowed mode.
Game freezes on the first cinematic, i had to use -novideo , to play the game.
The native version works as intended.
I love this game, and it is indeed , easy to run as a linux user.
My old pc ran the game using windows just fine, but the same pc with linux, under proton ge, runs the game very bad, with some crazy lag peaks, even after tinkering with esync fsync wined3d etc...
Out of the box works fine.
It works just fine, started playing with Proton Hotfix, then changed to Ge 9. And finally Proton experimental , it works very well with them

Some cracking on Halo 3 ODST when there is a lot of explosions, this doesnt happen with the other games.
Sometimes after alt tabbing on exclusive fullscreen the game might crash. I suggest using windowed borderless to avoid this.
Whe the game wasnt fully installed it was buggy after finishing or pausing in a matchmade game, for some reason the post carnage screen didnt show , so the menu was totally buggy i needed to restart the game to play more games. This was fixed after completing the installation of the 6 games, now it works just fine, shows the post carnage results and lobby, and pausing in game doesnt bug the menu.
The only problem i had was the buggy menu, but it was fixed after completing the installation.
It works out of the box, it can be played online without problems.
Game has a lot of graphic glitches, making it unplayable...
Without thinkering its unplayable out of the box. But using the open source engine UHexen2, fixes that.
i tried to play it with different versions of Proton, including experimental, but the game freezed at a black screen always, tried to play it with Proton GE 8-3, still didnt work, but i changed to Proton GE 9-27, and the game worked, alt tabbing works and it is playable.
The game runs very slow without the proper thinkering, so a typical linux gamer that doesnt know how to thinker, would not enjoy it...
gamemoderun %command%
A lot of input lag.
The game runs at 15 fps , even at the lowest graphic config possible.
It can be played online but, the game runs very slow!
The game is technically unplayable, it runs at 15 fps max to me, and with a lot of input lag.
It works
Using my Intel UHD the game didnt load, but using my NVIDIA it worked very well.
Changing in game settings to software rendering fixes graphic glitches.
Creating an account , and online playing works as it should.
Without changing the rendering to software, the game will look very glitchy, making it impossible to play without modifying that setting.
It works very well.
Online accounts work as intended.
While it works fine, in my opinion a better way to run this game is by using "Bolt launcher", you can find it on flathub, it is a better experience especially since it uses the Open Source client "RuneLite", a better way to play this game on Linux.
Both games work like a charm.
Pso2 and PSO2 NGS, work very well out of the box. After clicking start game it shows a black window to me, probably a splash that shows that the game is loading, but after that it loads , and plays without problems, im using an account i have on console with 200 hours of gameplay, and it log ins correctly and playing online works as it should on both games.
After reading other Protondb reviews, i saw that using ProtonGE improves the performance, that is indeed true, i started playing with Proton Umu, but it has worse performance than Ge, so i suggest using Proton Ge. It also fixes other problems like the Splash screen not showing. So far the experience is really good.
gamemoderun PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
The game has some bugs when loading, it shows my desktop for a while it looks seizure inducing in my opinion , then it loads the game.
looks like a save game got corrupted, and when loading it the game crashes, i tried to load another save game, and it loaded like it should, so i suggest saving often on different savefiles to avoid this.
the game text will be unreadable using normal proton or proton ge, but using proton experimental fixes it. I played the first level without problems with Proton Experimental, trying to launch the D3D executable shows an error that says , Could not initialize 3-D graphics, so the only way to play it is by using the normal executable.
Sadly the music is missing, so the only things you hear are the ambient and other sounds, the voices work as they should. 3d acceleration options arent available.
Gore looks weird, the gibs are glitchy and the bodies are intact, the power "locusts" doesnt show the locust Malachi throws, just small glitches that dont affect gameplay.
Alt tabbing always crashes the game.
this happened to me once, i saved from the menu and that savegame got corrupted, using quicksaves (with f5 to save and f6 to load) worked for me as it should.
Sometimes clicking control configuration crashes the game, but its too uncomon.
I had fun playing the game from start to finish, the main campaign can be played without problems (like crashes or freezes that dont allow to finish the game) , the only way to run the game is by using Proton Experimental, i tried running it with Proton ge and normal proton, but it didnt load or the text was buggy.
Works fine
Runs very bad with Nouveau Drivers
Works.
It looks like it doesnt use my Nvidia, so on high graphics it runs very slow.
Works very well
When playing with nouveau Drivers the game was running very slow, changing to proprietary Nvidia drivers fixed this to me.
It works
lost save game
The game works with proton, but with my specs it doesnt work very well
The Windows version works out of the box.
Since i have the steam flatpak, i couldnt play the game on .appimage, so i installed the Windows version, and it works fine.
Sadly the music is missing. It wont work
without music it doesnt feel like the full System Shock experience in my opinion, but the game runs well in other aspects.
The Windows version works very well without problems, but for a better experience i suggest using the open source engine "OpenMW".
I tried Local play with a friend using an xbox controller, and it works fine.
On old pcs , is better to use Wined3d to improve performance.
A great experience.
The game crashed one time when i alt-tabbed, i suggest playing on windowed.
It works well, just dont alt tab while playing.
When alt tabbing the game bugs, so i need to restart it.
Won't work.
I installed the KDE Plasma Plugin to load the Wallpapers, but it only worked for Video Wallpaper type, not with Scenes or web wallpapers.
It doesnt work out of the box, it requires a KDE Plasma plugin to work, but it makes the system slow and all the wallpaper types does'nt work.
