-novideo
When alt tabbing, the game crashes, to fix this its better playing on Windowed mode.
Game freezes on the first cinematic, i had to use -novideo , to play the game.

-windowed
Installed mf (MS Media Foundation) via Protontricks to fix ingame videos
Game plays well so far, just wanted to add the fix for in game video as I have not seen it listed.

So the issues seem to be fixed in latest Proton 9.02(Beta) works out of the box. For cutscenes to work there needs to be no gamescope installed, gamescope messes with this game's cutscenes and causes other glitches.

PROTON_FORCE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE=1
Right click in Steam Properties> General> Compatibility>Force the use of a Specific Steam Play Compatibility Tool>
Select and Install Proton Version 6.3.8 for all three games
-novideo -windowed

-novideo PROTON_FORCE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE=1
If using Fedora with NVidia, make sure that your NVidia drivers are active! (Fedora is known to occassionally bork them during kernel updates). Reinstalling drivers helped in my case.
Game does not launch on Proton 6, 7 and 8, even with suggestions from other users.
-novideo
-windowed
Needed to add windowed launch option, because input would not work on Steam deck.
-novideo
Crashed every minute or so. Had to put wine in Win7 mode. Runs perfect now
Crashed super often without changing Wine windows version
Download install did not start. New install from old Windows backup triggered an download. No problems since, runs as expected.
Seems to work great
Some flickering shadows. Intro video is black but can be skipped with ESC
-novideo

I had to revert to proton 4.2-9 and used -novideo as launch option

Add -novideo to the launch options. Disable high resolution textures within the game to avoid out of memory errors.

To start the game, -novideo has to be added to the start options. With Proton 3.16-4 I had crashes sometimes (not often) when the game loads a new area --- sometimes the progress bar freezes, sometimes the game crashed with an out of memory error. So I switched to Proton 3.16-6 Beta and added PROTON_FORCE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE=1 to the startup command line. Now the game runs perfectly.

Just add -novideo
to the launch options and it runs perfectly!

right-click on game in Steam left column > click properties > set launch options... > paste in "-novideo" without the quotes.

Shortly after startup appears an error message: nDShowServer::PlayFile(): Could not render file 'Z:/home//.steam/steam/steamapps/common/Drakensang/export/data/movies/intro_16_9.mpg'

Pops up a message about not being able to play an intro video and hangs after that
