Great game, plays smooth, no issues.

Playable, but frequent fps drops can be annoying.
The game is playable if fluidity is not a priority for you. You may notice problems with it and frequent stutters, especially in open locations.

Works.
It looks like it doesnt use my Nvidia, so on high graphics it runs very slow.

Works Good
Minor fps drops

Fixed Nvidia issue where game stutters whenever player moved around the world by adding: nvidia-drm modeset=1 to /etc/modprobe.d/nvidia-options.conf
Refer to Debian Nvedia Wiki before making these changes.
Miner Frame drops
Subject to Hardware (Nvidia)

Все шикарно, как в старые добрые
Я не помню было ли это на винде но персонаж когда нажимаешь куда идти начинает идти с задержкой.
Works Great

Buff / Debuff text, item stack numbers, UI text, and tooltips can be difficult to read.
Frames can micro dip down even if you're in an area with no other players and very little going on, performance is acceptable regardless with the only activity I would recommend not participating in on the Steam Deck being High-Risk PvP.
Works great out of box. No tinkering required for me to play.

As the game is a MMORPG it revolves around exploration which is extremely difficult with the constant stutters when moving.

Activities such as bank standing are usually fine, walking around the world such as Draynor Village (walking between the loadstone and bank) the game experiences major stutters lasting over seconds at a time, even on absolute minimum graphics.
Standing in one area of the game works fine, however moving around the world such as from the Draynor loadstone to the bank experiences major game stutters lasting seconds at at time.
Judging by reports from other people of the game, the issues could be attributed to the lower specs of my ~3+ year old low to mid grade laptop.
I have tried proton experimental, 9, 8, and 7 with 7 having the shortest stutters but still very bad. Other command line options provided by other users were unsuccessful aswell.

Using the "pinch to zoom" gesture on the trackpad (at least under Wayland) causes the launcher to freeze; only fixed with a reboot
During the first openings it was slightly unstable. No issues afterwards.

Works really well out of the box
When logging in, the game may ask you to set your date of birth (in the case of a new account). When you click "Set date of birth", it may seem like nothing happened in the game. However, Alt + Tab out of the game and you should see the Runescape website open in your default browser with the option to set your date of birth. Once you do this, the website will try and fail to redirect you to the game. In this case, just restart the game and login and it should work.

Recommended to use mouse and keyboard docked.

Crashes when opening the world map or when using teleport spells
The Zink Mesa driver is required for better performance. There is a "native" Linux client, but it seems to be using Proton either way. The native version crashes every time you use a teleport spell. On Proton Experimental, it crashes less often, but they still happen frequently.

Set the back grip buttons to Backpack, skills, equipment and map for easy access.
Some menu options can be a bit small to read.
Every 2 log in's or so it changes back from full-screen to windowed. Easy fix of just selecting windowed and fullscreen again.
Text input with the virtual keyboard was quite laggy. Sending messages is very slow, even selecting an amount of GP to take out can be slow.
I'd recommend playing RS on the Deck for easier AFK tasks like skilling. You can use it for combat and questing, but I wouldn't do anything difficult just due to the inpercision of the trackpad and using abilities. But with the ability to fully customize the UI, it really works wonders.

Game runs insanely smooth with the launch command. Can't even believe it! Brand new experience to be honest. Recently switched from Windows to Nobara Linux.

when accessing account settings it crashed
worked well except the usual runescape lag which is normal
Played on Debian 12 Bookworm. Nvidia Laptop users use the launch command above.

Modified keybinds to my preference.

RuneScape always lags. just the game itself

No issues at all, installed via steam and run perfectly
Traversing the map is extremly laggy no matter the settings
I stick to 40 FPS on this game for more battery life
The game starts windowed, and its default windowed resolution is not the correct size. To fix this, open RuneScape from the desktop mode and use the right click option on your taskbar to enlarge the runescape window to borderless fullscreen. (this is different than maximizing the window or enabling in-game fullscreen) then close the game. Now launching from steam will cause the game to select the correct resolution.
Fully supported, very stable
I have tested breifly on the default proton and it works, but the bulk of my hours come from Proton experimental.

World pings are shown, world hopping works
With a 6600 XT and Mesa 22.3.1, running RS through Zink gives notably higher FPS than through just OpenGL. The native Linux client randomly crashes for me, but the Windows client through Proton (Experiemental) is 100% stable.
Occasional crashes at the highest graphical settings, lowering the graphics settings a bit seems to have largely solved it. Crashes still happen sometimes now, but they are rare enough to not impede gameplay.
Works fine with Proton-GE and lower-than-maximum graphics settings.
Ran great out of the box. No tinkering needed.
At the moment, given the frequent random crashes, I can't recommend playing through Proton. I will update this if it changes.
It seems like every other major update to RuneScape breaks Proton compatibility. For the last six months or so, it's worked great on Proton 7.0.x, but for the past couple of weeks I've run into the same constant random crashes I used to experience.
If only they'd add Steam integration with their (already existing) Linux client... The native Linux client works great, why can't they just incorporate this directly into Steam???
Text and chat distorts (size of box) and stays when returning to PC mode clients
Distortion of set up box sizes
If cache is not complete the client just closes no errors
Cache related and Wars retreat seems too much
stable FPS at 97% rate IMO
A lot of control remapping is necessary to use steam deck controller. Frequent crashes to desktop are a major annoyance.
40hz/fps. Limited to 10w
Game always starts in windowed mode and must be manually switched to fullscreen upon launch
Random crashes to desktop every 10-15 minutes, sometimes more frequent. Applies to all usable proton versions.
Just use Proton TKG and it should work great. It's easy to download using ProtonUp-Qt.
30-40% fps loss compared to flatpak launcher
Works out of the box with no issues.
Works fine with no tweaking needed
The native debian version has a bit better performance and is usually more stable, but the Windows version from Steam is totally playable with no major hurdles. It used to have some crashes, but those seem to have been ironed out
Works better than native client because 2-3 quests have a game crashing bug on the native client that doesn't exist in proton.
Occasional crashes randomly during normal play. Frequent crashes about every other teleport.

Works fine, you may have an occasional Crash-to-Desktop depending upon if the content you're interacting with is developed properly
All settings are maxed out, including FPS. Extremely stable out-of-the-box on Proton 7.x; however, please do keep in mind that if the content was not developed properly (this is JAGEX, after-all), you may experience an occasional CTD. It is essentially almost the same experience on Windows-based machines, although I can't comment on any technical issues that may be experienced on an Ironman account due to the restrictions, as I don't play on any of those account types.
RuneScape 3 is 100% playable out-of-the-box on the latest Proton version! No tinkering needed :D
Online play was fine, I was able to do quests with my friends etc
RuneScape 3 worked out-of-the-box with no tinkering nessesary for me to get it to run and to start playing quests. Was able to do quests with my friends and had a great experience.
- I was playing on the MIN graphics with 'Draw Distance' set to 'Ultra' and 'Textures' set to 'Compressed'
If you want to give RuneScape 3 a go, it's perfectly playable!
Yes if they use proton experimental for now as it gives higher more consistant frame rates with only small minor frame drops
For Nvidia users I reccomend using experimental as there is only small and minor compared to the frequent and big of frame drops while running around when using proton 7.0-1
At least for now they will only need to change proton versions, not that hard.
