The game first-time launch setup is slow and seems to hang on multiple EULAs and installers, disabling all Steam Deck inputs (including the Steam button) except the power button and the touch screen. The touch screen can in fact be used to proceed (alternatively, the game can also be launched from Desktop mode to use trackpads instead).
The game runs consistently at 60fps and features full controller support.

The game defaults to the adequate resolution, runs consistently at 60fps and features full controller support.
With the default Proton (7.0-1), the game closes instantly. With the Proton Experimental, the game first-time setup fails. Only when using GE-Proton does the game become playable.
Native Linux GOG version.
Desktop mode used to install native Linux version with GOG shell installer. Shortcut to /home/deck/GOG Games/Brigador Up Armored Edition/start.sh
added manually to be able to run it from Gaming mode.
Native resolution supported and detected, runs at 60fps. Gamepad or keyboard&mouse emulation control layouts can both be used.
Had a crash once when starting an online custom game on the vehicle/livery selection screen.
Works out of the box. Features full controller support. Runs consistently at 60fps with high graphics options at native resolution.
Warning : the settings are shared between computers over the cloud. Setting a resolution/frequency unsupported by the Deck on an other computer makes the game fall back to 640x480/30, and the text is completely unreadable.
The game defaults to a native version but it has no sound. Forcing the use of Proton (tested 7.0-1) in Compatibility options solves the issue.
The game features full controller support.
Occasional freeze on exit
The game runs at a consistent 60fps on high graphics preset. There is some stuttering immediately after a scene change, but it settles down very quickly.
Works out of the box. Runs consistently at 60fps at native resolution and high graphics options (default).
Features no controller support but an official control layout for keyboard & mouse emulation is provided (the touch screen can also be used).
Works out of the box. Defaults to kb+m emulation but has full controller support. Framerate can dip to 20-30fps in heavy scenes, but stays mostly around 50-60fps.
Works out of the box. Control layout defaults to gamepad and the game features full controller support. Framerates varies depending on scenes, mostly between 40-60 fps.
Bound Shift-F3 to back buttons
Works out of the box, with full controller support and native resolution support.
Accessing Epic Online Service overlay is awkward, but once opened with bound buttons, it can be navigated with the touch screen.
In early levels, 40FPS can be consistently maintained.
Screen refresh rate reduced to 40Hz
Small hiccups the first time an effect is displayed (maybe shaders compiling ?). Framerate dips in the 20s fps during action sequences on High graphics presets.
Works out of the box (pretty good for an early version). Full controller & native resolution support. Overall performance is middling and graphics options cannot be customized yet.
Instructions provided at https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/comments/vht8d1/fall_guys_f2p_epic_version_tutorial_for_steam_deck/ allow the F2P version of game to run properly on Steam Deck.
Controller is supported except in the social overlay (use mouse emulation). Consistent 60 fps can be achieved by tuning down graphics settings from high presets (set Shadows Detail to medium). Native resolution is not supported, only 720p.
Lore text is a bit small, Steam automatically notifies that the magnifying glass can be used to alleviate this (hold Steam button + L1).
Works out of the box. Detects native resolution & runs at 60 fps on medium graphics presets. Features full controller support (including adequate x360 prompts).
Running with either Proton 7.0.1 or GE-Proton7-10, the game fails to launch on Steam Deck. It closes after the first splash screen.
Gamescope indicates framerates in the 300-400fps range, and GPU usage stays at 99%. The battery life is considerably shortened due to this. There is no in-game FPS cap or VSync option to work around this. The Gamescope Framerate Limit has no effect.
Using Thermal Power (TDP) Limit helps. Setting it to the minimum value (3 Watts) makes the framerate go down to 80-100 fps and battery life estimation climbs.
The game defaults to a native Linux version which works out of the box albeit with bad battery life due to high GPU usage. The game features full controller support, but display Playstation controller icons. Finally it is designed to run with a 4:3 ratio (which it defaults to) ; enabling the Wide screen option (16:9) yields a stretched image.
Enabling co-op in the pause menu switches from controller to keyboard input.
Works out of the box, with full controller support.
The game defaults using Proton instead of the native Linux version. The native version also works albeit with a higher battery drain (~30%).
Works out of the box, with full controller support.
The game defaults to its native Linux version. Forcing the use of Proton (tested 7.0-2 and GE 7-15) yields a black screen on launch (with sounds).
Works out of the box, with full controller support and runs at 60 fps on high graphics presets. Lowering the graphics to medium seem to raise battery life by a small amount with little to no visual degradation.
When the camera is fully zoomed out (automatic, changes on a per-scene basis), game elements become a bit small for the Steam Deck's screen.
The game default to using Steam Controller official layout, which is basically keyboard + mouse emulation, but is incomplete. The game features full controller support though, so one just has to switch to one of the Gamepad templates to make use of it.
Works out of the box otherwise, framerate seems to stays above 50fps.
Some cutscenes (FMV/prerendered) stutter so much they are unwatchable. The option to skip them works though.
Works out of the box. Can run at 60fps depending on graphics settings. Features full controller support.
Works out of the box. Some text on the main menu has a non-stylized font which looks out of place. The game runs consistently at 60fps on high graphics presets with medium AA. Vsync and/or fps cap can also be enabled.
Occasional game freeze during combat.
Works out of the box with full controller support, native resolution support. Graphics settings must be tuned a bit so that the game stays close to 60fps out of combat.
Works out of the box, runs at 60 fps on high graphics presets at native resolution. Features full controller support except for text input (first-time profile creation for example), where the virtual keyboard must be brought up manually.
Works out of the box. Features controller support, but menu navigation uses a mouse-like pointer. Runs at 60fps consistently (albeit with temperatures around 70-75°C). Online play works with no issues.
Unfortunately crashes every once in a while (stutters and then freezes while music continues playing).
Works well out of the box. Supports 1280x800 even though it defaults to 1280x720. Runs at 40-50fps with medium graphics presets. Features full controller support. Does not feature cloud saves.
Works out of the box, with proper screen resolution and full controller support. The game defaults to "very high" graphics options, which results in framerates around 45fps. Reducing all graphics options to "high" allows to keep a steady 60fps.
On first launch, the game ran in 4:3 in a corner of the screen. Changing the resolution to 1280x800 and switching the game to borderless windowed and then back to fullscreen fixed the issue.
Works almost out of the box. Runs at 60fps with default presets and features full controller support.
Detailed instructions for a first-time user:
- switch to Desktop Mode
- install protontricks through Discover app
- launch Protontricks app
- select Renegade Ops in the list
- ignore WINEPREFIX 32bit/64bit warning
- choose "Select the default wineprefix"
- choose "Install a Windows DLL or component"
- select d3dcompiler_43 and d3dcompiler_47 packages
- close Protontricks app
- switch back to Gaming Mode
- run the game normally
Out of the box, the game installs fine, but yields a black screen and nothing else upon launch. Using Proton Experimental or GE changes nothing.
The older reports indicated that using protontricks was necessary and which packages to add. Indeed once protontricks was used to install the missing components, the game not only launched properly but ran very well (consistent 60fps) with the default Proton.
A system update likely broke compatibility further. Without using protontricks, the game yields a black screen like before. With protontricks, the game crashes immediately. This is true with Proton 7.0-2 or GE-Proton7-17.
Installed d3dcompiler_43 and d3dcompiler_47
A system update likely restored compatibility to where it was before. After using protontricks, either default Proton (7.0-3) or Experimental can be used to run the game.
Works out of the box. Native screen resolution supported.
Framerate stays well above 60fps on "very good" presets, dips below 50fps on "beautiful" presets. VSync can be enabled in-game to cap framerate at 60fps.
Works out of the box, with native resolution and full controller support. The game runs mostly at 60fps on "Low" graphics presets, with temporary dips in heavy scenes.
Works very well out of the box. Automatic performance detection sets resolution to native and graphics presets to medium, which makes the game run consistently at 60fps. Full controller support is included.
Works out of the box. Runs consistently at 60fps, features full controller support.
Works out of the box with full controller support.
Does not support native resolution, only 720p available. Stable 60fps. Controller prompts use the Playstation DS4 visuals.
VSync is enabled by default but FPS stays uncapped regardless, making the GPU run very hot and eating through battery life.
This can be mitigated by using Gamescope Thermal Power (TDP) Limit. Setting it to 7 Watts yields framerates around 50-70fps and improves GPU temperature and battery life a lot.
Desktop mode used to install native Linux version with GOG shell installer.
Missing dependencies have to be installed manually with pacman
:
- If first-time pacman usage:
passwd
sudo steamos-readonly disable
sudo pacman-key --init
sudo pacman-key --populate archlinux
- Install missing dependencies
sudo pacman -S lib32-libxcursor lib32-libxrandr
- Optionally set SteamOS back to read-only
sudo steamos-readonly enable
Shortcut to /home/deck/GOG Games/Shadow Tactics Blades of the Shogun/start.sh
added manually to be able to run it from Gaming mode.
Native resolution supported and detected, full controller support.
Menus cannot be navigated with a controller. Either use Steam Deck controls as kb+m emulation and play that way ; or switch to gamepad and use a secondary controller with kb+m emulation for menu navigation.
Some rebinding of controls is necessary to match specific controllers layout.
Out of the box, the main menu background and also prerendered cutscenes show up as colored bars instead (like a NTSC test pattern). Using GE-Proton7-10 fixes that.
No controller is detected, forcing the use of keyboard + mouse emulation.
Out of the box, prerendered cutscenes show up as colored bars (like a NTSC test pattern). Using GE-Proton7-10 fixes that.
No sound at all.
The game defaults to native Linux, which does launch but features no sound at all. The game has no controller support so keyboard & mouse emulation is mandatory.
The game defaults to its native Linux version, which has no sound at all. Forcing the use of the Windows version with Proton 7.0-1 works around the issue.
Apart from that the game works as expected. It does not feature controller support but robust community-provided templates are available.
The game defaults to an official layout, but it only works in the launcher (graphic settings) menu. Controls become non-responsive as soon as the game starts. Switching to keyboard+mouse emulation works around the issue. Some bindings have to be added for the game to be playable.
This game runs natively on Steam Deck with good performance. However the game has no framerate cap option and the in-game v-sync option does not limit the framerate to 60fps. This makes the Deck run hot, with no gain (since its screen is 60Hz).
The native Linux version of the game launcher window text is entirely unreadable. Forcing the use of the Windows version with Proton 7.0-1 works around the issue.
The game defaults to keyboard and mouse controls, but it is possible to switch to controller in the launcher window : it has full controller support. The game runs consistently at 60fps with default graphics settings.
Installs and runs with default Proton (7.0.1) but framerate is unstable (dips under 30fps) in high speed situations. This makes the game feel like it is stuttering.
Switching to GE-Proton7-10 improves framerate a lot, as it stays closer to 60fps. It is still unable to maintain it all the time but it improves the feel of the game a lot.
These steps require GE-Proton7-10 to be installed.
- Switch to Desktop mode
- Download mf-install from https://github.com/z0z0z/mf-install/archive/refs/heads/master.zip and unzip it
- Open a shell in the directory containing mf-install
- Run the following commands
export WINEPREFIX="/home/deck/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/816090/pfx"
export PROTON="/home/deck/.local/share/Steam/compatibilitytools.d/GE-Proton7-10/"
./mf-install.sh -proton
- Return to Gaming mode
This game does not work out of the box.
- After launch it stays stuck on a black screen.
- Running it with a GE-Proton does not change the outcome. Protontricks install of mf package fails with default wineprefix. Installing Media Foundation manually for the default Proton yields a warbled display.
- Getting it to work requires using a GE-Proton AND installing Media Foundation manually.
After that the game runs properly, with a decent framerate (35-50fps) on High graphics presets. It can be played either in controller mode or with kb+m emulation.
A transluscent square grid overlay-like artefact is always present. Changing quality from High to Very High makes the tiles of the grid smaller. Changing resolution in-game screws up brightness.
The game has crashed my Deck completely once.
The game is playable with caveats.
It crashes immediately with recent Proton versions (7.0-2, GE-Proton7-17). As previously reported, Proton 5.0-10 makes the game run.
It has controller support but prompts are seemingly for a DirectInput controller (button 1 = A, button 2 = B, etc) during tutorial. In menus, only keyboard prompts are displayed.
The framerate is locked to 30fps and there are some hiccups, mostly during power plays.
Works out of the box. Defaults to using Proton instead of native. Features full controller support.
Works out of the box (defaults to native Linux version, also works with Proton 7.0-2). Features full controller support.
Music keeps playing when the game is in the background.
Works flawlessly out of the box.
Works out of the box (native Linux version). Runs at 50-55fps on high graphics settings (changing to low makes no significant difference). Controller prompts seem to be DirectInput rather than XInput which is confusing for a new player.
The launcher requires using the touch screen and selecting a custom resolution.
Works out of the box, runs at 60fps on high graphics presets.
Installed with Heroic Games Launcher, run with Proton Experimental.
Works very well with full controller support. Does not support native resolution, only 720p available. Stable 60fps.
Works out of the box, consistent 60fps. Local co-op works with an additional controller (tested with Steam Controller connected over BLE).
The game defaults to a native version but it runs badly. It barely maintains 30fps with "very high" graphics presets. It runs far better (60fps) when forcing the use of Proton (tested 7.0-1) in Compatibility options. The game's launcher requires kb+m emulation to change the options, but controls can be switched back to gamepad on the title screen. The Steam Deck native resolution is supported.
Works very well out of the box. The game's launcher supports the Steam Deck native resolution, and can be used with the game's default (official) controls layout (standard gamepad with joystick trackpad + grip buttons assigned as XYAB). It runs consistently at 60 fps on "very high" graphics presets.
Works very well out of the box. The game runs at 60fps on "medium" graphics presets. It cannot maintain 60fps on "high" presets though (runs at 40-50fps). The Steam Deck native resolution is supported and detected by default.
The game first-time launch setup seems to hang on PhysX EULA, disabling all Steam Deck inputs (including the Steam button) except the power button and the touch screen. The touch screen can be used to proceed (alternatively, the game can also be launched from Desktop mode to use trackpads instead).
The native resolution of the Steam Deck is supported in the launcher (not detected by default though). The game runs consistently at 60fps with "very high" graphics presets.
Text is somewhat too small for the Steam Deck screen
This game runs natively, no need for Proton.
On medium settings, framerates varies from 25 to 50 fps.
Works out of the box with excellent support.
The game detects that it runs on Steam Deck and has art matching the device when showing controls. Graphics defaults offer a good visual quality but a wobbly framerate. The default resolution did not match that of the Deck. Text input makes use of the Deck virtual keyboard automatically.
Works out of the box, with full controller support.
Native resolution is not supported, use 1280x720 instead, there will be bars above and below as the image is not stretched. Disable "Auto-adjust" to avoid automatic resolution changes.
Videos like the intro have a green border on the underside.
The game defaults to full screen which crops a large part of the image. Disabling full screen and changing resolution to 1280x720 yields better results.
Works adequately once display options are tweaked. Does not support native resolution. Features full controller support.
The game installs and runs, but freezes upon launching a mission when using default Proton (7.0-1). Using either Proton Experimental or GE-Proton7-10, the game becomes playable.
Works out of the box, with full controller support. Only supports 720p, 1080p or "Desktop" resolutions.
Works out of the box, runs consistently at 60 fps. The game has a separate launcher to change settings, it is possible to use the touch screen to do so.
