Works out of the box
Game runs great. Performance isn't the best considering how old the game is but you can get 60 fps with few dips on lowest settings.
Didn't play long but didn't experience any issues.
This game is a ton of fun by yourself but so much more fun when played with friends
Slight microstudders and occational FPS drops
Full storage drive format and reinstall got this game working for me. Not Ideal but its better than not playing.
Games installs but wont launch, no compatability software works
PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1 PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 %command%
Tried nearly every Proton, ProtonGE, and Wine versions i can think of find and they dont seem to work, Game installs but doesnt run.
PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1 PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 %command%
Wouldn't run at all unless I added PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1 PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 %command%
Runs quite slow for my rig, probably because it's not using Vulkan to run. Not really sure how it's running out of the box for others. Would just crash on startup no matter which version of Proton I used. My other games work just fine. This one is just really picky for some reason. Playable, but yeah, runs way slower than I think it should.
Worked right out of the box, make sure to read how to play to understand spell combinations, use RS to aim and fire spells, LS to move.
Steam + L1 to zoom
works out of the box, great couch multiplayer game with multiple controllers
couch-multiplayer is the way God intended this game to be played (it's kind of lame any other way IMO)
tested with PS5 controllers, but should work with anything Deck-compatible
Updated 80s arcade classic that pretty much runs out the box.
Steam Controller - Right Pad (camera controls/right thumbstick) very inaccurate with direction of fire. Had to download a community mapping with 'improved r-pad' to fix.
If you're using a Steam Controller you'll probably want to assign a new controller config.
Works fine, despite small text
Some lore text and loading screen tips are hard to read, but in-game subtitles are an appropriate size.
Valve's notice also states the game needs a connection for singleplayer, but I was able to start/play a level just fine without internet (both with and without Offline Mode turned on)
Excellent on Steam Deck
Lore text is a bit small, Steam automatically notifies that the magnifying glass can be used to alleviate this (hold Steam button + L1).
Works out of the box. Detects native resolution & runs at 60 fps on medium graphics presets. Features full controller support (including adequate x360 prompts).
Game worked great out of the box on the Deck. My only minor issue is that some text is small and hard to read, but it's not really needed.
Some of the text is small due to resolution.
Ran perfect out of the box
Works out of the box.
Very very (almost unnoticeable) performance difference compared to native windows. Most users may not notice.
Ça marche bien ; je n'ai pas essayé le multijoueur.
Game seemed to run fine, as well as on Windows. Played with a wireless Xbox 360 controller which was played perfectly for a solo level.
Perfect! I couldn't run it before due to an incorrectly mounted NTFS drive. fixed it by following Valve's guide for Proton with NTFS drives
doesn't start at all
Works out of the box
Update to my previous report: my problems were because I was running an NTFS hard drive. Once I reformatted it to ext4 it ran without issue.
It seems like most people have been able to get this running but its borked for me on Pop OS 20.04. Crashes on launch.
Installed and ran with Proton 4.11, based on past reviews. Flawless experience.
I originally couldn't get the game to launch with 390 NV drivers, but after updating my 18.04 Ubuntu to 440, it loaded fine!
The first level the mouse seemed like it was loosing input. Went away after I dropped the settings to low on the second map.
Two or three times the game suddenly slowed to a crawl but then recovered a few moments later.
Works fkawkessky out of the box.
The game runs out of the box
ACO Compiler and shaderprecaching should be enabled for a smooth performance.
Some glitches in some lights, the brightness just looks weird.
works very well, the Xbox 360 game controller works.
Works flawlessly.
Works great, no problems.
Works perfectly, played through the entire game.
Proton 4.2-9; Install, play.
Worked perfectly, even with 360 gamepad. No workarounds needed whatsoever.
Flawless, no tweaks needed. Worked with Xbox One controller as well.
Only starts with PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 but works almost perfectly. Positive since few months ago: no longer needs ESYNC to start. Negative: now, there is a mouse cursor offset issue, it's not a constant offset, more of a function, in the top part of the screen the offset is bigger and you have to click AROUND what you really intend, but towards the bottom of the screen the offset reduces to zero. Minor inconvenience.
everything working perfectly no issues, multiplayer working as expected, just like windows
I didn't use any workarounds and everything is working flawlessly.
Only played this minimally on a windoze laptop before, but installed this under proton today and played through the entire game perfectly with a F310 Logitech controller under Arch Linux. Superb!
