Runs great. Uses desktop resolution, does not let to change it. As I have 3840x2160 resolution on 28" display, UI is hard to see and text is hard to read.
The only thing I had to do was to rename /steamapps/common/AoE2DE/resources/_common/movies
directory to something else. It does not play the intro movie after this, but runs very well.
The problem was that it did not accept CD Key. My solution was this: 'protontricks 105450 d3dx9 mfc42 winxp l3codecx corefonts' after running this game runs great. One more thing: after quitting the game, the game seems to be running in background as I can hear sound. Checked running processes and had to kill age3.exe to quit game completely.

After 10min of minor stutter - game runs very smooth, stable 60FPS on Very High settings. Works as good as on Windows 10

It seems that initial stutter is audio related. When some sound is played for the first time, game stutters.

I think these stutters might be my hardware problem, as I experience it in various games.
The game launched on 2nd try. On 1st try Uplay was updating and after that nothing happen.
The game generally is playable, with some minor disadvantages already mentioned in other comments. Such as missing sounds in cinematics, unable to change graphics settings, minor stutter sometimes. I can change display settings such as resolution or VSync, but I can't change most of Graphics settings (the ones that require restart). By default all graphics settings are set to High, but if I change to Very High or Ultra High then game asks to restart, and after starting a restart dies and no longer launches. After this I need to delete config from prefix... I would consider bronze, but I am amazed by Photon reaching this level in such a short amount of time, it deserves Silver!
Note: I used Proton 4.11-2 which was released today, but not yet available to choose in ProtonDB. I am very happy that now this game works so well! Before I could not launch it. Now works smooth and without any issues! Played ~7h
Uplay needs to start in Offline more. Had one random crash. Game on lower resolutions than screens native, does not scale and cover not whole screen in Fullscreen mode.
First I have tried to disable D3D11, with PROTON_NO_D3D11=1 %command% set in Launch Options, but I got pretty low performance. Game ran in outside areas around 20-30FPS, but as I looked into ground FPS jumped up to 200FPS. Then I tried to use Wine D3D11, with the help of protontricks. I ran this: protontricks 15100 d3dcompiler_43 - and then launched the game without PROTON_NO_D3D11=1 %command% and performance improved very well. Now I get around 80-110FPS in open areas. Plays smooth with minor shuttering which seems to be related to audio.
Needs "PROTON_NO_D3D11=1 %command%" to be set in Launch Options. Performance is not good, but playable
Could not launch the game
Tried various Custom Proton versions, and stopped with Proton-5.9-GE-3-ST. Installing dotnet472 with protontricks did not help. I was unable to launch the game
Fails after "Settings" screen
Fails with a message about Pixel Shaders unable to compile. Tried few other, older Proton versions, seems to have same problem. Did not try to edit WINE prefix with protontricks as other people did. I assume if someone would put effort, could get it running. But for a simple user, it's not playable in "click and play" fashion
Runs very well, with all settings on, even NVIDIA PhysX.
It seems framerate get locked at 30FPS, even with VSync off. Solved this by editing BmEngine.ini like this:

Needs to disable movies (check other comments) and after that game is playable with Proton. Somehow sound does not work in-game, but works in-menu.
Runs great. Just since it is old game, it does not support wide-screen resolutions via settings menu. My solution was same like on Windows: Open console with CTRL+ALT+~ (tilda) and enter (comma separated commands, do not enter the comma): r_customWidth 3840, r_customHeight 2160, r_aspectRatio 1, r_mode -1, vid_restart. This will set 4K UHD resolution of 3840x2160, you can change values to any, like 2560x1440 or 1920x1080
Runs perfectly with minor glitch. From time to time I lose keyboard input and can't control the game (only mouse works), but ALT+TAB fixes it. With controller no issues at all. Runs very smooth, high frame-rates without any shuttering.
Runs great. MLAA anti-aliasing kills performance. Change anti-aliasing to FXAA or Off improves performance greatly.
It seems this game is ported using DX11 to OpenGL translation layer. I think OpenGL is slower than Vulkan, that is why I get awful performance with Linux native version.
Compared, it is stuttering 35-50FPS with native, while with Proton Experimental I get solid 60FPS without any drops. I tried only DX11 version of Windows game, not sure about DX12. Also it seems graphically game looks better with Proton/DX11 than Linux native with OpenGL.
Note that initially Windows version with Proton will stutter too, as it needs to compile shaders, but later on way better experience than Linux native version.
Runs good. Just noticed lower performance compared to Windows 10. Sometimes frame-rate drops to 5-10FPS for short time.

Runs without any tweaks. Performance is pretty bad, FPS is not stable. Did not play that long (20min or so) but I did not notice any glitches or crashes.

No tweaks were needed. Just after the start of game I need to press ENTER few times to get it running. If you ALT+TAB the game, it crashes with Unhandled Exception.
This is one of my most played games on Steam. Almost all the time I was playing this game in dual-boot with Windows 10 and after trying it via Proton I can say on Linux this games performance is way better! FPS is way more stable! All in all it is much better experience than running this game on Windows 10. Now some technical things that I did. First of all D9VK is mandatory for this game in my opinion. With DXVK the game was running at 30-40FPS with some visual glitches, while switching to D9VK (0.13f) gives me stable 60FPS (did not check how high it goes without VSync). Even on Windows 10 I could not get stable 60FPS! D9VK and Proton is great combo for this game. Another few tweaks that was done: xliveless xlive.dll, stream.ini changes and launch options to remove limits. You can find a guide how to do these things in other reports. I did nvapi.dll changes too, but I read it was optional while running with D9VK. More than 100 hrs on Windows 10/8 was not that smooth as on Arch Linux with Proton + D9VK! Loving it.
Game works very well with some minor issues such as mouse lock-up (while driving a car) and VSync does not limit FPS, but everything else is great.

I use Gentoo Linux and it seems they have limit of 4096 for DefaultLimitNOFILE which after changing to 1048576 has solved everything. You can check on your system value of this limit by running ulimit -Hn visit the link to Lutris Wiki for more info how to solve this ;)
Tried last 5 Proton versions, could not get it to work
With Proton Experimental and Proton 8/7, it has some sort of VRAM leakage, and fills up 24GB of my GPU VRAM

I found that turning on FPS limiter (cap) makes game to run very slow on my hardware. While game runs on 70-80FPS, limiting FPS to 60, makes game run at 40-45FPS
The only thing is that framerate capped at 30FPS, which can be rised to 60FPS, but beyond that it breaks game

Runs very good. Sometimes starts micro stutter, but lasts for short time. HOWTO: rename launcher.exe to something else, and rename mafia3.exe to launcher.exe IF the game starts in black screen, then you need to edit videoconfig.cfg which is at .steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/360430/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Local Settings/Application Data/2K Games/Mafia III/Saves/ FROM 282 174 2560 1440 1 0 0 0 TO 0 0 2560 1440 0 0 0 0 it's basically needs to make game in windowed mode, so resolution numbers stay, just other numbers gets to 0. When game starts in Windowed mode, you can change settings. I recommend turn of VSync and make FPS Unlimited, otherwise performance is not that good. Played around 1hr, runs smooth. Graphics seems to be a bit different from Windows version as some of effects might be missing, but I'm unsure. Plays well

Just one thing: had to delete old configs from running game in Windows 10 (those got synced I think). Configs was located at /steamapps/compatdata/675010/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Application Data/SpinTires MudRunner/
Before I deleted configs, I had black screen and menu without fonts. After config deletion, game runs smooth and without any bugs.
Runs great! Did not try on Windows after last update, but on Linux with Proton works very smooth with high frame-rate! With previous NMS updates I played on Windows and performance was much worse. I use maxed settings with 3840x2160 resolution and get 80-110FPS! Impressive! Honestly did not expected such a great performance. I think Hello Games improved well they game :) I will try to compare to Windows 10 performance soon

I had FPS drops from 144 to 60-70 in some areas. Adding "Launch options" and limiting CPU cores to 4 helped with performance. Now I get stable 144FPS and GPU is properly utilized

OOTB runs at 40FPS, limiting to 4 CPU cores/threads improves performance a lot, up to 250FPS on my system

Intro video does not play and it shows black screen. Pressing SPACE lets skip it. At first I had bottom part of screen visible only. Had to edit file steamapps/compatdata/34830/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/My Documents/Sniper - Ghost Warrior/out/Settings/Video.scr and set my resolution to my screens native resolution (in my case 3840x2160) and then game runs perfectly. Very smooth, without any glitches. The only thing I could not do, was to limit FPS, or turn on VSync... So I was playing in 150FPS on 60Hz monitor, so it's kind of waste of processing power. But game in general plays very well.
