Freezes without skip intro
SKIPINTRO
Intro glitches out onto secondary screen on Wayland GNOME, AerynOS (if you have this issue use SKIPINTRO launch option)
Mouse capture to window on dual monitor setup is wonky at best, this seems to be an issue on Windows as well however.

-width 1920 -height 1080 -fullscreen

Just use proton 9.0

Totally fine for single player matches. But forget playing with your friends.
Multiplayer doesn't work
It just doesn't work. I'm able to start a game with my friends, but as soon as it starts, the game is finished (videogame doesn't crash though).

%command% SKIPINTRO
Frozen when trying to start without "%command% SKIPINTRO".

mangohud %command% gamemoderun %command% SKIPINTRO
The only problem is that you can't login to xbox live. But this wont stop you from playen the game. So its not big deal.

Works well on AMD 5600G Ubuntu 24.04 but with some scratchy audio (fixed) on Proton 9.04.

PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=50 %command%
PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=50 %command% fixes the scratchy/crackly audio. Ran at max graphics detail. Black screen with Proton Experimental, so I used Proton 9.04 without any issue. Only played single player games. No multiplayer.

gamemoderun ENABLE_VKBASALT=1 %command%
Runs decently. Though I just play the campaigns and some skirmishes with AI, didn't notice any slowdowns or such. You can install and run gamemode and vkBasalt if you wish, they don't tax your system and gives good results.

PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 gamemoderun %command% SKIPINTRO
The game stutters on ultra even without the HD DLC. Setting "gamemoderun" and the game to the High preset resolves the stutter.
This report is in regards to singleplay, not multiplayer.
SKIPINTRO

gamemoderun %command% SKIPINTRO
Icons for control buttons (lower left of HUD) may disappear
Loading the mods list or searching available mods crashes the game
The game may momentarily desync and prevent unit or building control, but still allow opening menus and panning
This game requires a competent machine, even so, just lowering the graphical settings is enough to provide an enjoyable experience — albeit with a fluctuating framerate, mods that reduce memory usage are recommended.

Work as native, better than windows !
I expected issues, given my hardware (newer intel igpus are a bit random) and that this is a Microsoft made game , but no .. all good... even got better fps than on my previous windows install ... i used the SKIPINTRO command to skip the intro video, but its optional .. nothing else besides mangohud for fps, tried gamemode too, but actually made the fps worse .. so yeah .. easy , simple , straightforward !!!

WINEPREFIX="$HOME/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/813780/pfx" winetricks --force vcrun2022
As soon as the populations has some size, at around 50-60 pop, the game becomes extremely choppy when units are selected. Deselecting them or pausing and resuming makes the game smoother again. Usually drops from 144 fps to 60 or 70. This also happens even if the graphics quality is lowered, it's always choppy.
works like native
On gnome when switching workspaces, game automatically changes from fullscreen to windowed. You have to change back in game settings

Had to set Proton experimental to "bleeding edge" to force VCRun2022 it seemed.

Simply does not load. Play/Close button changes to "close", then back to "play". Nothing shows on screen.
Have tested with multiple versions of Proton with the exact same results.
Point and click to install and play. No hassle, no tweaking.

WINEPREFIX="$HOME/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/813780/pfx" winetricks --force vcrun2022
Missing audio during the intro video.
Initially wouldn't launch. Logs showed issues with loading MSVCP140.dll and CONCRT140.dll. Force installing Visual C++ Redistributable 2022 with winetricks did the trick.

gamemoderun %command% SKIPINTRO
Multiplayer worked fine out-of-the-box. Played sessions of several hours.
The launch options I have aren't mandatory.
Performance issue with large unit numbers on the screen, doesn't happen in windows

No longer needs any multi-player fixes. Online play now works out of the box, no tweaking needed.
Runs amazing.

Es läuft
Konnte mit enhanced Graphics Spielen. Benchmark 1270 Punkte (Windows 1308 Punkte)

Game started hitching intermittently at global pop ~1000; I would not have experienced that on this rig a Windows install. Not unplayable but definitely annoying when you're trying to micro.
No difference connecting to online sessions on Deb12 vs Win10

SKIPINTRO
I use "SKIPINTRO" because the game could freeze if it plays the video at the start. I had some audio crackling issues when the lobby is full of action but I'm not sure that issue is in the game itself because I had a screen recording on with 4 tracks as well.

prime-run %command%
MOST (Almost all) of the Units are invisible and non-selectable through mouse.
I can't say if I were able to make the LAN work because I didn't tested it but it does show you "Use Local LAN Server" Option for hosting. And Also I tried joining online games and it works!
NOTES: My game is located in an NTFS drive and for that to work you have to do some workarounds of mounting in order to first start the game. I did find the instructions of it on GitHub (https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/wiki/Using-a-NTFS-disk-with-Linux-and-Windows) and followed them correctly! And I was able to run the game. Game doesn't display any error or issue and I couldn't find any info in log files that would help me fix it.
One more thing I did try disable UHD pack, also tried deleting all DLCs, still same problem, and when I use CIVs from Chronicles DLC their villagers are visible when they are moving but not when they are working/building/mining.
I have asked on GitHub issues of Proton a month ago but no respond yet!
And I also tried Proton 8.0 to Proton Experimental versions, no luck!, even tried protontricks to make it work still no luck!

Works great OOTB on Proton 9-04
Only issue of note is the startup cinematic doesn't work but that doesn't feel like a signficant issue.

Runs perfectly
Note that I do not play multiplayer. Works out of the box on Ubuntu.
SKIPINTRO
Windowing doesn't seem to match up properly. Have to use arrow keys to navigate outside of a small subsection. Full screen works fine. Probably a wayland issue.

%command% SKIPINTRO
Mouse doesn't work. Cursor changes to in-game arrow, but can't click or highlight anything.
Likely broken by a recent update in either Steam or the game itself.
Game runs perfectly (marginally faster than Win10) with Steam Overlay ENABLED. Game begins to stutter badly after about 15mins of gameplay with Steam Overlay DISABLED.

Although, you cannot sign into Xbox Network Services.
You may need to add launch options.
