Works great. Keep in mind that this game was designed so you cannot host your own servers, you have to join a existing one or rent a server. Considering how old this game is, there aren't many to join anymore.
Do not use Linux version since cross platform between windows was disabled. Install Windows ver works great.
Slight FPS issues here and there but not bad at all
Using Steam Proton 4.2-5. installed without error and runs perfectly.
Used Proton 4.2.5. Main menu loads but then black screen with white cursor when trying to load a level. Have to kill the PID to exit.
Very Choppy
Works great in Windows but very Choppy with Steam Proton. Even tried disabling Uplay overlay.
Black Screen with Cursor after initial Main Menu
You can successfully login to GOG and get to the main menu then upon loading it loads to a black screen with just a cursor.
Was working great out of the box, then the latest updated totally borked it. Now getting errors "Unable to locate your Rockstar launcher, please validate your game data" Some people have had success with making major and technical changes but I find that it will probably just cause even more problems upon a later update.
DRM Issue.
Trying to launch the game gives a VC++ Runtime Error and crashes due to DRM.
5.0.8 Fixes the DRM issues.
Proton 5.0.8 fixes issues with this game related to Easy Anti-Cheat. Game works great now.
Game loads initial splash screen then crashes back to the desktop before loading the main menu.
Starts to load then gives error "Your graphics card must be compatible with DirectX 10"
After clicking start new game get error "important information for the coders can be collected to fix this problem if you create a minidump. Do you want to create a minidump?" After clicking yes or no the game locks up.
Set Launcher Options as "PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1 %command%"
Imported Glorious EggRoll Proton-5.9-GE-3-ST into Steam. Afterward applied Launch Options. "PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1 %command%" Failure to add the launch option causes the game to load to the main menu and freeze.
Game does NOT work out of the box. You need to specify Launcher Options "PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1 %command%". I have also found that Glorious Egg Roll (Fork of Proton) helps to make the game more stable.
Crashes back to steam after clicking Play
Doesn't even load main menu. BorkFest.
Pefect runs like a dream
No issues at all played over 150 hours multiplayer with 0 issues
Initial Error "Exception: CreateDXGIFactory1" Was fixed by adding Launch Option "PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%". However; game crashes upon trying to play. Tried WineD3d11 but still crashes.
Still crashes with 4.11-1. Tried all the Game Launch Settings suggested such as "PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command% --waitforpreload --gc 2" still crashes to desktop when after clicking the play button after choosing your character.
Game works amazingly well even with Steam Controller. Played for over 30 hours. Works amazingly well with no tweaks needed.
Nearly Perfect. After install it loads up Uplay and will not load. After closing Uplay and then playing again from Steam it loads the game and runs perfectly.
Laggy freezes every few seconds. Works perfectly in Windows with 0 issues.
Game Freezes every few seconds drops from 60fps to 3fps then back to 60
lagging and slowness every 10 seconds or so
Steam says running but game never launches. End up having to end out of process. Tried all tweaks listed on github, nothing worked.
Loads splash screen, gets to where it says "Controller Configuration Recommended" then freezes on black screen. Gets further with AMD build (rather than Nvidia build) but still borked.
Works great, although no "Dedicated Server" support for Linux even if you try to install the dedicated server under Proton.
Not sure how to explain it. When I ran as "vanilla" the game would crash after trying to load into the game. I then tried some of the tweaks and unchecked "enable steam overlay in game" and got into the game but would crash during "interactive conversations". I decided to do the variable PROTON_LOG to get details. Oddly the game run perfectly and "interactive conversations" also worked. I was like HUH that shouldn't fix anything. So i went back removed all game options and launched, worked perfect again. Now I was like, Okay this is really weird. I then unchecked the option to disable VSYNC in game settings, and it still worked great. So I enabled all settings back to "vanilla" and tried again thinking no way this is going to work and low and behold it again worked great. Not sure why to be honest. Considering this didn't work great the first attempt, I am ranking this as GOLD.
Still Borked. Uplay launcher works fine but trying to load game silently crashes.
Game loads after a few minor issues and hangups but ultimately only offline mode works. Online mode gives error that it cannot connect to Ubisoft Servers. Certainly a HUGE improvement over previous proton versions where it wouldnt' even load the game at all.
Aside from the bubble head and anti-aliasing issues the game is fully playable and enjoyable.
Game is fully playable just a few graphic glitches. For starters there is the "Bubble Head" and second anit-aliasing resets every second or so making the game causing the game to look a little strange.
