MaxSmoothedFrameRate=144 in PecanEngine.ini to bump max framerate from 60 to 144 FPS.
Act I of Stasis Interrupted DLC kept crashing at certain points, but setting quality to low helped circumvent those crashes. All of the other levels were completely fine.
Co-op worked flawlessly.
The game works out of the box, there's no real need for any tinkering. If you play at higher refresh rates, modify the corresponding line in PecanEngine.ini.

If you still have an itch that needs scratching after finishing L4D2, this is your game
Fun co-op multiplayer zombie shooter, quite the great successor to the Left 4 Dead games. There's no tinkering needed, everything works out of the box and the performance is exactly you'd expect from your hardware. The only thing that bothered me is that the pre-rendered cinematics would slow down to a crawling slideshow after 30 seconds into them and I couldn't figure out why when the game runs easily at 200+ FPS on ultra. Obviously, not a dealbreaker, but still.

Every now and then the game crashed to the desktop.
Use the following game launch options in Steam for best performance: PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 %command% -nointro
Fantastic game, a worthy successor to the first one and both the native and Proton versions work out of the box.
Flames and explosions dropped the FPS from 240 to 60 for a few seconds.
If you want to play with your friends, you'd have to stick to the Proton version, otherwise pick the native one as it provides better overall performance. The Captain Lilith DLC is not available for the native version, so Proton's the way to go there as well. There's a free 4K texture DLC for the Windows version, but I wasn't able to utilize it using Proton.
Good game, but not a good Borderlands game. The main story's awful, but the DLCs are great.
PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 VKD3D_CONFIG=dxr11 gamemoderun strangle --fps 143 --vsync 1 %command% -NoStartupMovies
The game runs fantastic, but for those who'd like stutterless 144+ FPS, I'd recommend lowering everything from Ultra (except for Texture Streaming) to High/Very High and switch to DX12 if your drivers are up-to-date.
Fun game with great music and unique graphics, plus a lot of humor.
The only trick is that you have to rename BorderlandsGOTY.exe to Launcher.exe and after that the game runs great out of the box. Performance was great, finished the game in 31 hours and not a single crash occurred in this time.
Just press play
This game is absolutely fantastic, a real blast from the past. The atmosphere, the level design, the music, all of them are outstanding and I'm looking forward to what the next chapters are going to bring. If you enjoyed Monolith's classic Blood back in the '90s, then you're in for a treat! - And it works out of the box, too!
Great game, great fun and great performance with Vulkan: 1440p Ultra at constant 200 FPS. Works out of the box, no tinkering necessary.
The character would appear to be stuck at completely random locations as if blocked by an invisible object. Appeared mostly on stairs.
There were some random freezes on the Argent Facility levels around gore nests, I usually had to restart the whole computer to get rid of them. Strangely, but Hell levels were completely unaffected.
Proton 3.16-9 seems to offer the best performance. Tried with Proton 5.0-4 and lost about 25% performance, plus some additional freezes made me revert back to 3.16-9.
Fantastic game, runs out of the box beautifully
Press install then press play, that's it. I was getting ~120 FPS at 1440p on Very High, not a single crash in ~80 hours of game play.
No tinkering needed, just press play
I bought this game on Steam release day and was able to start playing right away. The performance was great, I managed to achieve an average 110 FPS in 4K with High settings. I haven't encountered any bugs or faced any difficulties during the 60+ hours of gameplay that took me to finish the main story and the two story DLCs. Great game and a great experience playing it on Linux!
gamemoderun %command%
As with Dying Light games, it just results in better performance if you use Proton instead of the native runtime. Fantastic game, lots of fun and runs perfectly.
gamemoderun %command%
The temple ruin hub defense mission kept crashing to desktop. It was pure luck that on the 40th try I managed to progress further than the last wave of enemies.
The game works great, but as with the Dying Light games, avoid the native version and enforce the usage of Proton. This is an awesome sequel to the original, it runs just as smooth, but looks a lot better. The only issue I faced was the crashing to desktop every 2 minutes during the temple ruin hub defense mission, but once I lucked out and somehow progressed further, everything was problem free again. Strange, that none of the other hub defense missions were affected, though.
PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 VKD3D_CONFIG=dxr11 VKD3D_FEATURE_LEVEL=12_1 gamemoderun %command% -nologos
The game worked fine since release day and Proton kept improving on the experience. I first had to use "PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 VKD3D_CONFIG=dxr11 VKD3D_FEATURE_LEVEL=12_1 gamemoderun %command% -nologos" to enable DirectX 12 and nVidia DLSS which both improved performance significantly. Strange enough, the introduction of version 1.7.3c made DLSS disappear from Video Options, but removing startup options and switching to Proton Experimental resolved this issue. I highly recommend this game, it was fantastic ~90 hours of gameplay to finish the story.
Everything you'd expect from a Far Cry game: awesome story, awesome gameplay and tons of fun
The audio in cut scenes was out of sync 80% of the time.
Something wasn't right with shadows as things close upfront would become completely black: the face of the dogs when you pet them, the fish you just caught or parts of your hands and weapons.
Almost every 5th-6th entry into the map, inventory or a shop would half the FPS at random and the only fix was to quit and restart the game.
I have bought the game in the Uplay Store, so I had to use Lutris to install it. It took me about 50+ hours to finish the game and I had a great time playing it. Performance was awesome, my hardware was able to achieve an average of 110-120 FPS on 1440p Ultra. I tried and used both Proton-5.0-5 and Proton-5.4-GE-3, but I didn't notice any difference between the two. The only thing that bothered me (although didn't stop me from having fun) was that after opening the map or into a shop for the 5th-6th time in a gaming session would bring down my FPS from 110-120 to 50-60 and wouldn't go back up unless I quit and restarted the game. I could go for 2 hours without facing such an issue when just wandering around and jumping into random missions, while on the other hand I could easily half my FPS in 5 minutes by opening up the map to set some waypoints. I tried every possible workaround, different nVidia drivers, kernels and Proton versions, but this would persist.
Proton-5.8-GE-2-MF
Flickering textures
I have the Uplay version, installing with Lutris is hassle-free. While the performance is great - I was getting ~100 FPS at 1440p Ultra - the flickering textures make this game rather difficult to enjoy at this point. Sometimes you encounter floors that flicker, but most of the time you see trees and bushes disappear then randomly reappear. Regardless of your game style (stealth vs Rambo), this makes fighting the enemy a lot more challenging than it should be. I tried official Proton versions from 5.0-6 to 5.0-8, switched to Proton-5.8-GE-2-MF and Proton-5.6-GE-2, but the flickering textures were present with all of them.
Stuck at blank screen
I tried Proton 5.0-9, Proton-5.11-GE-1-MF, Proton-5.8-GE-2-MF, but none of them would succeed in letting me reach the main menu. I tried disabling e-sync, f-sync, enforcing D3DVK, DXVK, but all I end up with is a blank screen and a barely noticeable 5% of CPU usage. When the blank screen comes upon pressing the Play button, I can see that my webcam's LED lights up a few times, but other than there's no feedback.

Back when I bought this game at launch I wasn't able to play it at all, but fast forward 3 years and here I am concluding happily that I finished this fantastic piece of the Gears saga in 50 hours. The game ran flawlessly, no tinkering was needed, only Proton had to mature "some".
Works out of the box
Just press install and then press play - that's all you need to do.
Works out of the box
I have the Origin version of the game, but installing it with Lutris meant no issue at all, it works out of the box. I've been playing the game without any problems using Proton 5.0-8 and 5.0-9. Applying Spüdley's permission fix reduces the amount of microstutters, although they weren't that noticable. I'm getting ~110 FPS at 1440p Ultra, so it's really enjoyable.
Works out of the box
On rare occasions players were dropped and could only rejoin the match with room password, the Steam client invite stopped working for the remainder of the session.
The original campaign, the DLCs and the remaster all work absolutely fine in both single and co-op multiplayer.
The game runs great on its own, but using Luxtorpeda instead of Proton provides an even better experience: improved graphics via vkQuake engine and the original music for that genuine '90s feel.
Works out of the box
I played the remastered version with all DLCs and everything worked as expected.
Works out of the box
I only played the Scorchers DLC as I've finished the base game years ago on Windows. I could simply use my old save to start playing the DLC on Linux. There weren't any tweaks necessary, the game works out of the box already.
Used Lutris Bethesda Launcher install script and hack to install game
Lutris offered Proton 4.2 by default and performance was despicable, but installing and switching to Proton 4.11-9 from AUR resolved this issue
Sometimes completely random lockups occurred.
Opening the map or inventory always froze the game, had to avoid using them completely.
Sadly I only had the Bethesda Launcher version, so installation and setup wasn't a breeze, especially compared to the Steam version. I played the base game on Windows (24 hours) and finished the two DLCs (12 hours) on Linux. Since my character was already maxed out, I hadn't had to use the inventory, but driving without the map and setting waypoints made it rather challenging to get around by car - at least I had the chance to enjoy the scenery as I ended up doing a lot of detours.
gamemoderun strangle 141 RADV_PERFTEST=gpl,nggc,sam DXVK_ASYNC=1 %command%
It depends on your definition of occasional, but there were some hard freezes or crashes to desktop during longer gaming sessions.
The game worked out of the box, a few performance fine tuning tutorials helped to dial in the settings for a stable 110-120 FPS at 4K resolution. I have had a lot of fun finishing the story, the occasional freezes/crashes weren't a deal breaker for me, because they usually happened after 2 hours of gaming and most of the time I barely had an hour to sit down with the game. I have to point out though, that the "Unknown Error FFFFFFFF" hard crashes started to appear in the Epilogue.
Fantastic game that works out of the box, although some fine tuning needed for smoother experience
gamemoderun PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 VKD3D_DISABLE_EXTENSIONS=VK_EXT_mesh_shader %command%
Flickering foilage issue may be resolved by adding VKD3D_DISABLE_EXTENSIONS=VK_EXT_mesh_shader to the launch options.
I was surprised to see how demanding this game is, so it's necessary to use DLSS. To enable it, use PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 launch option and set it either to quality or blanced in video settings.
Hands down this is the greatest game of 2023 and it was lovely to see that it worked surprisingly good right on release day. If you can live with 1440p @ 50-60 FPS on High settings then no fine tuning is needed, but if you're looking for 80-100 FPS you'll have to rely on DLSS and accept it's sometime visible artifacting/distortion.

Exploring tombs and the Saurian areas introduced some strange lighting problems.
The mouse sensitivity is extreme, I had to add extra launch option to decrease it even further to make it usable.
There were some unexpected stutters, but nothing major.
The game runs great out of the box, but the performance is somewhat strange as the FPS regularly jumps between 80 and 300. If you're not a HRR/VRR gamer, this shouldn't bother you much, but still, this inconsistency results in stutters.
Proton-6.5-GE-2
Textures in cut scenes appeared blurry first, then loaded fully a second later.
Random frame rate dips from 144+ to 60.
I couldn't get it working with official Proton 6.3, switching graphics/sound APIs with gfx_strAPI and sfx_strAPI startup options didn't help either. Then I grabbed a fresh copy of Proton-6.5-GE-2, forced Steam to use it and everything started working. The game is great, I really enjoyed it, just as the previous ones from the series. The only thing I didn't like about the Serious Engine is that its performance is still very inconsistent (same happened with Serious Sam 3 and The Talos Principle): there are completely random drops in frame rate from 144+ down to 60-70. While G-Sync handles this well, I still find it a bit bothersome.
Fun game that works out of the box, just switch audio to OpenAL and video to Vulkan
Only OpenAL produces sound
Some of my saves just stopped loading halfway through when starting the game from a cold start, but loading an older one usually resolved this. Happened 3 times in 10 hours of gameplay.
The same with Serious Sam 4: microstutters and inconsistent FPS, although patch 1.01 improved it a lot

There was one arena fight right in the middle of the storyline that kept crashing the game, but on the 5th try I managed to beat it without landing on the desktop.
The game runs perfectly without any tinkering. The performance was great and I haven't met any issues other than one specific arena fight constantly crashing the game, but after several tries I managed to progress the story.
Works out of the box, runs smoothly.
Sometimes mission briefings had no audio, but this issue's been present on Windows as well.
Great game, runs perfectly and performance was on par with what I've seen previously on Windows.
Fun isometric cyberpunk game that runs out of the box
There's no tinkering necessary, the game runs flawlessly with the default Proton version the Steam Client offered.
gamemoderun PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 VKD3D_FEATURE_LEVEL=12_1 VKD3D_SHADER_MODEL=6_6 %command% -high -USEALLAVAILABLECORES -preload -xgeshadercompile -nothreadtimeout
Just the usual suspects introduced by DLSS, turning it of removes them, but then you have to suffer the performance hit.
The game's engine is quite demanding, DLSS is a must for 90+ FPS at 1440p.
A modern game that requires modern hardware for a decent experience, but nevertheless it was a true compliment to the original game, a worthy successor. The engaging story, the beautiful environments, the really fun puzzles make this a game well worth the praise.
Works out of the box
No tinkering needed, just install and press play. I'd advise fine tuning the advanced graphical settings like volumetric fog and draw distance if you're a high refresh rate gamer too.
Hit play and have fun
The game - although only in early access at the moment - installs and plays perfectly.
Really fun game, works out of the box
You have to convert the videos yourself to let them be watchable during gameplay.
For any 40K fan this game's a must play, but others will definitely enjoy it too. The level design is really remarkable and the atmosphere is spot-on!
Works out of the box
I haven't had to adjust anything, the game works out of the box and runs great on my hardware. I'm experiencing the same FPS drop as on Windows (from 144 down to 50) when fighting hordes of Eldar and there's way too much action on the screen (explosions, flames, teleports, halos, loot, etc.). Definitely not a deal breaker for me, though.
Absolute masterpiece
The game itself is unimaginably awesome and it runs perfectly out of the box. I gave the launch options I read about in other reviews a try, but haven't noticed any changes, so I removed them. In 10 hours I've completed the main campaign and haven't had any instabilities or graphical/audio glitches. Even though MangoHud said I was only able to reach 90 FPS average at 4K Ultra with FSR Quality setting, the game itself felt a lot more like 120, so I didn't bother tinkering with any settings, just turned off the FPS counter and enjoyed the game.
Works out of the box
Just press play and enjoy the show, no tinkering needed.
