Perfect out of box experience.
Install and play.

No problems at all. No lags, no crashes, no performance issues.
Game runs out of the box with Proton 9.0.4. Very smooth and very stable. Love it
Due to my old CPU, only at the start of the game

works out of the box
played on fedora 41

Runs out of the box
No problems at all.

Works perfectly

I've played 12 hours. Shutdown deck, came back to play (9.30.24) and it's stuck on the loading screen with the spinning ring. Unplayable
Cracking from wake
Game stopped working after 12 hours. In this mission where you decide who to give Leon's drugs to, Tucker or Copeland, I mounted my bike and tried to drive out of the town where the game froze. From then on it won't boot past the PS Logo screen with the characters in it. It sits on a black loading screen where Deacon's ring just spins.
Game is unplayable now. Won't boot past Spinning ring load screen as of 9.29.24
Game is broken and unplayable
Buyer beware. As of today I cannot play the game. Days Gone as of 9.30.24 is unplayable on my SteamDeck or PC. I've played 12 hours. Shutdown deck, came back to play (9.30.24) and it's stuck on the loading screen with the spinning ring. It also takes a long time to even load the game before getting to the Sony Logo with game footage in it. Once that plays it goes to the spinning ring.
Anyone have any idea? I've browsed google and this sub and no one has resolution. Majority are going unanswered.
Sucks because the game was beautiful I was really enjoying it.
Steps I've tried:
I've uninstalled 2 times now and reinstalled.
Verified files twice.
Renamed Movies folder.
Deleted sfkpaks folder
Deleted all saves but one thinking one was corrupted somehow.
Tried opening in windowed mode.
Tried opening in big screen mode.
Restarted the device and shut down the device multiple times
Tried just emptying the WindowsnNoEditor folder and it just repopulated itself once i tried to launch the game.
Emptied contents of and made Engine.ini read only. Didn't work.
Tried Proton 8.0
Tried Proton Experimental
Tried launching in windowed mode
Tried multiple different resolutions

Runs perfectly on Linux.
One of the most underrated Sony games that is really immersive and fun to play.
Works perfectly out of the box.

Works perfectly out of the box.
Performance was on par if not better than Windows, when I first played it.

Nobara 40 with Proton GE latest in heroic launcher and I finished the game without any lag, missing textures or bad audio. Flawless experience from start to finish without any tweaks or config.

Game runs great. Was able to play without issues and with good performance.

Runs perfectly on Ubuntu 24.04
There is a video recording to showcase and give an idea how it works here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5namfTeDXiQ

With 8Gb RAM my PC freezes and do crazy things, now with 24Gb I can Play fine without problem

Runs out of the box
The game runs pretty stable on Linux Kernel 6.9.2. I had massive issues with Kernel 6.8.9 before, where the game crashed frequently on start or in the first minutes. Thanks to the one who figured out the issue is related to Above 4G Decoding or as it is called Above 4G memory / Crypto Curency Mining in my BIOS (MSI). One time after 2 hours of continuous gameplay, when I left Copelands camp new textures and game objects did not load. I was not able to reproduce this issue.

Playable better CPU is recommended
perfect gameplay with little stutters what is normal with my hardware but long loading times and shadercache build is very slow

In some cases, you may need to enable the "Above 4G Decoding" option in the BIOS (see text below)
Guys! If you (just like me today) tried to launch this game and received errors like this one:
"Wine C++ Runtime Library
Assertion failed!
File ../dlls/winevulkan/loader_thunks.c"
Line: ____
Expression: "!status && "vkCreateGraphicsPipelines""
...then keep the following in mind - after many hours of torment with launching with different versions of Proton and a bunch of parameters, I solved my problem this way:
- If possible, update your version of Linux.
- Restart your computer and go into UEFI BIOS.
- Find and enable the option called "Above 4G Decoding", save BIOS settings and reboot PC again.
- You can launch Steam, and then the game itself - now this error should not appear.
And now (if you are interested) I will explain a little what was the matter. Errors like "vkCreateGraphicsPipelines" indicate that the problem occurs during the compilation of shaders via Vulkan. And it is not so important whether you have the preliminary cache enabled in the Steam settings or not. The problem arose after updating rolling-release distros (I have EndeavourOS) in mid-May 2024. If you have Linux kernel version = 6.8.8 and earlier, then the game (like other games on Unreal Engine, such as Street Fighter, etc.) will launch without this error. But on kernel version 6.8.9 and newer, many people experience this error at startup. Most likely, this will be fixed soon, but in order not to wait for this moment, one of the users found a solution to enable this option ("Above 4G Decoding") in the BIOS - it is harmless for the average user, I think. I turned it on and the game started without any problems. And without it, I spent the whole day fruitlessly trying to launch the game somehow. Nothing else helped (believe me, I tried a LOT of options...) But now the game works.

Not the Deck's fault, but the audio mixing/direction in the game is quite odd. The main character will yell while riding his bike (understandable), but the person sitting behind him talks in a normal voice. He is also prone to yelling while in dead silent stealth sections, but again, that's a fault of the game.
Had moments where places in the distance would "bug out" or "stutter," but quickly resolved itself
Few crashes and freezes
Main character got stuck on doorways a couple times
Days Gone was known to be a buggy mess at launch and performance-heavy. However, I've only encountered a few bugs, and the game runs very well for an open-world game. Few crashes and freezes, however, though the combat itself is smooth

Works out of box
Copied save files from my GoG install and continued on Steam. Completed the main storylines of the game with zero problems

Hangs on second launch unless windows accessibility settings in compatdata/1259420/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Local/BendGame/Saved/Config/WindowsNoEditor/Engine.ini are removed (probably leaving an empty file) and the file made read only
gamemoderun mangohud DXVK_ASYNC=1 %command%
After the last Steam update, when using the 'mangohud' command in the game, the screen goes black :(. After removing the command, the game works correctly. Is there anything that can be done to make the overlay and GOverlay program work for me? It doesn't work without mangohud.

Last Major Mission, no cave loads. Not even a SteamOS issue since Beta update forced to stable but Fedora Nobara Linux aka Degradation of Proton Updates
Recent Valve Proton Updates and so on added newer crashes
underground map 1 chunk is missing which means I cant get to the next part as mentioned above
this game has its issues even on consoles like map wont load, ive read. On steamdeck, the constant patches to SteamOS, valve|s packages which get reintegrated to normal linux distros, breask stuff and this game is fragile. not too much but interieor areas are very hacky when underground.

30FPS in 60Hz / tripple buffer vsync and medium settings with low LOD
In the mill mission, the game seems to crash and in general I think it was unstable with no crash log shown on crash. proton just closes the window sadly.
Great game. SteamOS or Fedora NobaraOS aside, it is hard to judge why this game can crash, but runs well on SD hardware.

Game stopped running after the last steam update a few days ago
before last steam update game played very well

Game works great. Average fps always at least 40 fps and most of the time around 47 fps. Only had to set Shadows to Low quality.

Using Proton 8.0-4

Works ootb.
The game is buggy, even on MSW. Also has silly data collection.

Flawless except for delay in quitting to desktop from in-game
Takes about 36 seconds to quit cleanly from in-game to desktop.
Otherwise flawless on Linux Mint 21.2, default Steam proton (8.0-3 or Experimental) and controller support is also flawless.
