Worked just as well as the windows version and had the same problem where gun sensitivity and menu sensitivty are very low.

Native Port Works With No Issues
No issues that I wouldn't also experience with the Windows version.
Some glitches / annoyances are the same as Windows (i.e. menu mouse being really slow compared to game mouse)
Only "new" glitch is that when the game boots the menu and openning cinematic I get one frame of a green screen ... I don't remember that on Windows but I also don't really care at all.
I see a lot of people saying the native version doesn't work ... it may be a driver issue since I am using an AMD card and all the other reports seem to mainly be NVIDIA.
Was also able to adjust the .fov by editting the games files

Didn't work :*(
Native didn't work, Proton didn't work. Multiple file verifications, redownloads, and Proton versions.

Same experience as running the game on Windows.
The native linux port of this game is broken, only showing a black screen. However, this game runs excellent when using proton. The default proton version worked great and I haven't experienced any issues with this game.

The game ran fine for the most part, and there was really no major bugs that made it unbareable to play.
When ever there was any sort of steam achievement notification, the FPS wiill drop significantly for a few seconds
The game can be played from beginning to end, just keep in mind that the occacional FPS drop for a few seconds will happen everytime there is any sort of notification with the steam achievements. This has sometimes become irritating as there is 2 achiements (Travel 20km and Explore the island) that poped up frequitly and was the achievements that has occured the most.

Using the native build there was general input lag, very noticeable in menus. Using Proton it still exists, but it's barely noticeable in menus and gone in actual gameplay.
Frame rate drops into the 50's in Act 2 on the native build. Switching to use Proton fixed it.
Worse performance and input lag using the native build, fixed by using Proton. I'd recommend installing the "essential fix" mod which removes all motion blur and makes movement less awful.

Native version works with launch options, without it I got a black screen. Did not test Co-Op.

Game launches and runs perfectly. No stability issues or any other problems. I ran all graphics settings on High and suprisingly it ran perfect. Mint users shouldnt have any problem.

I recommend running the game in Linux Proton mode, since the native version is terrible in performance

Works perfectly in both Ubuntu 23.10 and 24.04
There is a video recording to showcase and give an idea how it works here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D2l4TpQdgb4

Don't even bother with the Native version, it doesn't work at all, only a black screen. Play using Proton instead, that works well

all proton version did`t worked for me

Although its native, it runs pretty awful native, would suggest running under proton, fun game if you have some time to waste
a small amount of input delay was noticed compared to Windows
Would get kicked sometimes because of "no internet" but that issue was rare
ive played this on xbox, windows and linux, runs pretty much the same on all platforms if you run under proton

Played with 2 friends for just under 2 hours, no issues with online.
The game launches but screen stays mostly blank. Initally I put this down to having an abnormally widescreen (5120x1440), but it seems even others with more standard screen sizes have issues too. So I tried using Proton, instantly see the splash screen on launch which I never could before.
In short, the native port seems borked, just use Proton.

Used Definitive Movement Overhaul mod https://www.nexusmods.com/deadisland/mods/48?tab=posts
The game itself running Proton works pretty much perfectly, I haven't tested the Native version so I don't know if that works. Only thing I did was add the 'Definitive Movement Overhaul' mod (https://www.nexusmods.com/deadisland/mods/48?tab=posts) since the game itself is kinda sluggish.
Native version doesn't work. Use Proton
The native linux version won't launch so I used Proton. I finished the game and noticed no issues.

As with Dying Light games, it just results in better performance if you use Proton instead of the native runtime. Fantastic game, lots of fun and runs perfectly.
Runs fine
Just like on Windows, Coop also works
it say "controller icons might mention desktop" this is not something I have noticed.
gamemoderun %command%
Menu sensitivity felt extremely slow, while in-game sensitivity was 3x as stronger.
Crashed each time I opened my game to multiplayer.
Crashed each time I set my game to anything but single-player.
Multiplayer is borked here.

Native version either freezes on splash or starts to a black screen or one with garbage artefacts. Forcing use of Proton (tested with 7.0-4) through Steam Play compatibility settings makes it run well.

Loading screen tutorial text, though it's almost irrelevant since they're only on screen for a second or less.
Performance is just okay. Stable 60 FPS at "Quality" preset, but only 2.5 hours of battery life.
fps is sometimes unstable. It's not very noticeable

Set the right resolution and choose Xbox controller to make the gamepad layout works in-game settings.
one time the game opened in literally 2x2 resolution. I switched proton versions and it stopped happening.
Native version does not work for me. Black screen with a green box on the bottom right of the screen.
The native version launches, but screen is entirely black with a green box on the bottom right of the screen. Unsure whether it's a Nvidia or X11 issue. Proton version seems to work great.
Native version opened to a black screen, but refused to get further than that. Switching to use experiemental Proton fixed my issues
Proton Version couldn't start properly at first. After rebooting the PC two times, it is just terrible. I'd suggest using the native.
HUD wasn't there
Couldn't get more FPS than 2
Full play-through with mouse and keyboard
It froze 2 times in about 25 hours, had to kill the game process.
Native version doesn't work. Intro videos don't play correctly and then the initial menu is just a black screen, but it does respond to input because I could hear menu sounds when pressing the arrow keys.
I played the native version and it was pretty fine.
Some glasses were black.
Brightness slider doesn't work and brightness is not changeable.
Plays fine, no major bugs or flaws that I could see. Haven't tried native so I can't compare the two.
I had a few crashes in my 28 hour playthrough, but I used to get the odd crash when I played this on XBOX 360, so it's probably not Proton related.

works flawlessly out of the box
the native version was unplayable for me while proton runs perfect
