Use DX11 mode, or the game freezes/slows down a lot
Multiplayer seems to work as intended

Very rarely a crash at some specific events and animations. It was not a hindrance, generally speaking.
Got a black screen with audio but no graphics on startup, solved by using the startup command I listed.
Framarate is a bit low for what I would expect in a game like this, but works fine otherwise.
Worked right out of the box, no tinkering.
I didn't test native, went straight to launching with proton. Works perfectly.

As a note, I run gamemoderun on every game. But I doubt it would be necessary.
Game would crash if alt-tab.
Quite a lot of slowdowns. Performance is poor.
Game crashes everytime you change district. I could not find people with similar issues online.
Besides using Experimental, I tried a few things to make it better, but nothing seems to work well.
Multiplayer works fine

It works just as intended and nothing is broken.

FPS seems to be a bit low for what my videocard is capable of. But nothing serious, and I didn't compare it to Windows for reference.
Didn't even try standard proton, I always use experimental.
Ran perfectly right out of the box for me.
EAC runtime installed, ran normally for me.
I noticed the game takes a bit longer to start and get to start menu, but runs normally from there. Not a serious issue. Alt+tab works normally for me. Weirdly enough, I'm getting better FPS than I did on Windows. On windows I had to run borderless windowed or it would stutter. Fullscreen 1440p, max settings on linux, zero sttuttering.

Multiplayer is working fine and I can PVP as normal.
Performance is great, I'm honestly getting better FPS than Windows, even with the new DLC.

Previously, I posted a positive note on pure Arch.
I'm posting again to report I played the game on Manjaro with Pronton 9.0 and am currently playing it on CachyOS with their custom stuff. Worked really well on both. Not a single problem so far.

I only use proton experimental, didn't even try other versions.
I tested the game both locally and on a dedicated server, with friends. Everything worked fine on both.
GTA Online worked without issues. The Rockstar launcher also worked without a problem.

Works out of the box
For some reason the game runs horribly slow.
Crashes often, specially during transitions from one scene to the other.
It's not unplayable, but can be annoying. Biggest issues are the frequent crashes.
Crashes way too often to be enjoyable. But it works and you could play it from start to finish, if you have the patience.
I'm not sure it's related to Proton, but the game crashes at any sort of transition. If you load the game back, it starts after the transition, so it's technically playable. However, the game crashing so often made it very unenjoyable.
I didn't make a lot of effort trying to correct this and chose to unistall the game after a few hours. I did try different Proton versions, and it changed nothing. I also tried adding a few parameters to launch option, none worked. Changing game settings had no effects either.
Works out of the box
Took me a while to figure out what was happening. If you run the game with any other windows opened - even Steam or a simple Dolphin tab -, it will crash to desktop after a little while. However, if you close everything else, Steam included, before the game launch, it runs as normal. I'm not sure what is causing this, but this solution seems to work consistently. I'm using KDE and X11, it's relevant to note.

Minimap is out of place. I'm faily sure it's because the game is 1080p only and I'm running it on a 1440p monitor + proton.

Game runs great, right out of the box, no thinkering needed.
All I did was installing the EAC runtime, and nothing else. Worked perfectly like that. Ironically, I am noticing less latency on linux than when I used it back on windows.
Performance: as the game starts, it runs slow and stutters for a few minutes. Things take a long time to load... Then it's bussiness as usual. No performance issues after this initial slowdown.

Stopped workin after season 2 update
Game was working perfectly until the update. Now I've tried several ways to make it run, to no avail. Logs from the error message are not very useful. I suspect the problem to be EAC. We'll probably need to wait for an update.
I've played New World on so many distros now, I can't even remember all. But overall, it's been working very well on each one.

I have over 1.200h logged on this game. The vast majority on linux. I started on Manjaro, moved to Arch, Mint, Ubuntu, Arch again, Manjaro again and now I am playing on CachyOS.
There was a little period around season 2 in which the game was not playable. Ever since then, it's been smooth sailing for me. Anticheat is not an issue and the game runs well.
For anyone who cares for CachyOS, I'm running New World on it now. It works well with their custom Proton-CachyOS and game-performance mode. Not many FPS gains in relation to manjaro and proton 9.0, though.

While playing, my GPU was running unusually hot. Not sure it has any relation to linux/proton, but I think it's worth a mention.

Wors very well without any thinkering.
When starting, the game stutters heavily for a few minutes. Then it stabilizes and runs as usual. Not much of a problem.
I always use Proton experimental and never even tried other versions.
Has performance issues on some levels, but is playable overall. The issues go away after a while.
Only when using Nvidia DLSS
Game is running with a lot of stuttering on some levels. Usually after a few minutes it stops, but it's important enough that it hinders gameplay.
MUltiplayer works as intended
I always use proton experimental, didn't even try standard version.
Interestingly, many things cloth-made were glitching: flags, curtains, tissues, etc... Must be some especific texture or shape.
Slowdowns in situations with lots of particles effects - sparks flying, for example. Very noticeable.
Don't let the many problems fool you into thinking it was a bad experience. Those were there, but my experience was good.
The game has severe FPS problems. However, it can be ameliorated - not solved - by doing the following:
Navigate to Documents\My Games\Sanctum2\SanctumGame\Config\SanctumEngine.ini
set "bSmoothFrameRate" to FALSE
FPS is terrible, I have very good hardware and it remains < 60fps at all times, most of the time <30fps. However, I'm not 100% sure it's caused by Proton, as changing a config on the game files improved things.

On World Tour mode there's a lot of slowdowns, specially when the game starts for the first time, when changing areas and opening menus. It's far from unplayable, but can be annoying.
Multiplayer works as normal.
All performance issues I found were exclusive to World Tour mode. If you are playing anything else - including online play - it should work fine.
Only minor complaint was that preparing the shaders took a real long time the first launch, but stabilized later.
Friends logged in normally on the campaing. Not a single problem.

Game looked blurred most of the time. Turning off motion blur made it better, but it kept going.
To correct the blur issue, I tried a few things: changing game settings, changing GPU settings and changing proton version did nothing. Like I said, tuning off motion blur made it a bit better, but everything still looked blurry, like it was low res, even when I was not moving.
I only played the first few puzzles and quit the game over this, but it was playable.
