Sinful Oath
Published
Note: Played the demo of this game
Native has issues seeing anything but the cars or tree's but using the Windows version via proton worked perfectly.
Needs to be switched to 5.13-6 otherwise the game will stay on a black screen
No issues
No issues with proton here, there is some jank in the game that might seem like a proton issue but it also does those things on windows :P
Gets to main menu but crashes when attempting to play
Out of the box, not fan patched I could not get this to get ingame, attempted the override wine 3D flag as well as forcing the DX9 DLL without luck, also tried multiple proton versions from oldest to latest GE
Native Linux version has freezing issues in my experience but switching to the Windows version (forced compatibility) runs without issues
Artifiacting was somewhat common and distracting
GPU Utilisatization capped out at around 50% and around 45 FPS
Please be aware: Test was conducted on the DEMO version not full relase!
Only if you dont mind only half your GPU Being utilized. Tried with "gamemoderun %command%" but the change was negligible. That said, the game is still playable!
Works well
Works well enough, I did notice an occasional hickup but could be the nvidia drivers and x11
Working perfectly, playing it in the background as I write this
All works fine
Everything seems to be working fine on this one, the creation of save data is a bit on the slower side but it was that way when I played the game on windows
Mouse would not lock to game window
Game's native executable is missing.
The game's executable is missing, so you will need to force Proton and play the Windows version, also if you're on a multi monitor setup as I am (3 screen setup) the cursor is not getting locked to the game itself and will move to your other screens. Aside from that, works fine.
To get this to run:
- Grab and run ProtonPlus
- Install Luxtorpeda (I used v70.0.0 which is latest as of when I wrote this)
- Set Beetle Ninja's compatibility to Luxtorpeda
- Once you run the game you will be given a menu, Pick EasyRPG Player and OK
- Then you can go into Games with Enter then Enter again to load Beetle Ninja
- Enjoy!
Perfect!
Zero issues found here, played a full match (and won) without a single issue or hiccup
Launcher remains black
That said even if I got past that, I would hit EAC since Pearl Abyss still hasnt enabled Proton's EAC
No reaction
Tried to play it also tested GE Proton but no dice, nothing even comes up on screen
Plays about as it did on windows to the point that with this version I could still speedrun it within 10 - 20 or so seconds of what I did on windows xD (Going to also test v1.0.1 to see if I can still do the game within similar pace as my current PB)
Cursor is not locked to game window, input seems jittery.
Did fall out of the world once not sure if its a game bug or due to proton
You will need to go into settings and increase the audio and axis, as they seem to default to 0 otherwise
Not worth playing in its current state due to input issue
Moving the mouse causes huge FPS lag, I was able to spin my mouse around for a few seconds and lock up the game for a good 5 seconds. Needs a sdl file from another release to make it playable
Not worth attempting to play in its current state unless you have access to another Kex engine game such as Quake Remastered to copy its SDL file over to blood.
If you have another kex game then it should work completely fine.
Given the developer's track record... Honestly not sure if this is the same on Windows or not
Works and fully playable but noticed on the lobby screen your model is a blank black texture and some roads are also black. Honestly, given the developer and how some of their games can be even on Windows this may just be the game itself more so than Proton but felt it worth noting anyway
Seemed very slow in some areas for my hardware, though could be the game itself
Works enough to be playable and given it's not an action game the performance shouldn't distract from the game (walking sim)
This game has very poor performance, I did verify this by running it on Windows, and it ran about the same, showing the game itself doesn't run very well (but also Proton isn't adding much overhead)
Works better than it would on Windows 10!
Works better than it would on Windows 10 in my testing (water droplets in intro are normally not rendered right in W10) there is a complaint about a runtime however that same prompt is also on windows 10 for this fairly old title and can be just OK'd and move on!
Plays fine without any additional changes needed
Works perfectly as far as I can see!
Please however note: This was tried on an influencer preview demo and may change for the public demo or full release :)
Seems to work fine, noticed some low FPS on the main menu but in game was fine and I cant be sure if it was due to the Demo itself or not so Im going to assume it is how its supposed to be
No issues found!
Anti Cheat Error
Unplayable. Error: BlackCipher not initialized: 0xE3010104
Players will need to be wary of steam from pipes they cannot see
Steam from pipes was not being rendered. Not sure if this is also present in Windows given its a prototype. Recommend if playing to always look for valves to turn if you see a pipe
See Graphical mention
95% of the way there, If the steam was rendered would be flawless
Works fine on my system as long as your applying the older version of proton (3.7 -8)
Black screen with audio in the background
Tried multiple proton versions
Tried a few versions of official proton and couldnt get the game to display anything more than a black screen
Played 2 matches without issue
Great experience, no issues I could see in the matches I played
Reasonable couch multiplayer game
Works fine, no issues
See Graphical Issue
No issues found!
Works reasonably well
I didnt mark this down, however one of my original saves from 2015 did not want to load up, however, as memory serves me the game has been updated once or twice since then and my other saves dated 2019 and 2020 loaded perfectly fine
No issues that I could see!
Worked fine in my testing in both the MP Beta weekend and Demo they have put out
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command% -w 1920 -h 1200
Some source engine text is hard to read due to spacing between letters not being consistant. doesnt stop play though may impact story telling in the load screens
Works almost perfectly with the provided launch options mentioned in this report. Aside from harder to read text everything else seemed to work perfectly fine.
Milage may vary
Building textures seem to be missing unless your very close to them (lower poly ones not loading?)
Depends on your tolerance of the low poly building textures not loading, not impossible to play, but it is distracting
Fails to launch
Tried latest official proton and GE 9-5 but no dice
MANGOHUD_CONFIG="fps_limit=30,no_display" mangohud %command%
The game runs OK enough, I think there is some work to be done Enshrouded as it is not the best performance wise and potentially also on Proton's end as well given a lot of the options have little to no effect performance wise.
That said my hardware is aging so for this title given uncapped I get an average of 45 FPS with the balanced preset. I opted to cap to 30 (in my mentioned launch options) for a more consistent console like experience rather than having to deal with frame rate swinging from 35-55 depending on where I am and taking me out of the game.
The game is showing its age and there is some underlining bugs that effect even under Windows but in my experience actually works out of the box and plays fairly smooth unlike windows 10 where you may need to put a lot of fan fixes in to even get it past loading from the main menu
Worked 100% perfectly without any issues I could find that plague the game on Windows. Even the radio is nice and smooth where I found it could be a bit glitchy even way back on Windows 7
gamemoderun gamescope -w 1920 -h 1080 -W 1920 -H 1080 -f -- %command%
Mouse can leave the game window unless you lock it with gamescope, also game crashes on close but thats not an issue since your stopping play
F:NV works about as well as it does on my system running windows, if not a bit smoother all told :D
Couldnt find any issues when I tested it!
Kicks for cheating
Intro video doesnt play but was able to bypass by pressing escape, however when trying to enter a match I am "kicked for cheating" and then disconnected from the servers causing the game to close.
Played MP for a good 5 hours and no issues or lag found
A Flawless experience even in multiplayer
Seemed a little under performing
Sometimes on boot and showing its logos and warnings (before main menu is shown) it would complain about being out of VRAM, however normally it would be fine just needing me to retry once or twice, when you get to main menu you seem to be good.
Works OK once you get the as noted VRAM warning that sometimes appears on start. The performance seemed a little below par or inconsistent but remains playable
Worked perfectly!
No issues here, played multiple games online with friends without an issue
Game remained blurry and shaking, making gameplay difficult
The blur and screen shake is too distracting. Could just be my end however
Couldn't get anything out of this game
Tried a few proton versions and other typical workarounds but no dice
Though note FMV's have no audio and the settings screen text is a bit misaligned.
The game does sometimes crash when loading stages, however, this actually also an issue on Windows, so I did not dock the report on this given the behavior is the same on Windows
Works out of the box
Works perfectly fine on Official Proton 8.0-4 worth noting though, it does not work on GE Proton 8-23 for those who prefer GE's proton
Remaster wouldnt work no matter the renderer I picked for the game engine to use
Unable to play|
Game sounds work as they should, however, it just stays a black screen for me. if I alt tab out and in I get a scrambled screen. did try GE Proton 8-25 as well as a few command switches but nothing seemed to change anything
The game needs to be minimized then maximized again for the game to be visible
The game works fine with the latest version of GE Proton as of the time of posting this (minus having to minimize and maximize the game after launch to be able to see it). It's also worth mentioning I did install the "Killing Time - Community Patch" which is generally considered a must-have for the game.
Motion Blur gets stuck on making the game blurry and hard to see
Ensure you disable "Motion Blur" (Which most gamers do anyway) otherwise the game screen will remain blurry and get progressively worse as you play, as soon as you enter the Pyramid
Refused to save any settings I tried to set
It refused to save any graphical settings I tried to set but telling me I have to restart to save said settings
Native version doesn't run, need to switch to the Windows version (setting compatibility mode)
Game servers shut down
If its of any benefit, you can launch it for it to tell you the server is offline
Great game to play as long as you are using a controller
Mouse input was laggy for me pulling down FPS, However, using a controller the game played fine.
Found no issues when I was playing a match
Working perfectly, Played the demo from start to finish without a single hiccup
Starts to a end of demo screen
Game just fires up to a "thanks for playing" screen encouraging the person to buy the game despite owning the full game
Can hear audio but black screen
Cannot play
Couldn't get to any visible main menu, the best result I got was Proton 5.0 where I had a very orange/pink screen and hearing the game in the background and some green text telling me to press A.
Sometimes input would stop being registered by the game and passed to other applications
I really would pass on this one, in my attempts to play I had input randomly stop being registered by the game (mouse clicks and keyboard input) and would instead be passed to other applications I had running.
Also, the game crashed multiple times even before the 1st boss needing me to relaunch the game
Working well enough, played a few matches with no issues on my own end. This is as of this report early access and there seems to be some matchmaking issues but the game itself is fine
Forced using Proton
Native version was not launching at all for me but forcing proton and Windows version got it working a treat
Moto Racer 1 had a script error
Seems Moto Racer 1 has a script issue, so maybe more a wine side issue, moreso than proton given I have played this collection on both standard proton and GE.
Also amusingly Moto Racer 1 and 2 wouldnt even work on my W10 so I would say its actually more playable on Linux than Windows xD
Couldnt find any issues when I played it
Low FPS
12 real fps (game's in game counter claims 700-999)
Not sure why I got such poor performance, Did try Latest Proton GE but same result
Runs but no game starts nor anything on screen
Videos run at half a frame per second and the intro alone will take you a good 5-10 mins to wait through
Videos run at 0.5 FPS
Designed to interact with a Windows system and as such it can't give you the tasks to complete such as run paint and draw something or open a folder and move a file.
For what it's worth what does work, works well but given how deeply it was made for the Windows desktop environment it is a game that won't work on Linux without a native version, anything more than that and well you may as well boot into a VM or Just run Windows on another drive to play this. This is down to a design limitation rather than a technical one.
Game ran for me fine with no issues I could really say was a proton based issue. Also connected and held a connection fine to a community server without any major issues that I could see
Worked very well
Slight flicker looking at tournament listings
Please note: This was tested via the Palarium Play launcher version through steam and should effectively be the same as this current release!
Tournament/Event screens have issues loading
Just ensure you have it on your phone too to deal with the Tournament / Events pages so you can check and claim rewards from there
This game works fine, however after the 2nd splash screen showing logos the screen will go black, just press your button a few times and it will skip whatever intro video is trying to play and the game seems to be fine after that!
Doesn't lock cursor to screen correctly, not an issue unless you are on a multi monitor setup
Game is playable but be aware on multi monitor setups that the game will not lock your cursor to the game
Was able to complete the game from start to finish without issue
Ran perfectly and even finished the game with 2 endings
Game couldn't find/wouldn't load my DLC content and complained when loading my saved data
In my own testing, the DLC would not load (I own them all). They were verified to be installed by steam. If you're OK playing just base game, you're golden!
PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1 %command%
With the launcher options the game works just as good as windows, without it the game has frame rate issues
By default, Music wasn't working. However, going into the inbuilt setup Option 4>Configure Sounds>Setup Music then opt for "Soundblaster" or "Adlib". Exit then "Save and run ROTT" and everything will be fine afterward
Works perfectly fine once the music device is adjusted
Couldn't find any issues here that I didn't run across on Windows!
Occasional stuttering when it changes levels
Went onto a fairly local server and saw 20ms ping consistently on a game with 28 players
Worked perfectly fine on my system only one or two momentary stutters just after loading, assuming shader building because it never returned
Works like Windows
Nothing special to mention, worked fine!
Runtime Error
Only shows a Runtime Error 501 and pressing OK ends the game, some older versions of Proton don't even get that far.
Heavy screen tearing
Has heavy screen tearing in my testing, also there is many sections in level 2 that has flickering lights, combo'd with the screen tearing it caused me eye strain
Works great with the Windows version and for me had fewer stutters than native, however for me, native was also perfectly fine except a few spawn stutters here and there
Works with a minor bug
Game minimizes between each load (between levels and videos)
Works well enough, the only real annoyance is having to pull the game back up after every loading screen or video transition. It's not so bad once you're in game as it doesn't happen often, unlike when you start up the game and navigate the menus
Works flawlessly, aside from the audio issue of announcer getting cut off, which also happens on Windows if you are running GE-Proton8-6! Must have recently been fixed as it didn't run a week or two ago when I was running GE's 8-4
This is an update to my last submission, on Proton8-6 this game had audio issues and a few graphical quirks. Proton 9 seems to have fixed all these issues and now works perfectly!
You will need to download the Sonic 4 Launcher (I used the GCC version) as others have also pointed out and replace the original sonic 4 launcher with this new one, once done game works perfectly
Intro video had no audio, but all other FMV's (story mode etc.) in the Demo version were fine
Please note: I played the Demo version, not the full game!
Worked well enough, the only FMV that had no audio was the pre-title screen intro video, which is not a big deal at all. Played the story mode and such, and all of that had audio!
Didn't feel any input delay or anything else, so no worries on this one!
Needs player to alt tab out and back in after every load screen to regain control
Works fine as long as your fine with tabbing out then clicking back in after every load screen
Sometimes windows at a far distance goes pink, unsure if its the game given its budget nature but wanted to note it
The game has some slowdown, however as memory serves me this happens on Windows as well given the low budget nature of the game. Windows also go pink at a distance, but I can't honestly remember if that issue is also on Windows. It doesn't really hinder gameplay at least up until I where I stopped testing.
Works perfect
Native title, works perfectly!
As an additional, it also works perfectly with Proton 8
but alas it worked every bit like it did on windows, massive frame rate issues and all xD
When using DX11 mode the game occasionally crashes in load screens. Normal mode works fine though!
DX11 mode looks a bit nicer but can cause crashing in some load screens and is repeatable. in this instance, just use the normal version to get past the load screen and to the next save or just stick to non DX11 :)
Works perfect on single screen systems!
Moving the window between screens will break the graphics until its moved back to the monitor it was launched on
If your on a single screen system the game will be flawless, however for those with multi-monitor setups will find if you move the game to another screen the graphics will be stuck until you move it back
Water rendering looks like a mirror and sometimes the character may get stuck in a voxel, the latter I am not sure if its just a normal game bug
Unable to play due to engine
Currently, there seems to be no way to play Windows compiled RPG Maker VX Ace games so at the moment this one is unplayable till Proton supports it or there is an engine compatibility tool we can run it under
FMV's are broken
Given this largely an FMV game, and they are broken, it is mostly an unplayable title. I did mess with a few versions of proton Which would lead me to a test looking output or GE Proton 8-15 which worked better in that the video would try to play but is too fast and locks up.
Unable to play, script failure
Tried multiple versions of proton (5.13 -6 being the best result), however the game fails with an error "Failed to execute script main" and closes. Seems to be a wine issue id imagine
Game functions fine, or at least as well as it can given the quality of the title
