some slowdowns and dips during some loadings and menus.

The game varies between 57-60 FPS causing input lag no matter the resolution/graphics chosen. Enabling VRR on my monitor seems to have fixed the issue.

Works decently well out the box with Bazzite
Used a hitbox, the "share" button doesn't seem to be mapped
Works straight out the box with Bazzite, no issues here as far as I can tell. There IS a little bit of a noticable input difference between Windows and Linux. Can't exactly pin point or explain what it is, but just know that there is indeed a bit of a difference... Not too bad to adjust to though, a few sets and you get used to it.
Was able to queue up against console players and PC players fine

electrics, sidestep electrics, etc., are easier to pull off on Windows compared to Linux. after testing & switching between the two multiple times (i dual-boot), i conclude that it's not just in my head, it's true; my execution is better on Windows.

Other than the performance issue I mentioned, the game runs perfectly with my launch options, including multiplayer.

FPS drops significantly if PC has been up for longer. Need to restart PC completely before FPS goes back up.
Works great with no problems for me.

If your game seems stuttery/slow despite it saying 60fps, change your GPUs Performance Level setting to High using programs like LACT
Changed "Performance Level" setting in LACT to "Highest Clocks"
Potentially, Steam Overlay may bug out. This was solved by a re-install of Tekken 8
Stutters may appear if you do not have your GPU's Performance Level set to High.

Online matchmaking is unstable, randomly disconnects without cause.
First time launching had overcast across both displays in 4k instead of only on my main monitor.
I have tried playing this on both Windows 11 and EndeavorOS, and while its perfectly stable offline on my linux side; no issues in CPU battles, training mode, story, couch 1v1s. When I go online, the first match against someone is perfectly stable, but if I rematch them in the standard BO3 format, the game will disconnect around 20 seconds into the second match routinely. I have seen this in both online casual, online ranked, and custom lobbies with friends and strangers alike, but the second I switch to Windows I can play 10 games in a row against the same person without issue.

Doesn't work out of the box with NVIDIA at the time of this being written, doesn't seem to affect every computer
Game works if you use the old-media-source branch of Proton Experimental (select Proton Experimental in your Steam Library -> cog icon -> Properties -> Betas -> click dropdown next to Beta Participation), in the meantime, follow the issue report for any more updates https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/7444

delete game compat files before launch
The game fails to launch if I do not first delete the compatibility files created from the previous launch (SteamLibrary/steamapps/compatdata/1778820
).
While I do experience a minor issue with the compat files, I do not think this is a large hurdle for entry and does not detract the enjoyment of the game.

had to manually install vcrun2022 with protontricks
ran into 2 major issues, the first was that the game wouldn't even launch without using protontricks to install cvrun2022 (the prefix for Tekken 8 is 1778820). The second issue is that the game was using my integrated graphics card so I had ot force it to use the dedicated card. Outside of that the game ran as well as I expected it to and the online play worked for me. Was able to play ranked and connect to the fight lounge no problem.

gamemoderun PROTON_LOG=1 %command%
You need to install vcrun2022 with protontricks. for some reason Microsoft Visual C++ is missing after a clean install and the game doesn't launch without it.
at first, the game wouldn't even attempt to launch, I had to go to steam settings and clear download cache, afterwards i got the Visual C++ error
This is the command I used for protontricks: protontricks 1778820 --gui

Since the most recent patch (Heihachi), the game crashes shortly after loading the menu with a "LowLevelFatalError".
HOST_LC_ALL=$(echo $LANG)
I've tried Proton Experimental, Hotfix, and the default. All fail at the same spot. Various launch options suggested here, like "gamemoderun", didn't work either.

"'Fatal Error" after 30s when booting up the game more than once.
HOST_LC_ALL=en_GB.UTF-8 gamemoderun %command%
On Nvidia cards the game only works when installing it for the first time. On subsequent start-ups the game encounters a Polaris "Fatal Error" after 30sec.
This happens on both X and Wayland and only with Nvidia cards.

Occasional fps drop like -2-3 fps
This happens during 15% less battery or in some stages. This is rare just set graphics to low
short dropouts

The game checks Windows' locale configs to determine matchmaking region, Proton users are defaulted into North America, forcing locale via environment variables in Launch Options does the trick.
In regards to CrossPlay, you might not be able to match against PS5 players in lobbies. If thats the case, edit /etc/hosts
and comment out the line containing your hosname.

Combined with the recently released potato stages mod you can consider it Platinum status.

it has worked without tinkering for months but I forgot to send a new report after the last report where switching to hotfix was necessary

I have reviewed this game before but feel it was worth posting another after putting hundreds of hours into this game and purchasing a hitbox!
After a large amount of play time with a razer kitsune, I can say this game seems to work flawlessly. I've never had an issue with online play nor my hitbox being picked up. This game is as plug and play as it gets!

-windowed
Hyprland was a little finicky on fullscreen. Added -windowed in launch option and went fullscreen in game with keybinds should help.
Works fine on my machine and Steam Deck. Hyprland runs this game flawlessly.

I have tried Proton <Experimental,9.0-2,Hotfix>, none worked out.

The game plays starting cinema, then freezes, which also causes the system to start lagging. After some pause, the window manager restarts and I have to login again into the system (the session crashes). Tried different launching options

My ps5 controller wasnt detected by tekken but worked with steaminput so not a big deal.
The game did not boot without the latest nvidia driver installed (v550) and would only boot into the opening cutscene without gamemode. but after those hurdles everything works perfect, theres no crossplay so hypothetically i think theres a higher chance of cheaters but i haven't experienced any problems
Game loads opening cinematic but black screens when supposed to load the "press button to continue menu"; system starts lagging.

No issues running out of the box and playing matches online. My Xbox gamepad and fightstick both had no issues. I had some performance hiccups with my games settings changing between matches. I found that using gamemode and tweaking settings in CoreCtrl helped this drastically. It's a perfectly fine experience overall. I have not felt the need to try it with windows in comparison.
Worked without any setup required. Playing online, practice mode, and singleplayer worked perfectly.

Tried Hotfix, Experimental and GE, none worked.

Occasioonally will crash to a black screen
Crossplay does not work outside of PC, so you wont be able to play against PS5 or Xbox which have a bigger audiences... This is a mayor issue.
No crossplay limits the Multiplayer access to this game, Fighting games are mostly enjoyed online and without access to the bigger audience on consoles the player base will be limited

Online stability issues have largely been fixed with recent updates to the game. Runs exceptionally well on a VRR screen on KDE Wayland with stable frametimes, with the obvious exceptions being online match loading. PS3 arcade stick worked out of the box with Steam Input.
Shader compilation stutters seem to be greatly reduced compared to when I played the game on Windows 11. Minimal to no stutters in the character select screen, battle intros, stage transitions, and VS loading (incl. online). The Fallen Destiny stage would also crash with a DX12 error at random points on Windows 11, but on Linux I have not experienced this with High settings after hours of playing online.

Struggles to hit 50 fps on lowest settings
Unplayable performance. I've tried various fixes but nothing has been able to give me what I expect out of my given hardware

Cannot boot into title screen
Shows a black screen after viewing the opening movie, reduces my whole system to 1fps

Runs perfect out of the box, running at 60 FPS on my computer with some hiccups here and there due to stage effects.

You HAVE to use Proton Hotfix to run the game, and have your NVIDIA drivers up to the latest, not the Debian package one. I hoped on the beta 555 drivers, but I tried with the current latest 550 which works fine too. Once NVIDIA drivers are up-to-date and Proton switched to Hotfix, the game runs fine, supports modding, and online play works with correct region. Good game compatibility !
Works on my laptop with a 3070 TI, but on my RX 7700S laptop it goes black at the loading screen after the first into.

Works great, except I have to restart every 60-90 minutes, lest my game freeze due to VRAM leaks.
HOST_LC_ALL=$(echo $LANG)
Nvidia-based VRAM leak, changing stages adds around ~200Mb of VRAM, eventually causing slowdown and/or crashes on Nvidia cards.
Problems are not the game's fault, but Nvidia's.
