-force-vulkan
For my situation at least, I had to use -force-vulkan otherwise I would get 24fps no matter what options I used. Not necessary on Steam Deck but needed for my Nvidia desktop.

Just press play and you're good
It just crashes. But I don't think that's an issue with Proton necessarily. It's just unplayable when it crashes every 30 seconds.
It's guaranteed to crash whether it's native or using Proton.
Crashes whether proton or native, I think it's on the game dev
Will always crash after this error message
"MICROSOFT VISUAL C++ RUNTIME LIBRARY
Assertion failed!
Program: ...n-installation/steamapps/common/BattleCry/node.dll File: e:/build/nw30_win64/node-webkit/src/third_par.../node.cc Line: 5069

Awesome
It'll be very laggy at first but keep playing and it'll get so much better.
Works great!
Black artifacts fill the screen on the experimental proton version but works perfectly fine on 5.13-4.
It's crashed on me once and lost a fair amount of progress, so save often! Autosave doesn't happen enough.
Just disable Esync to make textures normal and expect some stuttering the first time you play. Very rarely crashes so save your game.

The game looks and runs amazing on low w/ 2x MSAA and the refresh rate/fps capped at 45.
Runs great
Mouse is choppy in the menu
Will very occasionally crash
It'll occasionally crash and the mouse is kind of laggy in the menu. Besides that it's great. I can play totally maxed out with buttery smooth 170+ fps using the Vulkan renderer.
You cannot even navigate the menu without using PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
Slight crackling
Would occasionally get a randomly spinning white artifact after changing settings in menu. In-game is fine though from what I can tell.
Crazy glitches with menu that affects even outside the game for me until I made Proton use WineD3D
Performance is okay, not what you would expect on Windows
Game will just freeze if you hit "exit game", and hitting alt F4 still keeps it running in the background. The only way to close the game as of now is forcing it closed like with the system monitor. The process is called "shootergame-win"
Will get booted after about 15 seconds from any server
No issues at all. The servers for this game are long dead though so there's no multiplayer or buying any power ups.
Game won't start
Social club goes smoothly, then the game window pops up for a second and then immediately crashes.
Runs perfect, just as stable as Windows.
Single player works flawlessly
I didn't try multiplayer, but using the experimental proton version everything worked out of the box w/ max settings. No issues at all and I didn't have to tweak anything.
Works flawlessly
Using the current experimental proton, everything works perfectly out of the box with no tweaking required. I played through a campaign w/ everything maxed and no issues or glitches in the menus or fullscreen or anything. I got about 300 fps and it was buttery smooth. I'd think I was playing it on Windows. It's certainly come a long way because I remember when you couldn't even get online let alone have a issue-free experience lol.
Performs great
It runs perfectly on my system. I think there may be something wrong with online play (Desyncs every time) but I have no idea if that's to do with running it on Linux or just something on EA's end. This game is a bug fest. I wouldn't recommend it gameplay-wise but it works on Proton.
No major issues, runs great
Menu was buggy after a while of playing with a controller plugged in. Just a little annoying, nothing game breaking.
The game works fine
Mouse disappears anywhere else but the game. You cannot tab out and use the mouse unless you close the game.
Mouse disappears outside of game window. Game will try to get you to update ScummVM version. When starting the game it gives error "The selected audio device 'windows_Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth' was not found. Attempting to fall back to the next available device" but game totally works after clicking "OK".

Use 6.21-GE-2!! Unplayable without it
Your progress will be reset at random
Game will randomly delete your progress
Overall great
When in a level the audio is totally garbled and distorted for me. Not a big deal though.
3 watts to save battery
One of my favorite games to play on Deck. Native Linux and works perfectly.
Borked
The game will technically launch and display a "made in unity" logo or whatever but after is just a black screen and cursor. Nothing else and no amount of waiting changed anything.
I can now briefly see the menu before crashing
Not much but there's progress from almost a year ago. Hopefully this will be playable next year.
Still broken
Will show the menu for a split second before crashing. Tried with proton experimental and the latest GE proton.
Borked in 2025
Still no progress. "Made in Unity" appears, then menu flashes for a split second before the entire game crashes. Tried experimental and the latest GE Proton.
Playable once deleting the into movie. Missing textures and slight frame drops but overall it's alright.
Went into files and removed IntroMovie.wmv
Many units in the game have no textures, and instead are a red, glowing "skeleton". You can still clearly tell what things are.
Would not fullscreen.

deleted IntroMovie.wmv
No more fullscreen issues, bad performance or red "skeletons" from missing textures like the last time I tested two years ago. I couldn't test to see if you still need to delete IntroMovie.wmv when first starting, as it kept my progress from last review and can't find a way to start over.
Regardless, a huge improvement.
Freezes system on startup
No matter what I did, the game would just freeze and lock up my entire computer. I suspect an issue with Uplay Connect but not sure.
