Ran with Proton from day one. No issues this whole time. Super smooth performance. Both mouse and controller input are supported.
Black screen after first cinematic unless D3D10 is disabled
My DS4 controller works flawlessly, however the menus force to use mouse or keyboard for save slot selection. DS4 touchpad works for this, other controllers may not.
Single crash happened after over 20 hours of play
Use "PROTON_NO_D3D10=1 %command%" launch options and play with keyboard and mouse comfortably.

Controller is listed in game menu, but selecting it does not work, it skips to next input method. Playing with Keyboard + Mouse (5 button) scheme just fine.
Surprisingly smooth, around 30 fps on this integrated graphics setup, which is about what I could expect given all the effects.
Certain parts of the game have slightly flickering textures. Things like wall decals and clothing clipping in and out. Very minor.
Picks up local DS4 contriller and remote xbox controller just fine, remote play works very smooth in this game.
wait, was this running with proton? didn't notice :D
originally played this on a dumb phone as a java game, then it was remade for android/ios and as a bonus released on steam. It seems not much care was put into proper gamepad controls on pc. for me it seems to reflect original feel from old phones version quite well. perfect experience on linux
Servers are down and there is no way to even property exit the game.
Game installs and loads just fine, plays intro cinematic, then proceeds to tell me servers are down. Not even main menu, zero offline features to be seen. Only UI was error message and ok button. Pressing ok will show some kind of loading animation for couple seconds and back to same message again. Not even an "exit game" button, Alt+F4 worked for me so that's good at least. Game is completely dead even if you were running it on windows.
gamescope -f -w 1920 -h 1080 -- %command%
For one sitting play, no tinkering needed. You may need to install gamescope
using your package manager.
gamescope -f -w 1920 -h 1080 -- %command%
gamescope
is only needed to alt-tab, tabs back into black screen without it.
Regular Proton 7.0 would not start the game until I ran it with GE once, then switching back would run it just fine. So just start with GE and enjoy.
The "black screen with music" after intro videos goes away in under a minute. Everything else is super solid 👍👍
With "variable framerate" game goes way over 60 FPS on ultra settings 1080p. Super smooth. Perfect controller support, vibrations and everything. Did not expect it to run this well.
Sound crackling just does not allow for complete experience. Literally everything else is fine.
Tested both with Proton 5.13-1 and Proton 5.9-GE-6-ST
Install and run just like any other game.
Game will start in low resolution, could easily configure to 1080p through menus.
The launcher is a white rectangle
Sometimes doesn't even show up. Tried different proton versions and GE. Will have to try bypassing the launcher altogether. For now, though, it's not functional.
These Launch Options helped bypass the launcher:
eval $(echo "%command%" | sed "s|Launcher\/Mirror2.ProjectX.Launcher.exe|ProjectX\/Mirror2\/Binaries\/Win64\/Mirror2_X-Win64-Shipping.exe|")
Thanks, Xeloses.
sub 20 fps after menus
The launcher just does not work. Appears as a white rectangle at best.
Double-cinematic framerates while hardware usage is low, well the music is still good and there are no audio issues!
Fixed 12 fps majority of the time, some parts of prologue are 60fps. It's like there is a performance killer visual effect. Motion blur perhaps?
Main menu runs perfectly fine. No issues with audio. I tried Proton 6.3-2 and Proton-6.5-GE-2. No launch option tweaks introduced any performance change. Mangohud reports rock solid 80-83ms frame times (12fps) while ingame with CPU at 35-45%. GPU keeps at 5-12%, spikes to 80% usage rarely.
I could beat emil with this config.
Out of the box FPS can dip to around 37, all gameplay still feels incredibly smooth with graphical settings maxed out minus AA and blur.
Widescreen fix just works in newer proton, especially GE. Just unpack the archive and edit the pop.ini

Widescreen fix from ps2wide
Game does not react to PS4 controller or Logitech F710 in any way, xinput or dinput doesn't matter. Could not assign any button to them. Steam overlay does not seem to work either.
Top10 game to always have installed on your system.
DS4 controller may have wrong mappings (shows glyphs for wrong buttons), this is a common issue for many games with DS4v2 controllers. Configurable through game menu so not even close to dealbraker.
Tried both proton and native, both run perfectly. I played over 500 hours running the native version, would recommend it.
Native build showed under 30 fps in graphics benchmark, Proton with DX12 runs way above 60, AI benchmark is also 2x faster under Proton. Everything was configured to the lowest settings, 1080p, no fps limiter, no AA.
Outstanding Bullet Hell to run on a Linux system!
Can detect one controller as two devices no matter how steam input is setup, both in Proton and the native build. Playing with keyboard+mouse just works.
Up to 30 FPS, drops to ~16 with lowest settings in 720p, no audio issues, menu is working fine, ingame rendering has inverted colors. I only started the game and entered the first level, no further game progression. Completely borked with black screen and error message if not running with "Wine D3d11" tweak. Disabling D3d11/D3d10 just makes the game exit immediately. With tweak enabled it's playable, guess I could even finish with inverted colors. https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/805492490612828460/17833C42270E236CD2E6F3DC31477732A2647E18/
OOTB experience now with Proton 5.0-9, will take 30+ seconds to show window, then runs at 45-55 fps on max settings 1080p
sounds can get a bit stuttery for couple seconds after tabbing out of and back into the game
Tested with Proton 5.0-9 and Proton-5.9-GE-5-ST. Running with Proton GE game will show 2 unskippable intro videos before steam logo appears. Proton 5.0-9 will not show the videos, thus saving you time. Minimizing fullscreen window works better with Proton 5.0-9 as well. screenshot
Character models (players and mutants) are missing or mangled with dxvk, wine d3d provides correct image.
Only with default launch options, PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 makes the game completely playable.
With winde d3d framerate dips down to 30s but it's playable for this game.
This is a really early report soon after proton experimental added support for Valve's CEG DRM. Expect improvements to OOB experience later.
Finally, completely playable with no tweaks!
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1
is no longer needed, even better performance without it. pretty much 60 FPS lock now.
6.14-GE-2 GloriousEggroll
Highest Shadows setting drops fps 80->20, Normal runs fine. I assume game needs more vram.
