Runs Perfectly on Nvidia Turing and AMD Navi.
As all other games, there will be stuttering in the beginning due to shader caching, can't be helped.
Works flawlessly in Single and Multiplayer mode.
Although I didn't extensively test the multiplayer, my initial playthrough had no problems connecting to the server and played with other players. Local multiplayer also works, and the split screen was implemented very well. If you're looking for a family friendly, party racing game similar to Mario Kart, this is probably it.
Platinum. A fun family friendly local multiplayer racing game
Ignore my previous post. This game currently doesn't have online multiplayer, but the local multiplayer works fine. The split screen is implemented well. This is a good Mario Kart-like racing game for the family or party of friends.
Runs well out of the box
Change the screen size before you change to fullscreen and not the other way around or it will crash.
Only test it out for 15 minutes, but everything seems to run without problems.
But I got an error when quitting the game
"LowLevelFatalError [File:G:\PBCreateRom\Engine\Source\Runtime\Windows\D3D11RHI\Private\D3D11Util.cpp][Line:233] SwapChain->SetFullScreenState(false,NULL) failed at G:\PBCreateRom\Engine\Source\Runtime\Windows\D3D11RHI\Private\D3D11Viewport.cpp:166 with error 887A0022"
Occasionally, what happens after is that the game doesn't close properly and I had to do a hard reset. If anyone can comment on a solution, please post it.
Updated: You need to change the screen to "Borderless Full Screen" in the settings to avoid the LowLevelFatalError. Othewise, game runs smooth so far.
Tried with Ubuntu 19.04 with a i5 2400 and AMD RX 570. Changed to "Borderless Full Screen" in the setting. The game runs on old hardware. Be warned though, there are no cloud saves for this game at the moment.
Okay, so it also works on Manjaro. Still need to change the screen setting to "Borderless Full Screen." However, there is a bug where occasionally the screen size will shrink, particularly in Big Picture Mode. It only happens in Manjaro, and not in Ubuntu. Also, the Cloud Save for this game is broken, I'm not able to continue my saved game on different computers. Otherwise, it runs and plays just fine.
There's an occasional mouse bug that you just need to adjust sensitivity in the settings to make it normal again. Otherwise, hours upon hours of nostalgic enjoyment.
In the BorderlandsGOTYEnhance>Properties>Local Files>Browse Local Files>Binaries>Win64 rename Launcher.exe to Launcher.exe.old and rename BorderlandsGOTY.exe to Launcher.exe & the game should launch. Disable V-sync and set Framerate to Unlimited in Video settings. If using Nvidia GPUs and there's black square artifacting, turn off Depth of Field & Bloom in Video settings.
Second time trying to submit this report. In the BorderlandsGOTYEnhanced>Properties>Local Files>Browse Local Files>Binaries>Win64 rename Launcher.exe to Launcher.exe.old and rename BorderlandsGOTY.exe to Launcher.exe & the game should launch. Proton-6.9-GE-2 (or newer)
Freezes and crashes every time I play a game (1943).
When I start playing, the entire game locks, it will then either crash or freeze the computer entirely. Had to hard reboot once.
Does not run on vanilla Proton, Proton 5 or older.
Once, I got this error. It has something to do with DirectX.
HRESULT=0x887a0001. Invalid call
- Other than that, the emulator looks good and when it runs, it runs well. Hopefully in the future, Glorious Eggroll will come up with a solution.
Proton-6.5-GE-2
Does not work with standard Proton. The game hangs during the introduction cutscene just after the splash screen. My guess is it requires Windows Media Foundation.
It runs with Glorious Eggroll's Proton-6.9-GE-2 but at 30 FPS and still crashes often. Also requires a Microsoft account.
Proton-6.9-GE-2
Even after graphical setting changes recommended by FEUERBEIT, the game will still crash if after you drive to 2 different locations.
You wouldn't want to play it in this state, but if you d, you'll need to follow FEUERBEIT settings and even then, you'll get crashes. You'll also required to have a Microsoft Account.
Basic Settings
- Dynamic Optimization: OFF
- Frame rate: 30 FPS (Better 20 for stability)
- V-sync: OFF
- Full screen: ON
Advanced Settings:
- Use Medium Preset
- MSAA: OFF
- FXAA: ON
Runs great on Proton with 1 critical bug. Otherwise, play it Natively.
Game starts on Windowed mode, but crashes when you switch back from Fullscreen to Windowed. It's best that you leave it in Windowed setting. If you crashed the game, the nuclear option is to delete the entire game folder in the ~/.steam/steamapps/compatdata/ directory and run the game again.
There are no Cloud Saves for HuniePop. Technically not a problem but it's worth noting here. You can find your save files on
~/.steam/steamapps/compatdata/339800/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/LocalLow/HuniePot
Yeah, don't switch Windowed mode to Full Screen. Switching out of Full Screen will crash the game and turn the game unexecutable.
The native version is better, but if you wanted to play the Proton version, it works with Ryzen and Navi.
Platinum experience.
Initial startup is slow but after that, everything is smooth sailing.
- There is no controller support from HuniePot Studios but that's expected.
- There is no cloud saving feature so you'll have to use Nextcloud. Save game folder is at
/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/930210/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/LocalLow/HuniePot
Platinum. But start-up time takes 3 minutes.
When you first boot the game, it'll just show a black screen for 3 to 5 minutes ( a very long load time). Just wait it out, it'll load eventually.
Tested with Xbox and Logitech F310 controller. Works without issue.
Proton-6.10-GE-1
Will not work with Steamplay. Link to Glorious Eggroll's Proton Here
- Download the tar and extract.
- Place it in the $~/.steam/compatibilitytools.d If there isn't any, then create one.
- In steam, Right-Click on Labyrinth City and select Properties > Compatibility. Check the Force Use A Specific Compatibility Tool and select Proton-6.10-GE-1. If it isn't visible, restart steam.
Proton-6.5-GE-2
Crashes when exiting.
Controllers are unusable with Proton-6.10-GE-1 for some reason but works fine with Proton-6.5-GE-2. Link Here
Glorious Eggrolls Proton 6 requires installing Wine 6. Details here for Ubuntu 20.04
Extract the Tar file and place it in folder
$~/.steam/compatibilitytools.d
If you don't have one, just create it.
- Restart Steam if you have it open. Right-click on Labyrinth City and select Properties>Compability. Check the Force Use Specific Compatibility Tool and select your choice of Proton.
Totally borked on Proton.
Platinum
Can't Alt-Tab but you can switch work-space with Ctrl+F2
Crashed 1 time.
It is playable, but I wouldn't recommend this game unless you got it for free.
Runs Well With Proton 6
- No controller support.
- Mouse pointer is extremely small in-game. Changing the size on desktop doesn't help.
- To exit the game, press the back button on the screen until you reach the main menu.
As noted by user Nothor below you will need to download libEGL.dll 32bits 1.3.0.0, D3dcompiler_46.dll 32bits 9.30.960.9200 and libGLESv2.dll 32bits 1.3.0.0 and place them in the .../steamapps/common/Metal Slug folder that is accessible in the Local Files sub menu under Properties. Links to the DLL files are below.
Remember to delete the old libGLESv2.dll or another error will pop up.
It will not work with Proton 5 or 6, it requires Proton 4.
Runs Well.
No controller support. Not Proton's fault, the game doesn't support it.
- The uncensor patch does work.
- No controller support whatsoever.
- If you're unable to launch the game upon installing, restart Steam. It will work with Proton 6 and Proton 5.
Game is playable.
On start-up it lags at the splash screen but if you wait it out it'll be okay.
The first 30 mins or so has horrible stuttering but will be in a playable smooth state after that.
The music is quieter than usual. Not a big deal but noticeable.
For the first 30 minutes to an hour, there is stuttering. It will be gone after that. My guess is the game is downloading shaders. The game is in a playable state after that.
Platinum.
Voices are quiet sometimes. It might be game-related rather than Linux-related
Thanks to User @Crow for this fix below:
- Install cabextract (Debian/Ubuntu/Mint etc)
$ sudo apt-get install cabextract
Download Windows Media Player 11 x64: wmp11-windowsxp-x64-enu.exe
Extract the archive:
$ cabextract wmp11-windowsxp-x64-enu.exe -d wmp11 && cd wmp11
- Set prefix to Windows XP:
$ WINEPREFIX=YOUR_PATH/304240/pfx wine winecfg
Chose "Windows XP" in the drop-down menu and click "OK"
- Install Windows Media Player:
$ WINEPREFIX=YOUR_PATH/304240/pfx wine ./wmfdist11-64.exe
Press Ctrl+C when the installer has finished
$ WINEPREFIX=YOUR_PATH/304240/pfx wine wineboot
$ WINEPREFIX=YOUR_PATH/304240/pfx wine ./wmp11-64.exe
Press Ctrl+C when the installer has finished
$ WINEPREFIX=YOUR_PATH/304240/pfx wine wineboot
- Set prefix to Windows 7. Ready! now the game runs the cutscenes
$ WINEPREFIX=YOUR_PATH/304240/pfx wine winecfg
Crackling is audible, I'm guessing will annoy some players.
I don't know why but I'm getting Err08, which means that I ran out of VRAM... from my RTX 2080 (-_-) Set Texture and Shadow to Low in Video Settings. Even on Medium setting I still got the Err08.
On Proton 5.09 with winetricks, there's a runtime error that occurs everytime I quit the game. Steam crashes entirely and my PC hangs. I had to reboot. Changing to Proton 4.11-13 made the game more stable.
It's probably because I'm running an older Ubuntu and an older wine that this happen.
Definitely the Err08 bug with the VRAM is disappointing as I couldn't play with maximum graphical settings. The game is still playable but I'm haven't tested out long unsaved play.
Also, all these problems is only on this PC. I'll make another report with Manjaro and Navi
Absolutely no problems on Manjaro With Latest Wine, Winetricks and Protontricks. Remember to run your game at least once before running protontricks below
$ protontricks 304240 -q wmp11
Protontricks will download 1.6GB worth of files and setting up filesystem. Everything is automated and should take about 10-15 minutes.
I made an earlier report with an older version of Ubuntu and Wine having significant bugs. You'll not find any of those bugs here. No Err08 error with max graphical settings, no audio bug, no crashes.
Used GloriousEggrolls' Proton-5.8-GE-2-MF
- Go to https://github.com/GloriousEggroll/proton-ge-custom/releases
- Select and download Proton-5.8-GE-2-MF
- Go to ~/.steam/root/ directory and create folder compatibility.d
- Extract the tarball into ~/.steam/root/compatibility.d/
- Restart Steam. Select RE2 game, click on the gear icon on the right side of the page, select Properties then select Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool and click on the dropdown and select Proton-5.8-GE-2-MF
Very minor audio hiccups. Negligible but noticeable.
Will add another report for Navi GPU. Stay tune.
Used GloriousEggrolls Custom Proton-5.8-GE-2-MF. Running RX 5700XT at Max settings, 1080p 144fps, Framerates are consistently over 100fps.
- Go to https://github.com/GloriousEggroll/proton-ge-custom/releases
- Select and download Proton-5.8-GE-2-MF
- Go to ~/.steam/root/ directory and create folder compatibility.d
- Extract the tarball into ~/.steam/root/compatibility.d/
- Restart Steam. Select RE2 game, click on the gear icon on the right side of the page, select Properties then select Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool and click on the dropdown and select Proton-5.8-GE-2-MF
If you haven't, consider being a patron of GloriousEggroll on Patreon. He does good work.
Does not work with Steamplay, requires Glorious Eggroll's Custom Proton 5.21-GE-1 or 6.5-GE-2. Proton 5.21 does not require Wine, but as others below have stated, you'll need to restart the game after 2 hours as the game performance suffers. Proton 6.5 requires Wine version 6 but it does not suffer any performance issues.
Sometimes, the audio is out of sync. But it is very rare and inconsequential.
If you're on Arch or Manjaro, just install Wine from the package manager. For Ubuntu, you'll need to manually add the repository. More details HERE
ROTTR will not work on Native Linux if you have AMD's RX 5700/5700 XT cards. The Navi cards will run ROTTR on Steamplay/Proton
- Before you even begin the game you need to input this command in the terminal
$ echo performance | sudo tee /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu*/cpufreq/scaling_governor
This will greatly improve performance.
- After running the Mountain Peak scenario a few times, it seems that most of the stuttering is due to shaders compiling. If you like you can enable shader pre-caching in Steam Settings. Though I myself find it pointless.
Can run on 4.11-13 with simple launcher. Cannot run on Proton 5.0
Controllers don't seem to work.
I can force-install this game using Proton 4.11-13 using simple launcher but not Proton 5.0 or by using the normal launcher.
You can play it with Proton but I would advise against it. The native version is better, with controllers working.
Platinum
It's a stretch to call it a full game. It's more of a demo with interesting ideas and visuals. It runs perfectly with Proton 6 though.
Proton-6.5-GE-2
Since the remastered version, Samorost 2 will not run on standard SteamPlay. Please use Glorious Eggrolls' Proton-6.5-GE-2
I didn't apply any tweaks, just finished my first playthrough playing the game as is. In this sense, the game runs out of the box, but with some graphical users, but only with those graphical issues. Will apply some of the tweaks mentioned by others in the reports below (above?) with my second playthrough. The game runs good otherwise, no crashes, and you can ignore the "no display adapter" warning, since Windows users report the same problem.
Tested using Manjaro on a Ryzen 5 2600 and GTX 1070. It will load using Wine D3D11 but the graphics won't render proper and frame drops to below 10 FPS. Unplayable basically on Arch. I'll try to play it on Ubuntu and see if that works.
I've tested this game on 3 different PCs. SOTTR only runs on an RTX card it seems. 2 systems I have running on GTX 1070 (with Ryzen 5 2600, on Manjaro) and GTX 1060 (with i3 8100 on Ubuntu Mate) have broken graphics and massive stuttering making them unplayable, but on RTX 2080 (with i7 7700 on Ubuntu Mate) it runs without problem. I don't have any AMD GPU so I can't comment on that.
From what I deduced from the other reports, SOTTR will not launch with my Radeon RX 5700 XT with MESA 19.2.
Crashes even before splash screen
Tried it with Navi cards and Ryzen 3700x too. Will not launch.
RC version of Proton
Slow loading time in between stages but gameplay is smooth. Thank you 0restes for the solution to get Proton 5.0-7 RC
- Go to library
- At the drop-down under of "Games" click "Tools"
- Search for "Proton 5.0" and click on it.
- Click on it's cog on the right hand side of the screen
- Select "Properties" > "Beta" > "Next"
- If you relaunch steam "Proton 5.0" should read "Proton 5.0 [next]" and you should be able to launch Streets Of Rage 4.
RC version of Proton
The loading times in-between stages is slower on Navi cards compared to RTX cards. Significantly slower. It almost seems like it's stalling but it will load eventually. Gameplay is still smooth.
Please also read how to install Proton 5.0-7 RC below.
Streets of Rage 4 has a new location for Steam Cloud Saves, different from your Save Game. You're going to need to symlink these two to sync with Steam Cloud.
To symlink your Saved Game for Steam Cloud.
- Go to .local > share and delete/rename/backup/move the folder "Streets of Rage 4 Save and Config.
- Then type this in terminal
$ ln -s ~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/985890/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/My\ Documents/Streets\ of\ Rage\ 4\ Save\ and\ Config/ ~/.local/share/Streets\ of\ Rage\ 4\ Save\ and\ Config
Note that if you have your Steam library in another drive, you're going to need edit with the path for your drive.
Initial Impressions: The Room Runs Perfect.
I've only dabbled in it for 15 minutes. If there's a change I'll write another report but from what I've gathered, The Room has no issue on Steamplay
Glorious Eggrolls Proton-6.5-GE-2
Controller not supported. It's a Point & Click game afterall. Link to Glorious Eggroll's custom proton here
Will Require Media Foundation dll To Unlock The Complete Version Of The Game. Runs Fantastic Otherwise.
Having the Media Foundation is PARAMOUNT to get the full complete version of the game, as the Change Your Fate mode will not trigger unless you pass the final cutscene.
How To:
- Go here github:z0z0z/mf-install
- Download the zip files by selecting the green button marked Code at the right side of your screen.
- Extract the files and open the folder in terminal
$ cd Downloads/mf-install-master
- Use this command:
$ WINEPREFIX=YOUR_PATH/steamapps/compatdata/456750/pfx ./mf-install.sh
- Restart Steam and play the game. You will still be missing a whole chunk of the cutscene unfortunately but you should get the Change Your Fate mode now.
There is tiny bit of micro-stuttering from my Navi GPU compared to my RTX GPU. Nvidia cards had a smoother experience but it's very very tiny that most won't even notice it.
I also tried to install Media Foundation through Protontricks but it didn't work. I had to do it manually.
The Room Two Runs Without Issues with Proton 5.09
Didn't need to disable D3D11, the game runs out of the box with Proton 5.09 on Navi and Ryzen with all drivers up do date.
Borked on Proton 5.09. Runs fine on Native.
I've tried using "PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%" but no luck. The game hangs even before reaching the splash screen. I've even tried GloriousEggroll's custom Proton-5.8-GE-2-MF but no dice.
I'm doubtful it's my Navi card driver issue since it runs well on Native. I might try it with Proton 4 and see if that will work.
Runs on Proton 4.11-13 with a Fullscreen mode bug. Borked on Proton 5.09. Native is fine.
Switching from Fullscreen to Windowed and back again will result in the game defaulting to 800x600 resolution with no option for any other. Fullscreen mode will get stuck at 800x600, restarting the game won't do you any good. I chose the nuclear option and deleted the compatdata folder (282070) and re-ran the game again.
Not a problem but a worth noting: Unlike many other games, the SteamCloud saves for This War Of Mine is the same for both Native and Steamplay. The save files are located here:
~/.local/share/Steam/userdata/111868028/282070/remote
This War Of Mine will not run with Proton 5. It will hang at launch even before reaching the splash screen. Using Runtime Config Launch Options do not help. It will run on Proton 4.11-13
I would highly recommend sticking to Native; this version has no bugs as of the time of this writing.
I have Next Gen settings on and don't seem to have a problem. Everything works fine.
If you're playing TL2 natively on Manjaro, there are 2 methods to get it running. You don't need to do both, just do 1:
- Make a symlink of libfontconfig.so.1
$ ln -s ~/.local/share/Steam/ubuntu12_32/steam-runtime/amd64/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libfontconfig.so.1 ~/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/Torchlight\ II/lib64
or,
- Go to TL2 > Properties > General > Set Launch Option:
LD_PRELOAD=~/.local/share/Steam/ubuntu12_32/steam-runtime/amd64/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libfontconfig.so.1 %command%
If you have Navi graphic cards, you might see some graphical artifacting on your character model. Go to in-game settings and disable "Hardware Skinning." There'll still be some artifacting with your model in the inventory ui, but overall the gameplay graphics won't be affected.
TL2 runs better on Steamplay/Proton compared to Native with Navi Cards
On Native TL2, there are graphical artifacting (see my other report below) with Navi Cards. No such artifacting occurs with Steamplay version. There might be some microstuttering - possibly due to shader compiling - but overall Torchlight II runs better on Proton with Navi Cards compared to Native.
Works great with Nvidia GPU. But Steam Cloud does not work for TL2 on Proton.
Steam Cloud does not work with TL2 on Steamplay. Instead, it only works on Native TL2. It could be that that TL2 on Proton is saved in a different folder for upload but I couldn't find it. So if you're playing TL2 on Steamplay, you can't rely on Steam Cloud to sync all saved games to different PCs.
A workaround is using Nextcloud to store your TL2 Saved Games. Simply symlink your saved game folder to Nextcloud desktop.
TPH works well with Steamplay
The default Two Point configuration will have a conflict making your keyboard unusable when you have your controller plugged in.
To fix this you'll need to import another Controller Configuration. On your Steam UI, go to Two Point Hospital, click on "Controller Configuration" tab on the far right. Click on "Browse Configs," then "Community." Make you sure you select "Show Other Controller Types" and select "Simple Steam Controller by GingerbreadFred" configuration.
This config doesn't conflict with your keyboard or mouse.
RTX cards seems to be not compatible with TPH running Native Linux. You'll get red outlines all over the game that makes it unsightly and in my opinion, unplayable. GTX cards don't have this problem and neither do AMD's Navi cards.
TPH works great natively and on Proton with Navi Cards.
I've only experienced this on Manjaro; plugged in controller (Logitech F710) will conflict with keyboard regardless of your Controller Configuration. You will need to unplugged your controller before you launch TPH if you want to use your keyboard.
Steam Cloud does not work with TPH on Steamplay. It seems it can only detect Linux folders and not Steamplay folders. I've tried to move/symlink the save files to different locations but it ended up getting deleted when syncing to Steam cloud.
If you want to sync to different computers, the best solution is either play TPH natively, or to sync your save files with Nextcloud.
TPH works great natively on Linux with Navi Cards, unlike RTX where there is major graphical glitch (red outlines all over). You could play this game natively without problems, but you could also play TPH on Steamplay without problems. Either way is good.
Platinum Experience.
Sometimes it crashes but it's uncommon and I'm betting it happens on Windows too so I wouldn't worry about it.
Platinum
If you're playing 4K, set the Graphics to Medium. It's quite taxing even on a RTX 3070 at High settings or above.
