Toggling between windowed mode and fullscreen mode crashes the game. Upon starting the game again it will be in the display mode you tried to change to. Switching to Proton 4.11-13 fixes this.
Other than that input issue (that is platform agnostic) the game runs completely fine.
Game defaults to a windowed mode, that will trigger FSR scaling if enabled. This makes the pixel art look blurred. Recommend switching to fullscreen in options.
Steam Deck controls did not work on inital launch. Problem was fixed by plugging in a keyboard, navigating to the game options, selecting controller and mapping the buttons. Takes a couple seconds and your controller will work on launch from that point onward.
Keymapping is weird.
Community layouts didn't work
Worked perfectly
I completely mastered the game under Linux. Not really a resource hog of a game, so you'd expect it to work flawlessly, which it did.
No issues. Unless there's something I didn't run across, I'd call this "Verified".
The game has to be run using Wine D3D instead of DXVK, otherwise the game goes down to ~30 FPS and gets too slow, almost unplayable.
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
Game runs very slow on DXVK, everything looks fine on Wine D3D.
Runs perfectly
I finished the game using PS4 controller with no issues.
Runs well out of the box
Change the screen size before you change to fullscreen and not the other way around or it will crash.
Runs well out-of-the box, might run your fan a bit high though
Booting up the game for the first time brings you to a friendly controller config screen. Worked with my 8BitDo SNES30 out of the box.
Game runs well, Steam controller integration is not the best but playable.
Steam controller wasn't detected unless powered on before the game started. Occasionally the attack button would trigger the main menu to open.
When changing the resolution in fulscreen in cause the game to crash.
Runs perfectly. Just install and play
You can't attack because the game controls are not mapped correctly :( The only way is to play with a keyboard.
It starts in windowed mode, then I change it to fullscreen, and when trying to go back to windowed the game would became stuck.
I couldn't close it and it was totally unresponsive although the music was still playing. The only way I could close it was with a kill -9.
This is on an XBox controller. The attack button X would open the menu for the game, so actually, attacking was impossible.
copy 32bit d3dcompiler_43.dll and d3dx9_43.dll to game exe folder
This game worked very well on my system.
The game doesn't suffer at *all.* Plays exactly how it would on a Windows machine.
Some minor music glitches are present, but these glitches are also present in the Windows version. Simply reload the level if the music for any stage doesn't play.
Played through the whole thing, no issues at all.
Runs perfectly even on this ancient hardware. Only tweak is using compton as compositor for better vsync, as slight stuttering occurs when using xfwm.
Only encountered a singe error and that is that the game doesn't properly exit while in full screen. You'll have to stop the proton process yourself. Can be "fixed" by setting the game to windowed before exiting.
Game runs fine on Xubuntu 18.04.2 LTS.
By default it launches with a black screen, the game works but you can't see anything. Adding any Environment Variables caused the game to not launch.

Won't even launch
Playable from start to finish.
No issue whatsoever.
Xbox one controller used to work out of the box. Functionality can easily be simulated using steams controller configuration. After that. Finished games with no issue
Doesn't work with XBox360 controller. Up is always pressed. Audio is choppy
No issues with any aspect. was played with a USB SNES controller.
Works fine with PS3 controller. Audio is choppy but not terribly.
Performance is good, solid 60fps, no lag, jitter or anything like that. Played for 15 minutes and died at the first boss. Didn't test controller but I suppose there shouldn't be anything wrong with that either.
Everything works as normal including controller support
full controller support
game can't close whit the dock
Works exactly same as windows
