Great visuals, story and runs great on deck as well.

Runs very great and out of the box. No tinkering or whatsoever.

Switched to the beta version dx11_non-rt in the Steam game properties (under the Betas tab), then launched the game, went to Graphics settings, and changed the API from DX12 to DX11.
At first the game ran fine, but after a while some graphic glitches started showing up—textures stretching, breaking, etc. After switching to DX11 as suggested by another ProtonDB user (thank you VHXM), the game now runs perfectly with no graphical issues. Great experience overall!

Works out of the box
No tinkering needed

If your game stucks on load screen or have cutscene issues: just go to the game properties on steam, go to the beta's tab and change to DX11 beta. Now you just need do open the game > settings > graphics > change the api device to DX11 instead of DX12. NOW HAVE FUN!!!

black screen
i installed the game correctly. but when running the re2.exe file in order to play the game, it shows me only an black screen , and using my ram and cpu also for note. i tried many ways, many GE-proton versions, many non-ge-proton versions like expermintal, but failed with an black screen and cant play it :(
Works perfect out of the box

Played with GE-Proton9-25 (use GE-Proton for properly video codecs) in Recommended settings, 1080p windowed fullscreen with 60 FPS stable. Ray tracing and FSR 1.0 off.
Runs without any issues.
Switch to proton GE in order to fix the camera footages.

Video and images not displaying, using GEProton fixed it.

A minority of the textures had ghosting issues.

I Iike to have a L3 run button. Also turned on Gyro with a low sensibility for micro ajustments in my aiming. Also lowered the joypad sensibility a bit.
For a stable 40fps:
I left everything as default except FidelityFX Super Resolution 1.0, which I turned off. You get a sharper and clear image.
In the Steam Deck Performance tab: Frame Limit: 40 FPS Allow Tearing: On TDP Limit: Off Manual GPU Limit: 1600 mhz

MInor nitpick: the side menu (from pressing the "..." button) was slightly stretched, with only half of the upper bar (where the time and battery icon is) showing. The time was still readable.
I have played the game via family share so it does not shown as me owning it.

Disable Ray tracing, set a FPS cap and spend a bit of time tweaking your settings to find a suitable frame rate.
Ray Tracing usually bugged the game out into soft locking within a few mins.
Alt-Tabbing would someting bug out gnome
I have a near solid 120fps with everything but ray tracing (disabled) on high with FSR ultra quality. haven't tried with downscaling.
Traversal stutter after going through doors in the police station

I needed the Proton-GE to be able to view in-game media, such as the content of VHS tapes
There are no bugs or general issues with the game. I only needed Proton-GE to be able to view in-game media/videos, such as the content of VHS tapes.

with ray tracing enabled my frames would go form 110 to 60 and back making it uncomfortable.
turned raytracing off getting around 180 fps with maxxed out settings .

GE Proton seems to be required to watch the videos within cutscenes, but other than that it works OOB.

Occasionally, it would not be able to launch properly without completely restarting my OS. I've had this issue occur with one other game (Ace Combat 7) and I have no idea what causes it, as it doesn't appear to be consistent.
I had a rare bug where all of my menu sounds would become inaudible, though this issue seems to occur on Windows as well. Additionally, the game occasionally makes my GPU run very warm in specific environments (i.e. certain hallways or cutscenes), but performance does not seem to degrade.

At the start of the game when it's raining, you can see some missing texture-like artifacts on the some water drops ( purple ). I didn't see it anymore after that. I can't tell whether it was because I changed some graphical settings or it happens just at the start.
I've played it with ALMOST maxed out settings, including ray tracing. The performance was fine. Once in a while, generally only in a specific room, where the FPS would heavily drop, but apart from that it was perfectly fine and playable from start to finish.

This game runs extremely good on the Steam Deck for how good it looks. Played it out of the box with the Steam Deck plugged into a 1080p TV. Played through the whole game without even noticing I am on the Deck. Very well optimized, a must play imo

Não tive nenhum problema de performance, o jogo rodou liso, o único problema que eu tive foi uma cutscene que era a tela do computador, que não mostrou a imagem.

These settings prioritise good image quality while still maintaining 60fps with HDR at 800p. No need for FSR.
Set Steam Deck OLED to 60Hz in overlay
Display->HDR Mode: On
Graphics-> Display Mode: Full Screen Resolution: 1280x720 (Ray Tracing: Off) Rendering Mode: Normal Image Quality: 100% FidelityFX Super Resolution 1.0: Off Refresh Rate: 60.00Hz Frame Rate: 60 V-Sync: On Anti-aliasing: FXAA+TAA Texture Quality: High (3GB) Texture Filter Quality: High (ANISO x8) Mesh Quality: High Shadow Quality: Medium Shadow Cache: On Contact Shadows: On Screen Space Reflections: Off Subsurface Scattering: On Volumetric Lighting Quality: Medium Partical Lighting Quality: High Ambient Occlusion: SSAO Bloom: On Lens Flare: On Motion Blur: On Depth of Field: On Lens Distortion: On (+chromatic aberration) Film Noise: On
This gives a no-compromise play of the game at 720p 60fps with HDR.

Runs great, got it running at full 90fps on my OLED Deck with no drops on mid/high settings
Text on the menus is a little small. I think it's still very readable, but something to keep in mind if you have a visual impairment.
Presets for 90fps:
Display Mode: Full Screen
Resolution: 1200x800
Ray Tracing: Off
FidelityFX Super Resolution 1.0: Balanced
Refresh Rate: 90hz
Frame Rate: Variable
V-Sync: On
Anti-aliasing: TAA
Texture Quality: High (3GB)
Texture Filter Quality: High (ANISO x8)
Mesh Quality: High
Shadow Quality: Medium
Shadow Cache: On
Contact Shadows: On
Screen Space Reflections: On
Subsurface Scattering: Off
Volumetric Lighting Quality: High
Particle Lighting Quality: High
Ambient Occlusion: FidelityFX CACAO
Bloom: On
Lens Flare: On
Motion Blur: Off
Depth of Field: On
Lens Distortion: On (+chromatic aberration)
Film Noise: On (This doesn't effect performance, just preference)

Works OOTB
glitches cutscenes with default Proton
same cutscene glitch as RE8

Proton GE is required for videos to play otherwise they are just coloured bars, rest of the game works fine on regular Proton

Work out of the box

the game runs perfectly out of the box
i noticed some minor artifacts in the water

Made it about 1/4 of the way through the game with no issues thus far.
