Works perfect.
Dunno what I was doing wrong before, but I tried it again and it just works.
EAC seems to be the sole culprit of it not working at all.
Stuttering that looks like shader compilation
Anticheat
Game appears to work flawlessly, but anticheat wont let you actually play for more than a few minutes before kicking you out. Offline training (where anticheat doesn't seem to be involved) works perfect.
Finally runs!!! My current issues are minor for a casual player, but might bother someone more demanding.
Background audio feature doesn't work as expected sometimes.
Seemingly cant disable vsync. Input is a bit laggier and fps is capped to refresh, no matter how I set it.
It could have to do with the fact proton does not support nvidia reflex by default, or that I seemingly can't disable vsync, but I felt significantly more input lag. Its by far not unplayable but I feel can be a disadvantage.
Shader compilation is brutal on a few matches before it stops stuttering in a given map, I played a bit and it gets smoother but have not yet.
When going back to lobby after a match, I get a lot of lag and 100% GPU use until next match.
Some weird rubberbanding when I stop my character happens sometimes.
Not a hitch with EAC! Its finally happening!!
Played a few matches, still feels worse than Windows overall, but is very much playable. Most of its problems are minor.
I will be playing it more as it is now that I can finally play it without a reboot to Windows.
A few more hours into it and it seems perfect apart from a couple of issues.
Vsync cant seem to be turned off causing input lag (xorg)
After playing it for a bit more it seems to be working almost flawlessly. Shader compilation took a LONG time on my computer. It gets smooth as butter after its done, but its really annoying in the meantime. Vsync still cant be disabled for me even on xorg, causing input lag. This is compounded by the fact proton doesnt support nvidia reflex OOTB, requiring some tinkering. If slightly higher input lag doesnt bother you, this is perfect. Overall good enough for me, bye bye windows partition.
Played for more hours, after a few updates and its perfect.
Perfect. EAC still works smoothly for me at the moment. No issues that can be atributed to Linux.
Runs smoothly without any issue. Proton should be including Latencyflex by defaut!
Works perfect OOTB
Just runs on Proton 6.3-4, no tweaks at all needed for me. Have not tried multiplayer.
Annoyed at the small bit of hackery this game requires to work, but its very playable once it works.
Fonts are wrong
Mouse with incorrect picking when on maximized window, works fine on fullscreen or unmaximized window
Needed "PROTON_LOG=1 %command%" on startup options to even start.
Nothing at all.
Not on Proton, not on Proton GE, nothing shows up, game refuses to start up at all.
Its at a point where its playable with latest Proton. But you will have to put up with more glitches than Windows
Missing audio is fixed on latest Proton, but it still crackles a lot.
All sorts of artifacts, blinking textures and the like. Sometimes things will be completely missing. Everything has a weird "grain" to it I suspect has to do with forced-on TAA being broken.
Significantly slower than on Windows
Seems to crash more than on Windows.
Ray Tracing doesnt work at all.
For some reason my older report wasnt approved, so here my updated take, Its mostly good with some graphical glitches remaining. RT doesnt work at all and performance is significantly impacted on Proton.
The graphical glitches when compared to Windows are still pretty distracting, but with my GPU, its playable and possibly finishable now.
Illuminations completely broken, everything looks yellow
About 20-40 fps slower than on Windows
VKD3D_CONFIG=dxr11 PROTON_CONFIG=dxr11 VKD3D_FEATURE_LEVEL=12_1 PROTON_HIDE_NVIDIA_GPU=0 PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 DXVK_ASYNC=1 %command% --launcher-skip
10-20 fps hit
Turns out I had the sandstorm bug, unrelated to Proton. Fixed it and played for like an hour and everything looks perfect, with raytracing and DLSS. Takes around a 10-20fps hit compared to Windows though.
Opens and closes
Opens up idlauncher, then immediatly closes without error. Same issue with Lutris/Proton-GE
Works really well, but only after tweaks.
Tabbing out of the game causes it to freeze.
Managed to get it to work with newer vulkan-icd-loader from a PPA, despite Steam Runtime theoretically having the latest version. I havent had issues with audio.
Probably a pain for your "typical gamer", otherwise it actually runs faster than on Windows now.
Starts up to a black screen
As some other people reported, the game starts up to a black screen and stays there. Also tried the proposed solutions, and using another version of Wine through Lutris without sucess.
keyboard stops working sometimes, restarting the game fixes it
game lags a bit.
couldnt run the game before, reinstalled and updated lutris to use wine 5.0, and its playable now.
Occasional crashes with esync on
Came back to finish it, and noticed I actually had some very minor graphical corruption before that I dont anymore on the latest version of Proton. None of the performance degradation or any of the input bugs on tabbing I had before. Only thing I had to do was disable esync to fix occasional crashes. Very nice to still see such improvement in Wine gaming in practice.
Just works.
It just worked for me. If you have problems with EAC, try installing manually from Steam by selecting tools in the library and installing EAC. Sometimes games will not do so automatically.
works, playable but glitchy
fullscreen not "full", with flickering and artifacts outside the game area.
It works great if you avoid alt-tabbing, otherwise it causes mouse input issues.
Audio crackles rarely, this one is not noticeable if you are not looking for it, but it is there.
Alt-Tabbing the game too much causes mouse input to lag the game. Must be played without tabbing out if you are using a mouse. Keyboard and controller input are not affected.
Just works
They are not blocking Proton users at all.
Worked with controller + keyboard
Pretty good overall, despite small issues.
On some occasions, audio channels are inverted
Main launcher doesnt display anything, can be blindly navigated with the keyboard to launch games
Subtitles are missing
Needs older Proton GE 6.21-1 for the videos do work without being garbled. Havent had any stability issues yet. Subtitles are missing which can be annoying if your mother tongue isnt in the game.
Subtitles are missing
Game can get pretty crashy
Needs older Proton GE 6.21-1 for the videos do work without being garbled. After putting time on it, it seems it has some issues with crashing. Subtitles are missing which can be annoying if your mother tongue isnt in the game.
Cant play solely due to EAC, thanks Epic and PUBG!
Isnt able to start at all.
Tried all the tricks, it just plain doesnt work.
It needed visual C installed to run and older Proton. Once it ran, it worked pretty well. Couple of crashes I had on Windows too, so no big deal.
Just works, no fuss
On GNOME I have to tab out of it from overview, otherwise it will glitch
Works really well with latest Proton
Did not launch with latest Proton, working with lutris-ge-6.21-1. Also needed to disable Lutris runtime so my controller was detected.
Worked out of the box.
Couple of crashes (and proton really needs to integrate latencyflex by default) but no other issues.
Crashing a lot since a recent update
Its a little bit slower, and camera movement is less responsive. Looks like vsync can't be disabled.
After the last update it is crashing a lot.
After another update, the game crashes so much its now unplayable.
I could play it before despite crashing, after the latest update I can't get past the main menu.
Fixed all the crashing by using Proton Hotfix instead of Proton Experimental, the one recommended by default by Steam.
Works perfectly with better FPS, lower input lag and no crashing.
Works perfectly OOTB
All the bugs have been fixed since i last played it and performance is much better.
Still complaining about missing codec and refusing to start
Works on latest Proton without any tinkering, but has graphical glitches where video files would have been. Works perfectly on Proton GE
Tried launching with default settings, and forcing to proton 7.0, but the game only really opens with GE7-26 as suggested here. It works perfectly otherwise.
Just Works
Has a small bug on the Shift key, but its a game bug that also happens on Windows
