Significant framerate dips while panning camera
Very stuttery and unpleasant to play due to camera panning issues. Tried many different graphics settings and still GPU usage and framerate will tank when moving camera. Could have to do with my laptop integrated GPU (i have no option via supergfxctl to use only discrete GPU, just hybrid).
Bad performance
Unplayable performance in-game
Tried both standard Proton and latest GE
eval $( echo VKD3D_CONFIG=no_upload_hvv PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=90 "%command%" | sed "s/launcher-se\/Paradox Launcher.exe'.*/AOW4.exe'/")
With stated launch options, runs fine. Late game can dip to 40fps though
Crashed once in 7 hours playtime
Very buggy, framerate dips to 20s in the late game
Unplayable bad vanilla performance
Game will randomly bring my entire system down to a crawl, maybe some kind of memory leak issue?
The native version might run well but controller support was lacking out of the box so I tried GE-Proton. Controllers worked OOB but I experienced two crashes in a couple hours of gameplay. The game would slow down my system for around 20 seconds before crashing.
framerate dips at times from 60 on max settings but otherwise great performance
Doesn't Launch

No rumble (important for this style of game)
The game is VERY finicky to start. Game crashes instantly on running the Proton 7 (every other version at least gets to a Window). At first was only able to start the game with GE-Proton, but after doing that once it stopped working on subsequent launches. Experiented with all manner of Proton versions, unplugged peripherals, used launch option "gamemoderun PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 %command%" to no avail. Finally figured out the solution, which was to enable Steam Input for the game. I turned it off to get the rumble to work, but it turns out the game can't launch without it. Which is a bummer because I can't figure out how to get rumble to work through Steam Input.
Like previously noted, audio issue on suspend resume. Not a big deal but annoying.
The game is very taxing, runs at 40-60 fps on a last gen laptop with everything cranked all the way down
Game crashes whenever you access the map
Frequet stuttering and freezes
Game is kind of a mess right now, but if the map issue gets fixed it will be mostly playable
Significant stuttering problems
Game consistently crashes in the morgue cutscene
opening cutscene does not play
Just tested the beginning of DMC1 and indeed the opening cutscene did not play, even on latest GE-Proton. It's perfectly playable but not the full experience
Cutscenes on GEProton7-33 now play the first few seconds without audio and upside down
Small progress being made, but still should be considered borked without functioning cutscenes
Crashed once in 5 hours of play
Even with a 3070 only gets around 60 fps on low. FSR helps issue but looks blurry. Some brief stutters here and there. May not be an issue with Linux specifically.
Steam overlay is broken with this game. Steam will constantly open and close for me when I try and shift-tab
Had some issues with sound crackling and speeding up out of sleep mode but I think an OS update fixed it. Ran perfectly all the way through.
Had some issues with sound crackling and speeding up out of sleep mode but I think an OS update fixed it. Changing the font files caused no issues. Ran perfectly all the way through.
For some reason, game didn't start after downloading and I had to verify game files. Worked fine after that. DIsabled the dynamic resolution scaling and can get steady 40 fps with some occasional dips in towns.
Game would slow down to 40 fps randomly and often stay there. Could just be a bad port thing. Restarting fixed issue.
For a PS2 games, it doesn't seem well optimized and you'll have to run medium settings to get locked 60fps
Game opens up to a blank screen
After new expansion Endwalker release, was able to boot into the launcher and download the update just fine. After that, game opens up to audio but an otherwise blank screen. Presumably this is because of some opening cutscene, but changing the CutsceneMovieOpening value in FFXIV.cfg from 1 to 0 or vice versa does nothing.
Have to make changes to config files for it to function properly, but runs well inside Proton with latest graphics drivers
Was able to get the game working by unchecking the "use DX11" option in the launcher. Was able to use DX11 before Endwalker released. Doesn't seem to be any performance hits so far.

You have to install FFXIVLauncher with this method: https://gist.github.com/Centzilius/57892e5d1aaea51b3f389e6f1d587c97. After that, you can run the game using the latest GE-Proton (you only need 6.21-GE-2 for the installer to show up). After that the game runs fine, although I did experience one crash in +10 hours of playing.
DXVK_FRAME_RATE=60 %command%
M+KB doesn't work with controller plugged in, not sure if a Linux issue or not
Works shockingly well on Linux with zero tinkering (framelimit is just so the engine doesn't bug out). Very consistent frametimes, has not crashed once in 8 hours, absolutely no modding neccessary.
DXVK_FRAME_RATE=120 gamemoderun %command%
The game dips to as low as 40 FPS in the open world just moving the camera around
You need to limit framerate to as high as 120 fps or your movement speed will randomly speed up
"DXVK_FRAME_RATE=60 %command%" to limit frame rate but otherwise very good experience. One crash in 23 hours of play.
Game runs flawlessly. Did not even experience stuttering from Denuvo like others have said (my friend's game playing on Windows stutters constantly, so maybe Proton prevents this somehow)

Tried various versons of Proton
Game always crashes when launching the sandbox mode
annoyingly opens on whatever window your cursor is on, but not a big deal
slowdown with borderless fullscreen
it was weirdly locked to 30fps for gameplay, I think issue went away when switching from borderless fullscreen
Little bit of slowdown when starting the game and before/after missions not present on Windows version. Results in longer load times
Crashed twice in around four hours of play. Also crashes in Windows so who knows
Controller doesn't work on the main menu. May not be Proton-related.
Occasionally stutters and drops framerate
Origin launches fine for me, tested both with GE 7.0 and current Proton build 6.3-8
This game should not be Platinum-rated
Intro and Covenant 25 cutscenes do not play
The game plays perfectly, but it's silly for this to be Platinum with non-functioning cutscenes. They may not be very important but the game is not 100% as-is

The game plays perfectly, but it's silly for this to be Platinum with non-functioning cutscenes. They may not be very important but the game is not 100% as-is. A new user might think the game is borked since it's just a black screen until you press something.
It works now
Installs EAC files at first launch so I assume they enabled support. Played many multiplayer games no problem.
Game Resolution
To fix jagged in-game text - Go to game properties and switch to 1080p resolution. Than use 75% esolution scaling in the in-game graphics settings if you wish. Will run the game at roughly 720p while keeping the text sharp
Opens up at a weird resolution but resolves itself
Has non-gamepad controller glyphs throughout
No sounds on any Proton version I tried
Green lines on the train section
Crashed upon wake from sleep and reset the device
gamemoderun %command%
I played the base game just fine, this is for after the graphical update and playing the Shadow of Rose DLC. The game was very rough on GE-Proton 7-43 with visual bugs and frequent freezes I needed to Alt-F4 out of. Proton 7.0-5 ran better but still crashed, albeit less often. I needed gamemoderun to max out my framerate but there were still frequent dips here and there with GPU usage less than 80%.
Nonfunctional
2560x1440 seemingly not supported
Crashes when clicking on "Profile"
ERROR in action number 1 of Draw Event for object o_control: unable to add a number to string gml_Object_o_control_Draw_0 (line 1471)

Character model in pause screen is very pixelated
Fullscreen is not initially full, need to switch to Windowed mode back to Fullscreen
GPU doesn't run maxed, so I only get 60-80fps during gameplay despite new hardware. Battle menu runs 24fps for some reason.
Significant workarounds needed and the experience is subpar

Game consistently crashes during phase 2 of the Tiamat fight, completely locks up GNOME requiring hard reboot
Character model in pause screen is very pixelated
Significant workarounds needed, the experience is subpar and there appears to be a game-breaking bug in one of the missions
Game only launches the first time you start it. Subsequent launches get blocked somehow by the third-party launcher.
Noticed some crackling a couple of times
Game crashes on switching to 800p
Frametimes slightly wobbly; sometimes framerates will inexplicately dip when GPU isn't maxed out
Game kept crashing on Proton and Experimental
Game crashed in the Lobby for Proton and Proton Experimental
Game slows down and has graphical bugs on latest GE-Proton
Seems fine?
Seems to be an odd issue where you can launch the game once, but subsequent times you need to change Proton versions?
I've gotten startup errors that were corrected by switching to Experiemental and Hotfix
Sometimes fails to start, just need to launch it again and everything is perfect
Framerate drops in the battle hub and some story mode areas but I think it's like that in Windows as well
Game runs quite bad and lags before you cast new abilities
Frequent crashes on Experimental and GE, only got it to run stable on 7.0-4
Works as you could expect. Did not even experience significant slowdown in the late-game as others have.
Couldn't tab our for some reason. Maybe just a general issue with the game itself.
Opening cutscene has some artifacts
Worked flawlessly after some frame stuttering on first boot
audio cut out once or twice while playing, not noticeable at all
Some stuttering when initially played, despite 100+ fps. Fixed after a restart
Also ran with GE-Proton7-28 and used CookiePLMonster's SilentPatch
Lighting issues throughout the game. You can see flickering on distant moving bodies. Black character models in certain cutscenes really hamper enjoyment
For some reason, even though there are issues with lighting in indoor cutscenes on my desktop, everything seems to run perfectly here. You can't quite run at a stable 40 fps at decent settings but you can get close enough.
