Originally had screen tearing issues; those went away after switching to Wayland.
Pretty noticeable screen tearing while walking around on the world map or in towns and dungeons. I tried some workarounds documented by others (adding dxvk.conf, etc.) but the only thing that got me clear was switching from x11 to Wayland.
Font mods work the same as Windows.

Same as last report, I encountered a total freeze in a specific autobattle scenario (change of jobs, no mana, a character gets stuck). Save often. Apart from that, runs well on Deck and good game, like the other Pixel Remasters !

I had 3 occasions where the auto battle would be on, and nothing would happen at all. Nothing I pressed seemed to fix the situation, so I had to restart. It only occured to me during grinding sessions, and I believe it happened when the game tried to make a character use a spell/summon while they didn't have the MP for it. In any case it happened rarely. I suggest quick saving often while grinding.
Outside of my 1 issue, the game seems to work perfectly.
Steam overlay is broken with this game. Steam will constantly open and close for me when I try and shift-tab
On an NTFS drive, the game took a very, very long time to start on the first boot. Smooth sailing afterwards.
Using Proton 8.0-2.

runs well, custom font mods work too if you hate the official font
Wayland is great
Did switch distros from X11 to wayland and screen tearing is a thing of the past for the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster games.
Audio problems such as crackling or muting can manifest when waking from sleep, requiring a restart. This happens inconsistantly.
First launch froze several times, requiring a Steam Deck restart. After the first launch, it launched without issue on subsequent starts.
Works perfectly when installed on linux drive
Do not install this on a NTFS drive, game will not launch, if installed on BTRFS or some other linux FS, it works perfectly.

There is a scanline (line mirroring wrap) that is visible frequently while moving around the map (overworld and dungeon).
