Decky Frame Gen plugin fix Fps issue for steam deck i basic get 40-60fps play the game now when i have it on

Runs too poorly on deck to be worth it imo. There are better final fantasy's and jrpgs anyways.
The game has extreme fps drops and overall runs really poorly. Also the games engine is tied to the fps. So if you set it to a 120 cap and you run the game at 3on the steam deck for instance the game will play at a snails pace.
If you only have a deck pass on this. If you have a beefy rig then this should be just fine to play. Otherwise, steer clear.

Overall an okay experience marred by specific, minor graphical issues and more significant performance hitches due to being a sloppy port.

- In-game videos will not have any video output on all official Proton versions; Proton-GE is required for them to play properly.
- Some (but not all) in-game videos are heavily artifacted for some reason---most notably the video that plays before Jack wakes up in the tutorial flower field at the start of the game.
- Known issue of characters looking heavily aliased and low-resolution in the battle settings screen. Fine otherwise once in a mission.
Typical poor Squeenix port. Framerate can be very inconsistent and stuttery. There is a well-known issue where performing a Soul Burst and leaving the camera in the cinematic position causes a significant increase in frame time for seemingly no reason---performance is fine if you force the camera out of its cinematic mode by switching lock-on targets.
DLSS helps a lot. At 1440p with max settings, using the Quality preset generally keeps the game at 120FPS; even Soul Bursts cause only a barely noticeable dip.

Needing to install GE is a no-go for most people. Gameplay performance, even with GE is not acceptable.
Cut scene audio is perfect, combat audio is significantly lower quality.
Frequent hitches and frame drops
Maybe with better hardware the game would perform better. On my hardware, it loads, and "works" the performance just isn't at a level I can personally deal with.

Previously I reported as borked, I could fix it after reinstalling my system. I noticed I was using amdvlk, after changing to vulkan-radeon now it works

C++ 2019-22 needed

With GE-Proton8 and regular Proton the videos didn't work for me. With GE-Proton7 video works fine and the game runs well.

Multiple prefixes always stuck in a loading screen when starting. Waited for 1hr and nothing.
Tried multiple versions of GE, tried regular proton 8.0.4, no luck. Did not get stuck on steam deck, so I tried loading the pfx from it, still same issue. Waited 1hr in the load screen, nothing happened.

Special k
40Hz
without changes, game works awfully
Install Special K and activate "Sleepless render thread" and "sleepless window thread". Ingame options are set to 720p, 100% resolution scale and most effects disabled.

Game runs now with setting 3d scaling to 50% and texture and shadows on low. ive had no more crashes on steam deck.

Doesn't work. Stuck at loading screen/black screen.

Tried Proton 8, GE-8, GE-7-55, Proton Experimental (Bleeding-Edge). Tried WINEDLLOVERRIDE as well among these combos.
Mostly works out of the box but cutscenes missing may be a dealbreaker
Most cutscenes and embedded movies don't play
Barely playable on midrange hardware, even by cutting half of the game shaders and reducing resolution.

Resolution issues if FPS priority is on.
Game is barely playable, you will be lucky to get even 30fps
Aside from occasional crashes and sync lags, the game is perfectly playable in coop of 3ppl
Don't need the launch options anymore, but prerendered videos will show a colorbar pattern with default proton. Works fine with GE with no major issues even at maxed settings.
It seems 8-1 fixes the need for the launch options and allows the game to work; didn't try with non-GE, but i'd hazard a guess that probably works.
I did see mild slowdown, but i experienced this on GE-7-55 also. So it could just be the game, but its still very playable, as thankfully none of that slowness never happened on bosses.

Game sometimes run 30fps even with EVERYTHING set to low but mostly hung between 15-20fps
Poorly optimized and I don't know how everyone else got 30fps stable because even with everything on low in the handheld mode i could only get that at times. Will have to say it does not work with steam deck at this time :(
The game starts in window mode, when in the menus, set do fullscreen to resolve.
Needed to use protonGE7-54, if used protonGE7-55 the game crash the gnome session, and needed to restart the machine
Works great if used protonGE7-54, I don't even need the amd parameter on WINEDLLOVERRIDES.

Fullscreen is not initially full, need to switch to Windowed mode back to Fullscreen
GPU doesn't run maxed, so I only get 60-80fps during gameplay despite new hardware. Battle menu runs 24fps for some reason.
Game consistently crashes during phase 2 of the Tiamat fight, completely locks up GNOME requiring hard reboot
Character model in pause screen is very pixelated
Significant workarounds needed, the experience is subpar and there appears to be a game-breaking bug in one of the missions

With the textures setting on "high" the game is unplayable, had to reduce to "medium" to run properly
Besides the problem with textures, I didn't find any more problems
Running at 3440x1440 with high textures exceeded 8gb of VRAM causing the game to be absolutely unplayable, setting textures to low drops VRAM usage just enough

If you lose focus on fullscreen mode the game is not happy so do Borderless Windowed
That is why I added the gamescop command, even with my GPU the game always had slowdown due to the lighting engine i think?
Game's fun, as long as you have the WINE override command the game will launce (doesnt launch without it) and the gamescope command will use the FSR to make the game run smoother at least if you have a setup similar to mine.

game will not run out the box without script and cutscenes will not work without GE proton both are essential for this game to work correctly. Once it does, it will run pretty well @ 30fps

Haven't played beyond the tutorial because I intend to play it with friends.

Game doesn't launch without the WINE DLL Override. With the override, it runs as expected.
WINEDLLOVERRIDES=amd_ags_x64=b
The override requirement may be specific to AMD GPUs. Game ran well for first 4 hours of playtime.
Looks really mushy, but framerate is generally around 30. Playable on Steam Deck for sure, but definitely not optimal.

The provided launch parameter is an absolute must or the game will crash when launching every single time. Had to resort to Proton-GE for cutscenes to work. Outside of that the experience has been very smooth with no other issues to note.
Shows a black screen, presumably when it tries to play the intro video, and crashes back to SteamOS.
