After jumping through many hoops the game becomes largely playable. It'd be perfect for the Steam Deck if Ubisoft wasn't stupid.
Ubisoft Connect needs to re-enter password every launch.
Occasionally the game will launch with long input delay. Fix by turning vsync off and on.
The 20 minute income will sometimes stop working.
Multiplayer no longer supported by Ubisoft. Some missions are no longer available.
On current proton (9.0.5) gamepad will not be detected after the first launch. Downgrading to 8.0.5 fixes the problem but deletes save data.
On the first launch the game wants to be registered on Ubisoft servers. The in-game browser isn't supported by the Ubisoft website anymore, and it won't close - a full Steam Deck restart was needed. This never happened again despite the copy not being registered on the website.
On first launch, gamepad needs to be manually selected with mouse in the settings. On each subsequent launch, gamepad isn't recognized until a profile is selected. When using an external controller, it needs to be reordered.
Random crashes about once every 2 hours.
The game works fine. Be aware of the occassional crashes and setting up a controller. Beware the game not supporting steam cloud saves.
Need to type Ubisoft Connect password on each launch
Controllers don't work on Proton 9
Doesn't support steam cloud saves
Downgrade to Proton 8.05 before installation to get controller inputs working. If you launch the game on Proton 9, you need to reinstall.
Ubisoft Connect needs to reenter password each launch.
Ubisoft no longer supports multiplayer for this title.
Requires online connection to play. Ubisoft Connect now installs automatically.
The game will ask to install some c++ library every time you launch it.
Game runs very poorly despite being set in a single room.
Game runs at cinematic 20 fps. Doesn't really impact gameplay.
Occassionally loses connection to the server which then makes the fan ramp up. Quick restart fixes it.
No issues, perfectly playable at 60 fps.
dodge on r4
chews through battery very fast
Sometimes the game would stop responding when starting a match.
Matchmaking sometimes completely breaks and won't connect to any match. Restarting helps.
Game runs great. Performance isn't the best considering how old the game is but you can get 60 fps with few dips on lowest settings.
Upon each launch, manually switch to window mode, or else textures will be misaligned.
Occassionally during a hunt the game slows down and rubberbands back.
Disable dynamic shadows for higher FPS. I was able to get 50 on a 1440p external monitor at native resolution, and stable 60 with no dips at 720.
40fps/40hz
Most of the text in this game is really small.
Transfering a save file from the demo to the full game needs to be done manually in desktop mode.
Game works great out of the box. A handful of shopping areas have low fps but it doesn't affect the main gameplay. Text is really small on Deck's screen.
The game uses stylized fonts to convey personality which are difficult to read on a small display. There is an option to use simpler fonts though.
I encountered one bug during one dialogue where choosing one specific option would kick me out of the dialogue, and would prevent me from interacting with the world. Restarting helped, but the dialogue option remained bugged. Not sure if it was a linux or game issue. Otherwise flawless.
I play on an external monitor when plugged in at 120 fps. When handheld, I lock 40 hz / 40 fps and get about 3-3.5 hours of battery, although the game has weird ghosting at this refresh rate.
R4 to gyro; R5, L4, and L5 to 1, 2, and 3, respectively; left trackpad radial menu 4-9
Sometimes players wouldn't be able to pick up items dropped by other players, fixed by reconnecting.
Game doesn't support game pads, I made my own layout that worked for me. You get 60+ fps on lowest settings on new game but even a sligtly bigger raft will get you down to 40-50. Mid-to-late game rafts tank performance heavily.
When docked, sometimes my bluetooth controller would fight with mouse and keyboard and make the game unplayable until the controller was disconnected
Expect 20 fps but otherwise works
There's a mechanic in the game that gradually makes the image less clear. Steam Deck's small screen makes it completely illegible.
Dualsense controller wouldn't work, but if mapped to keyboard inputs it did.
