Tried pretty much every trick listed on ProtonDB, most I ever get is a black screen on launch.
Yes I didn't list all my launch options and such but I'm lazy

After the first launch, keyboard controls will be completely locked out on subsequent launches. The fix is to restart your computer.
gamemoderun %command%
Keyboard controls will be locked out if you skip any cutscenes that occur when loading a save.
ignore the report I made like 10 minutes ago lol

Keyboard controls will be locked out. The fix is to tab out and then tab back in.
RAM usage of 8 GB +
Sorry for making 4 reports, it was rather difficult to figure out what was going on with the keyboard lockout thing.
Perfect OOTB
Not a proton thing, but this game is a lot more graphically intensive than you might expect
Works fine
Quite a bit of screen tearing. I'm not sure if this is a Proton issue or due to some other factor.
The graphics are pretty bad anyway so the screen tearing doesn't really matter.
Good
Screen tearing. However, this is likely not Proton's fault as my computer likes to screen tear and there was no vsync option.
UE5 assertion error popup at launch

Takes a long time to start up
Disable anti-aliasing to disable motion blur (not a linux thing, just something weird with the game itself)
Works very well out of the box, with a few small caveats.
DX12 mode is not supported, you have to launch in DX11 mode
DX12 mode did not launch, had to use DX11 mode
Works very well out of the box. Slight performance hit compared to Windows
(as compared to Windows)
Major performance hit, forced to switch back to Windows for DRG :(
(as compared to windows)
Works great OOTB
One crash, but I think it was just a normal crash and not Proton-related
This game has a reputation for horrendous crashes on Windows but I didn't experience any in my (rather short) time.

PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 nvidia-offload %command%
When loading a save, the screen zooms so far in that the game is completely unusable, persisting even back to the main menu.
Sometimes crashes on launch, before reaching shader compilation. Fix is to restart the computer.
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 is to fix an unrelated bug involving NVIDIA Optimus and Vulkan
Works perfectly OOTB except Steam overlay doesn't open
Steam overlay did not open with shift + tab
Tried everything I could find, no dice :(

When using Proton Experimental, it claimed that my GPU was out of date (it's not). Otherwise, it crashed silently.
Resolution could not be increased beyond 1080p in settings (on a 1440p screen). Unsure if this is Proton's fault or the game's fault.

After quitting out of the game, you may need to manually stop it via Steam as the EA client is buggy.
Delete Pentiment/Pentiment_Data/Plugins/x86_64/SpeechSynthesisWrapper.dll
Game will crash on startup if you do not delete Pentiment/Pentiment_Data/Plugins/x86_64/SpeechSynthesisWrapper.dll
Removed DRM (see ErKäf's review)
I played with 3d accel off, went good. Didn't try with it on though.
Works perfectly fine, but you will need to restart your computer after a play session if on KDE.
Broke several elements of KDE like task switcher and compositing requiring a restart to fix. Using keyboard buttons to change volume, brightness, etc is blocked during gameplay.
Good except for occasional crashing
Experienced 2-3 in 4 hours. Due to the nature of the gameplay, crashes aren't a big deal.
Crashes when you tab out, works very well otherwise.
Crashes when you tab out.
Takes about 30 seconds to launch with no loading indicator.

On Proton performance was terrible and the game crashed on launch when using my laptop's discrete GPU. There's a secret "Steam Linux Runtime" in the force compatibility dropdown that works a lot better.
Bit of initial weirdness, works afterwards
Minor screen tearing
Game permanently freezes when not in fullscreen.
The game started by launching in windowed mode. I found that if I kept launching, waiting ~20 seconds, then exiting, eventually it would switch to fullscreen mode. After that happened, it worked great (as long as you don't disable fullscreen in settings).
Works perfectly except a slow launch
Startup takes about 30 seconds with no indication like a loading screen
Frequent crashes
Crashes every 10 minutes (not exaggerating)
gamemoderun %command%
Game crashes if it loses focus (alt + tab).
TF2 is a bit janky as always no matter the system. Use a couple tools and configs and it should work fine.

On an Optimus laptop, the game will crash upon joining a game if both GPUs are enabled. Use something like Ubuntu prime-select to only use one GPU.
You cannot connect to VAC servers using Proton, only on native.

I have 100 minutes on the game, ProtonDB is just being a little glitchy ig

I only tried out the demo, not the main game, so it is possible compatibility differs. However, the demo is updated alongside the main game so I doubt it.
