A Short Hike works right out of the box because it has native support. In a worse scenario, you can run the Windows version with Proton or Wine, but I haven't dealt with that issue.

The small cursor has red lines and is pixelated; if you want a larger one: go to hotkeys, and there would be an option to change the cursor size.
Minor and forgivable audio crackling.
The tinkering isn't necessary to boot but to make the game smoother.

Celeste works right out of the box because it has native support. I am able to play with my controller. The PICO-8/Classic version works. In a worse scenario, you can run the Windows version with Proton or Wine, but I haven't dealt with that issue.

Counter-Strike works right out of the box because it has native support, and any compatibility fixes for Half-Life would translate for Counter-Strike since it's fundamentally a mod/expansion pack. Counter-Strike: Source works right out of the box because it has native support. In a worse scenario, you can run the Windows version with Proton or Wine, but I haven't dealt with that issue.
Runs well on Wine/Proton. Some audio crackling and my controller is detected.
When escaping from fullscreen, you cannot enter the game again. Either don't do that or use the Borderless window.
Cult of the Lamb runs well on Wine/Proton without much issue. There is some audio crackling at resource-intense scenes. I can play with my controller without any problems. Even if I had to install drivers for my controller, that wouldn't necessarily be the game's fault.
Major crackling on Direct3D 10, and minor crackling on OpenGL.
Use the borderless window option if you want to alt-tab.
I couldn't find an online server, so I cannot verify if multiplayer works.
The tinkering isn't necessary to boot but to make the game smoother.
New Vegas works well with vanilla, but like playing on Windows: it is recommended to follow a mod guide such as Viva New Vegas.
I'm using the Viva New Vegas guide by Ungeziefi, but I will provide what I have done to make the game work.
Firstly, run the vanilla game first to make sure the game works. You may have to play in windowed mode for the first boot. Secondly, use Rockerbacon's MO2 Linux fork and run through the steps. Thirdly, make sure you have vcrun2022 on the prefix you are using for New Vegas (either global/default or specific.) You can do that by clicking on the install a Windows DLL or component. Follow through with the guide. When you get to the utilities section for BSA Decompressor and ESM Fixes, you run the executable via Wine.
WINEPREFIX=[...] wine [...]
For the launch commends in the MO2 profile, make sure to include this:
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
I believe that's everything important to note here. Viva las Vegas, baby!
Minor crackling happens regardless of vanilla or modded.
The ending of the utilities section and performance guide show how to fix alt-tabbing not working.
I would like to thank ModdingLink Discord server members Demitrix, Kontonid, Foamp, Trianta, Aristocat, and Griffin Wood for helping me. My appreciation is immeasurable.

Native support and works right out of the box. On Fedora, you will have to let SELinux have an exception for `hl2_linux`.
If you are encountering issues with audio on Fedora, try running this command.
sudo ausearch -c 'hl2_linux' --raw | audit2allow -M my-hl2linux
sudo semodule -i my-hl2linux.pp
I mentioned in tickering on the terminal commands, after that it works.

Game lag is possible.
For how much Valve has pushed for Linux support on Steam, it's strange that the first Left for Dead was well... left for dead for both Mac and Linux support. With some game lag and audio/visual bugs, the game still plays well at a passable pace. I wish that Valve would come back to this for proper native support. You may have to include the window command to get past the first loading screen for additional launch commands.
PROTON_USE_WINED3D10 = 1% command% -window -novid
Native support and works right out of the box.
I don't know if it was the game itself or the server, but sometimes the game lags.
Half-Life works right out of the box because it has native support. I am able to join a server. In a worse scenario, you can run the Windows version with Proton or Wine, but I haven't dealt with that issue.

In a worse scenario, you can run the Windows version with Proton or Wine, but I haven't dealt with that issue. I apologise for the previous submission for the same game as I forgot to replace the title.
Native support and works right out of the box.
It's not a problem, but the game does start in the windowed mode regardless of your launch commands. You can easily change the game's settings when you start up the game and get to the title screen.
It wasn't a problem for me, but a common error report is your controller isn't detected on the native version. See if you need to install drivers for your controller, use Steam Input, or run the Windows version.
Night in the Woods works right out of the box because it has native support. In a worse scenario, you can run the Windows version with Proton or Wine, but I haven't dealt with that issue.

Postal 2 and its expansion pack, Paradise Lost, works out of the box.
Postal 2 and its expansion pack, Paradise Lost, works out of the box. The only issue so far is when booting it up for the first time, you had to change graphic settings in-game and then change display settings on your operating system after exiting. I believe you can run with the window launch command and then change the graphic settings. Any future crashes likely aren't because you are playing on Linux-- it's because you are playing Postal 2.
Papa's Freezeria Deluxe works out of the box without any additional configuration from Wine/Proton.
I think the main reason why Freezeria works is that it's an Adobe Air game with Air officially supporting Mac, so getting a native build for Mac and Linux won't hurt.
Papa's Pizzeria Deluxe works out of the box without any additional configuration from Wine/Proton.

I couldn't find an online partner to verify, but I don't see a reason why it won't work.
Portal 2 works right out of the box because it has native support. I tried playing the single-player campaign, a workshop chamber and tried the chamber editor. I unfortunately cannot verify if online multiplayer works as I couldn't find an online partner to play; I don't see a reason why it won't work. In a worse scenario, you can run the Windows version with Proton or Wine, but I haven't dealt with that issue.
The mapping regardless of operating system isn't good for controllers. Go to '/home/[USER]/.local/share/Psychonauts/Profiles/Profile [NUMBER]' and change the last few values in Profile [NUMBER] - [NICKNAME].ini

Rain World works well with Wine/Proton with some audio crackling. I cannot verify the expansion pack as I don't have it. Controller support works. You can skip the launch command if you don't plan on using workshop support (same boat, but for other people planning on using it.)

Saints Row 3 works right out of the box because it has native support. In a worse scenario, you can run the Windows version with Proton or Wine, but I haven't dealt with that issue.

I heard that some people running the Windows version or the Linux version without tinkering works for them, so it may be for you. I haven't tried playing online multiplayer yet.
Stick of Truth works out of the box after switching to Proton Experimental and setting up launch commands.
PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1 gamemoderun %command%
Controller support works. I am unsure why the mouse's cursor is visible when playing on the controller, but I'm not concerned. At least for me, trying to run without any launch commands and the recommended Proton didn't launch the game.
Native support and works right out of the box.
Stardew Valley works right out of the box because it has native support. I hadn't tried playing multiplayer. SMAPI works like a charm, and I could install additional mods. In a worse scenario, you can run the Windows version with Proton or Wine, but I haven't dealt with that issue.

A game suffers from some audio stuttering without tinkering/patching.
The intro with the game developer and publisher doesn't load properly (black screen, studdering audio, or cuts in the middle of the Pixie animation) but can be skipped to the lobby.
I recommend applying the patches. In the worst-case scenario, you can run it with a dual-booted Windows installation or play it on a game console (I have the game on the Nintendo Switch).
If you use the Vulkan version, you may have to include the window launch command on boot and then change graphic settings as it froze my computer on boot the first time.
Vulkan not crashing might work without tinkering, and there is always the legacy OpenGL version and the Windows build to run via Wine/Proton.

Untitled Goose Game works flawlessly on Wine/Proton.
Controller support works. I didn't even know there was multiplayer, but I don't see why it won't work at least locally. It seems like a no-brainer for House House to get ahead and port to Linux.
Native support and works right out of the box.
Unturned works right out of the box because it has native support. I can start an offline server and join an online server. In a worse scenario, you can run the Windows version with Proton or Wine (you cannot join BattleEye-protected servers,) but I haven't dealt with that issue.
