I just had to change "MouseSensitivity" to a value lower than 1, as mouse movement is much sensitive in the Linux version.
Fullscreen Windowed just doesn't work, complete Fullscreen is fine enough, maybe Gamescope settings can fix the issue.
Use Native as it has way better performance, maybe put a 0.5 value inside "MouseSensitivity" in the "User.ini" file, and enjoy this amazing game!

Postal 2 and its expansion pack, Paradise Lost, works out of the box.
Postal 2 and its expansion pack, Paradise Lost, works out of the box. The only issue so far is when booting it up for the first time, you had to change graphic settings in-game and then change display settings on your operating system after exiting. I believe you can run with the window launch command and then change the graphic settings. Any future crashes likely aren't because you are playing on Linux-- it's because you are playing Postal 2.

runs fine
no issues

no problems detected. I regret nothing!

FPS drop every so often, especially in the loading part of the map.
Switching to GE-Proton runs the game smoothly.

gamemoderun
Minor artifacts under rare circumstances probably relating to mods
Best Linux port I've ever seen. First game I tried on Linux Mint, and it ran out-of-the-box perfectly, even without my graphics card's drivers installed, and it runs smooth as blood now that they are

Set UseJoystick and UseXboxJoystick to false in the .ini file, otherwise your cursor will be permanently stuck in the top left corner.
You will have to select the desired resolution twice to get it to work properly.
Mouse would be stuck in top left corner if not for the .ini fix.
Hitches here and there
A little finicky but no major tweaking required.

Always runs as a small window, you need to modify the game files to fix this
the mouse always starts from a corner of the screen
played for a few hours saving manually often, i relaunch the game another day and all of my saves are gone

Cursor kept going to the top left had to change postal2.ini (set UseJoystick=False UseXboxJoystick=False)
When using proton version kept chrashing on goin to police station

My monitor is going out of scale, and I couldn't find any source on how to solve this.
tried to change the game's resolution in the .ini config files

Be careful with loading saves frequently - it might crash the game somehow, and the explosion effect degrades your fps for a few seconds...
Sometimes crashing on loading a save, which is really frustrating.
Explosion effect locks the fps below 30 for a few seconds, and it doesn't change during that moment. I really don't understand why this happens.
why is it crashing from this and lowering fps from explosions

gamemoderun %command%
Proton Experimental starts game in Windowed mode every time - I found that loading a save and then changing to Fullscreen did NOT result in crashes.
Try Native first - Experimental is the way to go otherwise. move to GE 8-20 only if Experimental gives you problems and give both gamemode and disabling DX a shot.

Constant framedrops, in some areas practically unplayable, such as the church on Tuesday.
No idea how this got verified lol.

Don't run using native, Force Proton Experimental and use the OpenGL renderer to avoid stuttering and poor performance.
Switch renderer to OpenGL.

gamemoderun mangohud %command%
This might just be due to the game being what it is
Rarely freezes up while loading a new area, have to quit and restart the game

Läuft OOTB
Didn't have any problem with Native and Proton, it works great.
Whether or not you would enjoy it depends on how much the crashing bothers you. For me I just got used to saving frequently.
Game crashed a lot through my playthrough the the dlc paradise lost. At the very least 10 times.
The auto save only really saves when you go into a loading zone so manually save a lot!
Postal 2 works great on arch linux tbh well for me atleast
I would like to state i've tried postal 2 on windows, and ubuntu and now arch and i can say is that Arch would be the best for it has i had gpu issues with it on ubuntu like quite a few bugs :/
When putting the Deck into sleep mode and turning it back on, any newly-loaded textures will be corrupted beyond recognition (and seemingly look like Chinese characters, for some reason?)
Steam Cloud between Linux and Windows versions do not work, forcing the user to use the Windows build under Proton to work properly
Framerate chugs HARD in some parts
For a "verified" game, Postal 2 runs embarrassingly badly both on Linux and Windows builds. Linux is missing Steam Cloud and Windows features very noticeable visual and audio degredation, as well as texture corruption. While the game functionally works fine, such heavy performance issues really can't be ignored, and ruin the gameplay for me a lot of the time.
Also, I have no idea what they changed in the 20th anniversary update to get it Verified on Steam Deck. All the bugs and issues from before remain, if not are even worse, and I haven't noticed a single change to make the game more playable. It just performs super poorly, and I can't see any defense for it other than "game old" (even though I imagine many of these issues have nothing to do with the engine, especially Steam Cloud. That's just inexcusable.)
Works as well as on Windows
Use the non-native version and switch off DirectX, otherwise it stutters like hell and runs horribly.
Some stuttering happens on big explosions but thats normal in Postal 2
Works perfectly well out of the box, I think it uses the native version so that would make sense.
Native version is far superior in comparison to Windows.
Lowered the sensitivity
Porbabaly more of a Postal 2 issue but cloud saves wouldn't transfer.

gamemoderun STRANGLE_VSYNC=1 strangle 60 %command%
Native Linux game, runs perfectly OOTB.
This is a native Linux game, should run with zero issues on any distro.
Runs identically to windows on linux.
Runs identically to windows on linux.
-fullscreen -h 1920 -w 1080
The game opened in a 4:3 resolution and the menus were out of the screen.
Sometimes the game crashes when autosaving
Without any launch options there might be some resolution problems.
Runs Flawlessy OOTB
Runs identically to Windows.
just limit TDP
crash after sleep mode

The graphics ocasionally flicker and textures duplicate depending on camera angle
The game stutters a bit sometimes, it seems to diminish as time goes
It Works very well!
It works super well, after all it runs natively on Linux.
Runs perfectly well!
runs just fine
Works and plays flawlessly on Proton-GE, normal Proton not tested
Proton-6.19-GE-2
weird problem with windowing, fixed by going to windowed and then back to fullscreen
It's Postal 2, it's normal don't worry.
You can now load workshop mods like Nick's Coop properly, and works better than the native version
