Counter-Strike works right out of the box because it has native support, and any compatibility fixes for Half-Life would translate for Counter-Strike since it's fundamentally a mod/expansion pack. Runs flawlessly. But its missing some files on native version for a reason i dont know so i strongly recommend downloading the windows (proton) version first and copying the /steamapps/common/Half-Life/valve/cl_dlls/particleman.dll file somewhere else and putting it in the same directory after downloading the native version. Otherwise, then some servers may auto ban you for missing files.

Game's font is different than the windows version on native. But i think its not bad. Just the "_" character does not show up. Also, when low video quality setting enabled, the game's resolution gets messy and its unplayable. It's like glitches everywhere. But I'm on hyprland so it can be a wayland bug. If you want to get rid of the black bars when playing on 4:3, then use the command on launch options.
