So the whole "gameplay" of this game is to move objects to the correct position. The issue is that no matter how hard I tried, I was unable to move a single box or crate into the correct position. The game is also fundamentally broken with missing collision allowing you to easily go out of bounds.
Overall I was suprised to find that playing the game on Steam Deck isn't all that bad. I would say the only annoying level is the snow flake but other than that the game plays pretty well on Steam Deck, even with the touch screen as the input method.
Required forced compatibility. Also, Controller not entirely supported so trackpad mouse input is required.
Enabled forced compatibility with the default of GE-Proton7-38.
Wouldn't start without this.
The font chosen for the game made it a little difficult to read. The text size was fine.
For a short 15 minute game this is totally a fine experience.
Steam Deck has a very enjoyable experience despite the game requiring heavy usage of the mouse
Added a back grip button for left mouse on the left side of the controller so that I could click through text with my left hand as well. Further customization could be done for adding a number pad for spells or other needs for the game.
This was easily fixed by adjusting the GUI scale for the game which can be done easily in the settings menu. I set it to 200% as opposed to 100% as the default. This does cause issues when reading item descriptions as the text will overflow and there is no way to scroll the text.
Game currently just has general bugs that are noticable on PC as well.
As I've said. I've enjoyed being able to play this game on Steam Deck dispite there being no controller support and requiring mouse.
the game takes up almost no battery when playing and the fans don't even start up while playing. I have about 5 hours and 30 minutes of estimated play time while playing the game.
The only places that will be difficult to use the Steamdeck in is with Minigames and unlocking the achievements for those minigames. Mainly in the Archery target and bartending minigames. I had to switch over to my computer to get those achievements. I also used the touch screen for the bartending minigame and that was fairly good but a bit frustrating as well.
I think that generally the controls for the game are fairly good and don't require much customization. I would say that you only really need to customize controls if you want things to be a little easier to access.
Overall this is a great experience and there may be some slight annoyances while playing on Deck but nothing that can't be easily overcome.
Text was a little small but as someone else has mention, since the game is fully voiced that isn't as much of a concern.
Overall a good way to play the game, especially if you have an OLED Deck with all of the dark colors that this game offers.
The game has a tendency not to open in the correct resolution. Before entering the game it's recommended to change the resolution to the Steam Decks resolution of 1280x800. But even after adjusting the resolution the game may still load with the incorrect resolution.
This is a great way to play this game and there really aren't any annoying issues other than having to manage the screen resolution. With the low latency of having a controller physically on the Steam Deck, this is a great way to play this ryhthm game.
Since it's a visual novel I adjusted some of the mouse settings to be better suited to my play style. Also controls can be customized further to add more visual novel hot keys
Designed around mouse controls like many visual novels but still functional to play on Steam Deck.
The game allows for true pixel scale options so that may be of interest to some players.
A great way to play. With added cloud support it's even better!
Changed the Beta to the ue5_beta.
Game runs fairly hot at times. I've adjusted graphics settings to try and improve battery life, but I mostly play while plugged in.
Some stuttering at times. The game is still in early access so these issues may be improved given time.
The games quest system would bug at times requiring me to restart from cetain points. The game is still in early access.
The game runs fairly well on Steam Deck but there are some fundamental bugs that cause issues with the game. Overall I would say that it's playable in the current state.
The game feels really annoying and difficult to control with the Deck. The mouse controls have you clicking and dragging to move around the level and the Deck doesn't have a good and intuitive solution for this. I recommend playing this on your computer with a mouse and keyboard.
Since this is a visual novel game I did do some tinkering on the controls but nothing major mostly all to do with mouse.
Visual novels can sometimes be frustrating on Steam Deck, but overall I didn't have any real issues with playing this game. It was a great experience and I'm glad I could play it on Steam Deck.
Text is generally a little small but still readable.
I wanted to be able to play this game on Deck but I just found it frustrating since the game is designed around mouse and keyboard. I would recommend playing this game on a PC if you have the chance. Especially since a lot of the text is smaller.
Forced compatibility. Was automatically set to GE-Proton7-38
The font used for the game was difficult to read but the text size was fine.
The game worked fine and I didn't have any issues after forcing compatibility. Also I found that it worked well with controller.
Tried to change multiple settings to improve battery.
Text is small.
Had to try and change multiple graphics settings
So I found the text to be small in this game and this is significt because there is a significant amount of reading required for this game. I also found that the controller options for this game are not great and currently this game isn't designed with controllers in mind. I would recommend playing this on PC instead.
When choosing the widescreen option the icons/collectables get cut off so it's recommended to play in a 4:3 ratio.
The game plays great on deck and I had no issues. I have also seen that there is support for the nintedo switch online N64 controller for this game and there are community layouts that help to integrate this game to use the N64 controller.
Some of the text was smaller and harder to read which is important since this is a visual novel.
The game looks fantastic on Deck, it's just annoying that the text size is rather small.
A little over 2 hours of battery performance. Often had the Deck plugged in while playing.
Only text that was small was on the main menu and was unimportant for the game as a whole.
The game plays great. The only thing I would personally change is the jump key from B to A as that has been pretty annoying. Other than that it's ok while plugged in.
Changed some of the ABXY buttons to button prompts in the game. There is also a good community layout by Nichseth called "Dark Of Chore - Simple Controls" which looks to be good as well.
This game does not have native controller support but luckily there is a community layout that seems to be pretty good. The game plays well on Deck with no issues other than not having supported controls right out the gate.
I added functionality to zoom in when reading data logs as I found the text to be too small.
I usually have to leave my Deck plugged in while playing this game as the battery life is short when playing at the recommended settings.
Even after increasing the text size I still found it to be too small. It usually isn't an issue when playing since there is often voice acting but it can be frustrating when reading text logs or data entries about the lore of the game.
I think that Deck is a great way to play this game. I often had my Deck connected to the dock and played the game on my TV with a controller. I did find text to be difficult to read which is frustrating as there is no setting to increase the size further.
I found my experience with the game to be great. Battery life was decent at 3 hours and I overall didn't have any issues while playing on Deck.
Adjusted some graphics and had my Deck plugged in.
I recommend Full screening the game so that the image isn't stretched to fit to the screen. This can be done hovering over the top left and clicking the appropriate option.
No issues here. Overall a decent way to play the game.
Text was a little smaller than I would have liked.
The game will freeze once the song stops playing in the gamemaking it totally stop.
The game will crash once a song will stop playing. Turning off the sound may fix this. Also turning off the sound will make the game not close properly (as far as I can tell)
When the song for the level ends the game will crash. This is most notable in longer levels and in the endless ride mode. Turning off music may fix this but I haven't played long enough in a level to confirm this.
When turning off music the game does not want to close.
The game is generally playable in the state that it is in but there are some glaring bugs that make it difficult to recommend. Mianly the game crashing once music ends and turning off music makes it difficult to close the game correctly.
I would potentially stay away from the game if you fear that you might mess up your deck while playing this.
The game generally runs well but with the crashes that will occur whenever the music ends, it may be annoying or frustrating to play on Deck
Some text was smaller than I would have liked.
When a song would end the game would crash. Muting the music would cause issues when closing the game making it so the game wouldn't close properly.
A crash would consistently occur when music ended.
The game generally will play well on Steam Deck but it will consistently crash when the music for the level ends with all progress for that run lost. This isssue may temporarily be fixed by turning off the music in the settings, but then I found that I had difficulty when closing the game that it would not close properly.
I would say that it's playable but be warned of the crashes that can occur.
The game needs fast and precise mouse control to obtain some of the achievements. Also you are able to use the touchscreen and that works well. I don't think it would be a fun experience on Deck without at least a mouse.
You will also likely have to invoke the on screen keyboard to enter text.
A great way to play and was overall just an enjoyable experience. No real issues with the game at all.
The game was great to play on Deck and there were no issues to report. I also used an external Xbox controller as well to play through some of the game and had no issue whatsoever.
There was no option to change to the Steam Decks resolution. Did not really affect gameplay at all.
This is really just an ok way to play this idler/clicker game. The main problem would be getting the achievement for the 1,000,000 clicks as the reasonable way to get that would be to use an auto clicker. And overall it works fine without much issue.
I found some frustration with aiming of the Frogun but I think that's mainly an issue with the game design itself and not to do with the Deck.
Overall works great!
Gave up due to not knowing what to do.
I gave up trying to play this game due to having no support for controller and with all the prompt being for keyboard I quickly became confused on what to do.
Added a button for space bar to advance the text without having to use the mouse.
Text was slightly small but it was still generally readable.
The game was unfortunately buggy at the initial release and was not due to the steam deck.
The visual novel requires mouse and I guess the space bar key to run properly. The game also takes up a lot of power despite it just being a visual novel.
Playing it on Deck isn't terrible.
I played this game while on Vacation and had a great time with it. I didn't have any issues with battery or performance with this game and found it to be enjoyable.
Switched the version to legacy1.9.2.7 to enable adult content for the game.
As I already said the game is fine without tinkering. I only changed things so that I was able to access the adult content.
was unable to progress past a certain point
was unable to continue after a certain point in the game
In the game it has the wrong catching controls so I adjusted the right bumper to be the fishing command.
The game has no resolution options specifically for the Deck and it starts automatically at 1920x1080
When submitting an item to the collector and looking at the museum I was unable to leave and had to force quit the game.
This game is missing a lot of features and is frustrating beyond the issues that are present on Deck.
Considering this game also came out on the Switch, I knew that this game wouldn't really have any issues and it doesn't seem to here.
The icons for what you needed to create your slime into was a little bit hard to read and was small. There was also generally small text.
The main issue with this game is that it is designed with mouse in mind and could lead to some accidental clicks along with some strain while clicking and dragging potions.
Added a Space Bar input to one of the back left buttons.
Overall worked great. The Deck didn't really run out of battery all that quickly and I was able to go through the full game in around 2 hours with 50% of the battery drained. Also since this VN is mostly a railroad, there isn't much need for mouse input to select choices.
Maybe the only annoying part was entering my Name since the on screen keyboard did cover up the text on screen.
Left the Deck plugged in while playing and changed graphic settings to highest and 30 fps due to an issue with shadows. Can probably play the game without the Deck plugged in.
I put the game on the highest setting as there was a problem with the shows being a lower texture from up close that bothered me.
Some missing textures but I think it was just inherently absent from the game in the first place.
No issues other than the graphical stuff mentioned and having the Deck plugged in for the most part. Great way to play
No tinkering required. I was able to play through the whole game with no issue.
Played the game using a combination of mouse control and wasd on the dpad. it was servicable but I probably wouldn't be able to play through the game on Steam Deck like that again.
Battery life drained fast and I would often need to be charging and playing. I believe I adjusted the fps.
Text and readability of the game was small at times.
There are times with significant slow downs.
I had a good time with the game but I also felt like there was some significant performance issues with the deck running hot and having decreased battery life overall. I still think this is a good way to play this game.
Added the space button to the back left button. I could also see players adding a shift toggle so that they can enable or disable running when they want to.
Experienced a bug when rescuing the goblin girl from the slime monsters where the characters would stay on the screen and wouldn't disappear. I had to exit and enter my save and change my choice to fix this.
Overall I didn't really experience any issues with the game other than some bugs that I assume were inherent to the game to begin with. I think battery life was generally good with the game at least lasting a good 3 hours.
The controller support is a little finicky but it still works great and I had little to no issues with it. The text is easy to read.
I really encountered no issues at all. The battery life for the game was great. I think the only minor issue was that when joining the game it doesn't show controller glyphs but that really isn't that much of an issue.
The game plays great but expect there to be inputs based on mouse and keyboard. Also expect there to possibly be some adjustment of inputs. Other than that I feel that the game plays fairly well on Deck.
I made some changes to the battery by lowering the FPS to 30fps but decided to revert it back and decided to just have the Steam Deck plugged in all the time instead as I didn't like the drop in frames that I imposed.
Overall I am really enjoying playing this game on my Deck. My main problems with the game are that the battery life of the deck is horrible at only around 1.5 hours max so that means I constantly have my Deck plugged in. Also the graphics aren't as good as I would have liked in this game, but it is servicable and the game itself is still fun.
No tinkering required and it feels like everything just works. for controlling the mouse Touchscreen is great, R stick is great and so is the right touch pad. the controls are just very well thought out. I sometimes do wish that I had a mouse but overall i've enjoyed my experience.
This game is truely meant to be played with a mouse and keyboard. I was able to open up the game and play it a little bit but it just didn't feel comfortable. I also feel that the experience of this game benefits more from playing with mouse and keyboard.
Sometimes the game would occasionally default to keyboard controls and it would make it so that I would need to exit out of the game. This only happened sometimes and didn't affect me too much.
As I already mentioned. Sometimes the game will default to keyboard and mouse controls and I remember having to exit out of the game and then it was fine. Battery life is also great.
Plays great but expect some slowdowns and to have very little battery life if you play it without changing settings
Kept the Deck plugged in. Others have suggested to lower graphics settings.
Noticable slowdowns in certain sections of the game.
The game plays well but it's also unoptimized with some slowdowns affecting gameplay but not to any extreme extent. Also the battery life for this game is really bad and I had to have the Deck plugged in to play or else I would never be able to finish a level.
Some of the visuals were a little difficult to see due to the lower resolution of deck along with it just being smaller in general. Overall it doesn't completely take away from the experience but I do think it is a little lessened
The game is completely playable on Deck and I'm sure that people would generally be ok playing it on Deck. But I think some of the visuals and puzzles are constrained by the decks screen and having to use the track pad for the puzzles.
There also really isn't any way to get around using the decks trackpad other than using the touch screen.
My complaint with the game is that the art and scenes are small for the game and just of Deck as well.
The text is fairly readable which is important for a game like this. The game works amazingly with controller and was even designed for it in mind. I highly recommend playing this with Deck.
When going back to the menu the video in the background seemed to continue to play.
When going back to the menu the video in the background seemed to continue to play.
The game runs fine and with no issue. I think the only problem is that there doesn't seem to be a button to exit the game so you have to force quit. This is likely bc the game originally is meant to be played on desktop where you would use the "close window" button to exit the game.
Changed some graphics settings
The game plays great on Deck but there is a concern of lower battery life.
Overall can play but expect the game to eventually crash after going through a lot of text. Recommended to save often
Added more options to function with the visual novel
crashes eventually occuring after going through a significant amount of text
The game does run hot so I did attempt to turn down the graphics at points.
Overall I had a good time playing this way. I do feel that the game isn't as optimized for Deck but it still looks and plays great.
I played through the entire game on my Deck and had no issues with the game at all. I found the experience to be very good.
The game may take up a little bit more battery than I would like but overall I found this to be a really great way to play the game and just enjoy it.
Due to the nature of this game requiring mouse it is recommended to use the track pad.
Since this is such a short game there really isn't any chance for bugs to be encountered and the game just works well.
Audio sometimes broke when viewing through portals.
Had some problems when playing the game on the dock with a 1080p TV.
My main issues occured when playing the game docked so I'm not sure if these issues will occur for other players. I had connected my Deck to a 1080p TV and I experienced some issues when there were a lot of things that needed to be loaded into the game or when looking through a portal. This didn't really take away from the experience but it was noticable.
The game seems to have controller support but the controller was not detected. I did not try and connect an external controller to see if that would work. I had to load up a community layout that was based on mouse and keyboard which was a lot different from the controls for the non-redux version of Ethan Carter. Also with the control scheme I had significant lag when controlling the mouse with the right joystick that I had to use the trackpad instead.
I just recommend playing the non-redux version of this game. The graphics look much better and overall the game just has controller support. I'm not sure what caused all of these issues.
Added mouse functionality
Battle system does not work with controller and requires mouse input despite the prologue making use of controller to control the battle.
Even though the game says it is fully released, it really isn't. There are still tons of bugs and other things that the devs need to fix. The main one being that in the prologue for the game the battle system works flawlessly with controller. But once you enter the full game for a battle system, it bugs out completely.
So most of the game does work but there are still some major bugs and short comings with this game.
I used 2 Nintendo Switch NES controllers and although I had difficulty setting up the controllers on the Steam Deck, I did not experience any issues when actually playing the game with the controllers.
This is a really great collection of games to play on the Steam Deck. I have had no issues in playing this game and have even been able to play the game with local multiplayer and with the NES switch controllers. I found it just to be a seamless experience.
The game plays great on Deck. I wish that the graphics were better but I think that has to do with how old the remaster is and not with the Deck. Still a great way to play this platformer.
Other than the screen being a flash bang all the time, the game is great to play on Deck. I was surprised since I assumed that it wouldn't be as nice as PC but I enjoyed it better on Deck.
Text was small with no way to change the size.
No issues after forcing compatibility. Game doesn't run hot at all and the controller layout works with the game.
The game is really made to be played with Mouse and Keyboard but it is playable on Deck.
I fully completed the game on Deck and had no issues. The battery life was great and with the length of the game being around 3 hours, you'll be able to fully complete the game with a full battery.
I encountered no issues while playing the game.
I had no issues with the game and it worked well. The battery life was great and I didn't encounter any errors.
The game won't run properly without first forcing compatibility to 1.0 (scout) and then changing the control scheme to the community layout called "witch 3 steam deck". After that there is a setting to change in the game to show inputs correctly in game.
It works with the Layout I made but it may not be peoples preferred method of playing the game.
I created this layout so that there is minimum mouse trackpad required. The face buttons have been reprogrammed to the keyboard buttons that are used in game.
The back buttons have been reprogrammed specifically for NPC interactions.
Most of the small text is from item descriptions and some other text that isn't the most important to the story. After the first hour or so in game, this does not become a problem.
Overall I had a find time playing this game but I'll say that due to the game being designed for mouse and keyboard, it wasn't the best experience especially since I find using the trackpad for mouse control to be uncomfortable for long periods of time.
I found that when running the game, the deck did great on power consumption and I never even heard the fans start to run.
Overall this game is playable but you'll have to memorize the control scheme to get the most enjoyment out of this game.
I decided to start playing this game again after getting the DLC. The game seems to work great and I've had no issues with it.
