Played the Epic version through Heroic, had zero issues.
Could not make the game fullscreen natively, works fine with Proton
Fails to start because it can't connect to uplay.
PROTON_LOG=1
After accumulating a game time of over an hour for a game I had yet to see a single frame from, I finally decided to refund it. Could not get it to work no matter how many hacks and fixes I tried to implement.
If the logs show Required Vulkan extension VK_KHR_surface not supported
, make sure you have the 32 bit drivers installed, like these for Arch: vulkan-radeon lib32-vulkan-radeon vulkan-icd-loader lib32-vulkan-icd-loader
.
Game runs great out of the box. Logitech G29 detected without any problems, and the force feedback is excellent.
Works fine most of the time
For every session I play, I will get maybe 10-15 seconds of low FPS (~20) for no apparent reason. After that it goes back to 165 and won't do it again until I quit the game and start it again. Overall it's a fine experience, but that little hiccup can be annoying.
This is a fairly minor bug, but it could be a deal-breaker for some. Some road textures don't appear correctly, and instead show up as way darker than normal.
Asside from the road texture bug, this game runs perfectly without any stability issues or major game-breaking bugs.
Not worth buying at the moment
Crashes a ton. I haven't been able to complete a game yet.
Depends on how well your tolerance is for low framerates. But the game is *playable* but not really enjoyable.
Runs terribly. Setting everything to the lowest possible setting, I was only able to get ~30FPS
Game itself runs fine, however issue with video playback will prevent you from completing at least one of the jobs.
Issue with in game videos not playing and only displaying SMPTE colors. This is probably due to a missing codec or something.
My last report described an issue that would occur when playing with vanilla proton. That being that videos will not play because of missing codecs. Using GE Proton fixes that issue.
Runs great, with some very rare visual bugs that require you to restart the game.
Very rarely, when alt-tabbing out of the game and then back in, it will appear on the wrong monitor at a crazy low resolution where menu items look like green blocks. This doesn't happen frequently enough for it to be a real issue and restarting always fixes it, but I figure I should include it here.
Logitech G29 wheel experienced several issues, including:
- Steering axis only detecting right turns
- Accelerator pedal only working to half way down, any further and it no longer recognizes input from it.
- Brake pedal not being recognized at all.
I'm sure there are many more but I couldn't be bothered to find them after running into these issues.
My wheel used to work a few months back, but I guess the game received an update that broke things. Switching to an older version of Proton doesn't fix it.
After about 10 seconds the game freezes irrecoverably
gamemoderun %command%
Crashes after about 30-60s of driving. Can remain in menus and purchase cars, customize character, etc. indefinitely.
Unplayable with my configuration, I've tried every tweak I can think of and still no luck
PROTON_HIDE_NVIDIA_GPU=0 PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 VKD3D_CONFIG=dxr gamemoderun %command%
Still crashes every time you begin driving. Navigating menus works fine.
I never could get this working with my old GTX 1080. Just got a 6900XT and it runs without issue.
Used to work perfectly, some recent update must've ruined it. Can't play anymore because of the frequent crashes.
Crashes randomly, could happen when initially loading, could be as you are driving, sometimes I can make it through several races before it does it.
Used to work before recent update, now displays initial splash screen then crashes.
Load times can be fairly long the first go. I haven't played this on Windows, so this could just be the game being in pre-alpha.
Very occasional crashes. After about 12 hours in the game, I think I've had maybe 2 or 3.
Works great with no tweaks required!
Since this game is early access at the time of writing this, game stability and performance could easily change. For the time beaing, though, it runs flawlessly.
Runs great without instability, however some minor flickering may turn some people off of it.
Minor flickering
Works great dispite some minor settings bugs.
Game always starts in 2560x1440 and 60 frame cap despite changing it to 2560x1440 165. Works fine after setting it but it you have to do it everytime you start the game.
gamemoderun %command% -nominidumps -dx12
Occasionally crashes while in-game.
Sometimes the UI will freeze and nothing else. The background animation will continue to play and so will the audio. I can also move my cursor around and the party indicator updates when someone joins while the UI is frozen. Only solution is to restart.
Occasionally have problems with EAC when joining a game. It will produce the error:
Kicked from the server: Anti-Cheat: Client integrity violation This is usually resolved by restarting the game as well.
Works fine out of the box. Expect this to change though as new features are added.
Very infrequently, I would experience a crash when leaving certain planets. This hasn't happened since I switched to GE-Proton7-33.
Good performance and rarely any problems make this game an enjoyable enough experience
For anyone experiencing stuttering in 1.0, disabling auto-save fixes it.
After the recent 1.0 update, I started experiencing very heavy stuttering. This can be resolved by disabling auto-save
Took about 10 minutes to load game from main menu. Afterwards, experienced 10-20 FPS. Lowering settings dropped my framerate down to 2-4 FPS.
Used to work fine, now crashes on startup
Not sure what they did, was working fine now it won't start. I've tried a bunch of different versions of Proton and the best I was able to get was it freezing on the main menu.
Works fine without tinkering with my hardware
Performance is lacking. I get somewhere around 40-60 fps at 1440p on high settings.
Works great!
Game runs great out of the box. Only experienced slow downs with larger, more complex vehicles, something you would experience on Windows as well.
Excellent experience!
This game runs perfectly out of the box, I could have been easily convinced that this was a native Linux port.
Starting the game turns off both of my screens and resets my display settings so that I have to use xrandr to get it back to where it was.
I don't know what happened between the last time I played and now but it is completely broken. at least with the native version.
Game runs well out of the box
This game can be fairly resource intensive. I was able to cause several crashes but I didn't include that in this report because I placed the game under a lot of strain that would never occur while playing through the story or to anyone sensible.
Runs as good as it would on Windows
As you probably know, this port isn't particularly performant, but running on Linux didn't result in any additional performance degredations.
Fantastic experience with zero tinkering required
Multiplayer works without any problems.
Native build runs fine. I haven't tried it, but running the Windows version with proton could be better.
The game is really slow to launch compared to other similar games on my disk. Also general performance in game could be improved. I can't play this game maxed out with decent FPS like I can with more intensive titles.
Crashes after a few minutes of playtime
Will crash after maybe 20 minutes consistantly.
At first I had this installed on my HDD and figured it was just a read speed issue because it would usually do it when loading a new area. I moved it over to my NVMe SSD and it still crashes frequently.
Running at 1440p on ultra settings, get around 70 fps when there is a lot of action on screen.
Crashed several times, never during gameplay but at menus. Switching to GE resolved this mostly.
It runs reliably enough if using GE-Proton.
