Runs great out of the box. Solid optimization, even on the highest settings.
Reverts to 2560x1080 every boot, but can be switched to the proper resolution.
Game does not remember display settings.

In video sequences.

Borked on almost every Proton Version tried.
DXVK_ASYNC=1 DXVK_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 PROTON_HIDE_NVIDIA_GPU=0 %command%
Not Playable

With Proton 9.0-4, there were interruptions in video playback, while the audio continued normally.
Proton Hotfix works flawlessly.

I could not get past the menu
I tried everything people have listed here - GE Proton, Proton 7.0-6, and a couple launch arguments. Nothing worked. In all instances I got to the difficulty select screen, and then it would crash.

Used to play, but not since nvidia-driver-560
I was able to install and play this with some fiddling with forcing proton versions using nvidia drivers before 560. However, now that 560 came out, it has so many big changes (it is now a true OSS driver from nvidia for one), the main menu will no longer load, and I can't play at all, no matter which proton I use.
I don't even get any error messages. It just sits at the first splash screen and nothing happens. I've tried going down to a single monitor or mirroring, but nothing helps. It is such a good game otherwise! Very frustrating.
The first VOHLE jump cutscene gets stuck on a loading screen, rendering the storyline unplayable past the initial Sol system.

for my install i had to run it on Wayland otherwise it would not load the main menu properly
intro and final cutscenes freeze or stutter

Game played great, until chapter 3 in which you get less than 10 FPS. Even 5 FPS. Unplayable.
In chapter 3 game becomes absolutely unplayable. On Deck you get less than 10 FPS.

Cutscenes do not work properly, preventing the player from enjoying the story.
Cutscene videos play choppy: Video stops every few seconds while audio continues, causing audio/video desync. Switching from Proton 9.0-1 to 8.0-5, Experimental or GE 9-5 did not fix that.
the game does not save display size settings

Game starts but when you actually start the game you can only see the UI and no actual graphics.
Doesn't work; don't buy
flawless

Cutscenes would not fully play without Proton-GE
Proton-GE only needed for cutscenes, otherwise fully playable. Great game.

Sometimes when you reload a save after you lose, the game freeze
Work globally well with low setting with a 1070 (30-35fps), but sometimes the FPS drop to 10-15 fps

Works great out of the box
One mission completely bugged out but that's not related to proton
also an amazing game 👍
didn't run for me until I installed mesa drivers 22.x and GE 7-43
Works great dispite some minor settings bugs.
Game always starts in 2560x1440 and 60 frame cap despite changing it to 2560x1440 165. Works fine after setting it but it you have to do it everytime you start the game.
Runs pretty well out of the box.
Can be set to normal fullscreen by resetting the fullscreen option.
You can enjoy this game, but don't get your hopes high. Stability issues become more frequent as the game progress rendering it unfinishable
Slideshow on max settings (only on linux)
In the begging can run 24/7 wih no crash, but late game crashes every other minute.
Did not see much of diffrence with other proton and ge versions
Resume from suspension is broken and causes a game crash

Crashes on resume if Deck is suspended more than a few minutes
gamemoderun DXVK_ASYNC=1 DXVK_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 PROTON_HIDE_NVIDIA_GPU=0 %command%
Shift tab / steam overlay doesn't seem to work
Even though the game says it has cloud saving, when I change Proton versions the saves do NOT carry over - so be sure to copy your save just in case
Steam overlay doesn't seem to work but otherwise I want to clarify good news as opposed to the reviews from 9 months ago that the performance issues seem to be gone - at least for me. Max settings across the board on 4k.
Just be sure to back up your saves when you change Proton versions from steamapps/compatdata//pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/LocalLow/BulwarkStudios/Ixion/Saves
It's not a Proton issue but there's a bug that will cause your buildings to be stuck in a repair state for eternity - which also means you can't dismantle them. From this same location you can open the buildings.sav file and remove the building that's stuck. (Confirmed this happens on Windows too)
Works pretty good. Could use some tweaks here and there for ocasional crash.
Seems some issues playing some of the movies without the GE build
GE build is more stable. Can play for hours without crash, but GE seems a little more stable.
no game mode, no tweaks seems best. Performance is a little better with GE 7-43 with fewer micro studders.
I have had zero problems, started a fresh game to make sure video cutscenes play correctly which the do, also saving and loading is working.
I was using the driver: nvidia v: 525.60.11, not the one listed to the right.
Game works perfectly besides a few small hiccups. As long as the correct eggroll Proton version is used.
Only slight annoyances were found bug wise:
- It wouldn't quite remember/figure out my monitor resolution. Had to set it manually everytime the game was started.
- Lowish endgame fps started to become noticeable. Not enough to become anywhere close to unplayable
- Videos not playing and other performance related bugs only occur when using the current recommended steam Proton Experimental version. All that cleared up upon using the eggroll proton version GE-Proton7-42. Easiest way to acquire that version is to download the proton-qt client from https://davidotek.github.io/protonup-qt/. Further instructions are on the site. (Plenty of walkthroughs can be found elsewhere as well)

Video's do not play, show garbage. So player does not know what instructions or background story is told
video at start of game shows some kind of test screen
Video's show blokky color screen
any version of proton
Stuttering Intro Movie, but rest of the cutscenes work flawless
3D elements fails to render
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
Won't even start without falling back to wine3d3. None of the 3d elements render, just a black background. The videos play and the game is running, UI overlay renders and clickable. Unplayable without seeing any of the visuals.
After tabbing out the window was just black
The game itself is really nice. But please be patient and prepare for sudden fps drops. I'm waiting for new patches now.
Trying to mess around with settings. From high graphics to medium or low
Chapter I & II gives me stable 30 fps. But Chapter III ruined the game. Having just 8-10 fps.
Trying to lower my graphic settings --- no effect. Trying Proton GE 7.42 and Proton Experimental --- no effect. I'm stuck.
playable
Missing videos in tutorial and some cutscenes did not work.
Videos don't play unless you use Proton-GE
