Works great
The only issue I found was a crash when pressing left arrow when naming a save game. It was reproducible. Everything else works flawlessly.
Lots of lag while shaders are cached. Can be avoided by using the community cache file from GitHub
Hung after 6 mins exactly the same as Civ: IV does. Played well before that.
Needed to make some of the changes in this github comment: [https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/308?_pjax=%23js-repo-pjax-container#issuecomment-439692009.]============================================= 1) Had an issue with the camera stopping rotation caused by multi-monitor setup. I had to run winecfg and set up to run Fallout 4 in a virtual desktop and capture the mouse. This works perfectly on the left most monitor. To play on my right monitor I currently need to disable the left monitor as a workaround.================================== 2) Needed to add the pulse_latency startup option to fix audio getting stuck in a loop e.g. constant minigun firing.=============================================== 3) Added the no_esync startup option to fix loading screens, but this isn't 100% fixed which is the only thing preventing a gold rating.================================== 4) I had already added bBackgroundMouse=1 to Fallout4Custom.ini, haven't tested without.
Otherwise good performance, no stutter, no graphical bugs, no physics issues. I haven't tested mods yet.
Starts but hangs before playable. Cutscenes play. Some artifacts on cars and a logo during menu. Tried disabling Esync and D3D11 as well as using Wine D3D11, none make a difference.
No issues at all. Still had my save game from Windows
Flawless
It was streamed to a Windows laptop via Remote Play with no issues at all.
Good performance. Runs perfectly. Both keyboard and Xbox360 controller work.
- Stable, good performance with GE-Proton9-18.
- Launcher won't appear with GE-Proton9-20.
- Rounds playable with proton experimental though it's missing loading screen/menu backgrounds. One lock-up as well.
Doesn't open
Clicked through some messages noting outdated drivers and OS. Black screen opens, flashes some loading screen with the UI of the game and closes.
Crashes to desktop after the track safety warning. Language select is fine, sound is fine, no video on dev/publisher title cards. Esync/Wine D3D11 and disable D3D11 tweaks don't fix it.
Playing without Proton-GE had an issue where the framerate was 0 unless the mouse was moving.... Like Superhot. No issues with GE
Doesn't start. Gets stuck on Steam's first time setup (step 4: Installing Activation Manager)
Crashes after 10mins, happened twice. Playable up until that point.
Experimental might not be required. I just have it set for all titles.
Runs fine with no tweaks. A hang when quitting to desktop was the only issue in 40mins of playtime.
Doesn't start if you click Play after the error message on the launcher. Click it before and it's fine. Many glitches when going through doors. Horrendous physics glitches e.g. items flying around, you falling through bridges. This I believe is an FPS related problem as it happens on Windows. I got 144FPS, but I didn't make any changes to allow it. Game still hangs on exit. I needed to reboot my PC. I think 3.7-8 is more stable than 3.16-3. Playable but annoying.
Infrequent crash to desktop after long sessions
Doesn't load to menu. Music plays fine, cursor moves. Lots of d3dx9 errors in proton log. Tried disabling Esync and D3D11. Tried Wine D3D11.
Missing menu icons. Artifacts throughout menus. Crashes when loading a round. Disabling Esync, D3D11 and using Wine D3D11 doesn't make a difference.
