Displays an error message related to KERNEL32.DLL at launch, but doesn't prevent the game from starting. Videos (both cutscenes and in-game camera feeds) don't work properly : display is black, though audio is fine. Might be correctable by tweaks. Resolution and detail level are at lowest by default.

Videos (mission de/briefings and cutscenes) have a black display (except for on-screen text), though audio is fine.

Game starts and plays fine but becomes unresponsive during the first mission and prevents progressing further into the game.
In the first mission, the police helicopter's movement is choppy at first (later fluid), but other units move and react fine.
One of the first in-game cutscene generates error windows, then the game either crashes, or control become almost totally unresponsive, preventing finishing the mission.
Videos (either missions briefing/debriefing and in-game cutscenes) don't work : audio and on-screen text are fine, but the rest is black. Same as Act of War : Direct Action.
Videos don't work, as is already the case in Act of War : Direct Action.
If you're lucky, you'll see the launcher.
You might be able to see the launcher, but the game won't start.
Works out of the box if installed in the default Steam directory
Game won't start if installed in a custom directory

LT and RT aren't recognised with an Xbox One Controller
Game froze twice in 30 minutes
Played only the demo

Even with Proton 8 and the launch options, the game would sometimes get stuck on the "Tracking" loading screen. That is, if it manages to go through Ubisoft Connect first…
- Make sur your PC/graphic card drivers/kernel/Steam are up-to-date. Reboot if needed.
- Use ProtonGE 8
- Use the aforementionned launch options
- Start the game and pray that it doesn't ask for a CD key, and goes through Ubisoft Connect
Game crashes systematically just after the introductory text crawl.
Runs flawlessly out-of-the-box. Default button mapping is a bit unusual though.
I believe that Start and Menu button are swapped on XBox One controller, but both are remappable so it's a non-issue.
Works out of the box
Xbox One Controller D-pad is mapped correctly by default, but cannot be rebound properly afterwards. Don't touch it ! (Buttons can be rebound without any problem)
Works fine (even with mods) when started with https://git.sr.ht/~_dev_fra/hwrc-proton-launcher/tree/master/hwrc-proton-launcher
I had to make sure that Proton 5.0 and Homeworld were in the same SteamLibrary directory, then adapt the following script (${steam_client_path} and ${steam_library} variables) : https://git.sr.ht/~_dev_fra/hwrc-proton-launcher/tree/master/hwrc-proton-launcher
Initial resolution did not match my screen and part of the UI was invisible. I had to change it to another value then back to the correct resolution in the main game menu options (not once a game has started).
Do yourself a favour and install the "Homeworld Remastered 2.3 Players Patch" (https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1190476337) that brings LOTS of corrections and improvement to the remastered game(s) !
Works flawlessly out-of-the-box !
There is an active pause by pressing "P". Also, F10 displays the game menu (ESC doesn't).
Works fine with Proton 4.11-13, doesn't work with Proton 5.0-7
Framerate is a bit jittery, but maybe the game itself is like this.
With Proton 5.0-7, the game starts and the music is heard, but the screen remains black. I had to manually select a previous version of Proton from the game's properties to make it work.
Some graphic glitches and occasional crashes or freezes, but largely playable. Be sure to save regularly ! :-)
Runs fine in windowed mode. Fullscreen doesn't work. Rare crashes. Save often !
Fullscreen is completely dark. Changing (blindly !) the resolution restores the display.
The game randomly crashed once in about 30 minutes.
Game starts, goes fullscreen and music starts playing, but screen remains black and no input has any effect.
Try several versions of Proton if there's no audio. Also, save often in case of random freeze/crash.
Some Proton versions have no audio at all.
Some random freezes/crashes. Save Often !
If the game freezes/crashes and cannot be restarted, kill all lingering Steam/Proton processes before trying again.
The demo works flawlessly out of the box !
No save games in the demo
This report is for the demo, not the full game
I encountered graphical glitches once, but reloading the game corrected them.
If windowed, the mouse cursor needs to be in the game's window in order for the controller to work.

You probably won't be able to enjoy the game if you need to rebind your keys. Otherwise, you may be good.
Cannot rebind several keys (namely "backward" and "left"), making the game unplayable for me.
Runs great out-of-the-box but cannot switch to any other software while playing.
Alt-tabbing doesn't work. I haven't found a way to switch to anything else while playing the game.
Game becomes unresponsive/black screen after alt-tabbing to the desktop and back
Game becomes unresponsive/black screen after alt-tabbing to the desktop and back
The game is playable but the occasionnal framerate drops can ruin the experience.
Audio in the opening video is borked. In-game and in other videos, it's fine though.
Framerate sometimes drops noticeably, though since it's not an action game, it has little gameplay impact but still spoils the mood.
Movement keys cannot be rebound. If you're not using WASD, you're out of luck.
Works out-of-the-box but occasionnally freezes. Don't try Hard difficulty and save often !
The game freezes occasionnally, up to 1-3 times per hour (especially on big maps with many people). This can be highly problematic for Hard difficulty where in-mission saving is disabled.
To rebind keys, you first need to select the "Custom" key set. Also, not all keys can be rebound (ex : R to reload, V to switch weapons). This can be problematic for non-qwerty keyboard layouts.
Keep the game in window mode and you'll be fine.
The gamepad key config tool doesn't work.
Runs perfectly out of the box.
Please bear in mind that as of today (2020-05-02), it's still an early access demo worth less than an hour of content.
The game stops responding after alt-tabbing once then back
The game stops responding after alt-tabbing once then back
Alt-tabbing will hang the game on resume, forcing you to kill it. Combined with the absence of save during the 20-30 minutes battles, this can lead to great losses of time.
DXVK_FILTER_DEVICE_NAME="NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070" gamemoderun %command%
Could not progress through the Auto-9 customization tutorial due to a non-bound key. Had to force-quit the game. Key bindings got reset afterwards.
Initial loading time was suspiciously long
The game would barely start without the launch options and was unplayably slow
Use "vulkaninfo --summary | grep deviceName" to get the device name to use in the launch options
Loading times are long event on SSD
Sometimes freezes during stage loading, and/or when quitting.
Works flawlessly out of the box.
There are deliberate graphic glitches in the game. This is intended.
The game did freeze once or twice, but I guess it was my computer acting up, not the game.
Runs fine out of the box but performance is sometimes sub-par, especially during online play.
Levels load a bit slowly, and lag was rather frequent during online play, hampering the gaming experience a bit.
[Demo] 100% unplayable: the intro takes minutes to load and stutters at 0,5 image per second or less. I cannot even see the main menu.
Installed mf-install with "WINEPREFIX="~/SteamLibrary/Linux/steamapps/compatdata/954740/pfx" ~/Downloads/mf-install-master/mf-install.sh"
You might have to play with the resolution options the first time you start the game, but afterwards, it runs flawlessly.
Fullscreen was initially not fully fully (I could not see the left border of the screen). I had to play with the resolution, window mode and restart the game before everything went right.
I somehow managed to start playing the game, but later the main menu wouldn't even show, only the studio's logo.
The game would rarely slow down during some combats, but would sometimes also return to normal speed after a few seconds
