Played to completion, works perfectly (unless you use a controller, but that's easily fixed)
When playing with a controller or the Steam Deck's controls, camera movement would be heavily bugged, making the game unplayable. This is easily fixed by replacing the game's SDL2.dll file with another - in my case, I used Quake - which removes this issue. Playing the game docked with a USB mouse and keyboard works perfectly out of the box.
As explained, MAKE SURE YOU REPLACE THE SDL2.dll FILE IF YOU WANT TO USE A CONTROLLER! Other than that, works perfectly fine out of the box. Mods also work perfectly.
Runs perfectly out the box
The three-screen display option makes the map/status screen too small on the Deck's screen, so use the two-screen display option.
Doesn't work no matter how much tinkering I do
I've tried installing different Proton versions, GE etc and no matter what the same issue happens - it only boots the launcher, then crashes on startup.
When I first played this on Steam Deck, I'd get the color bar screen during loading screens - however, they're gone now and it works perfectly.
Played to completion, works perfectly out of the box.
Game works perfectly out of the box, all control schemes (gamepad, touchscreen, trackpad) work fine. The remaster is unfortunately buggy, but that is a problem with the game itself, not an issue with Proton.
Runs perfectly at 60fps, minus a few framedrops with the final boss.
Played to completion, works pretty much perfect out of the box. Not a Deck issue, but make sure you don't use Bluetooth/wireless headphones as they can cause minor audio lag.
Playing docked with two controllers local co-op works almost perfectly.
Nintendo Switch controllers keep disconnecting.
Once you get past Origin (I suggest loading it once in desktop mode for first-time set up for log in, then it will launch without a log-in prompt ever again), it's a very smooth experience. Playing it docked splitscreen with two controllers works just as you'd expect.
One weird thing is that Nintendo Switch controllers would keep disconnecting, even at full charge - this is a problem I didn't find on other games, so I suggest using Xbox, PlayStation etc controllers.
Set resolution to 720p unless you want to have a seizure
There is a launcher where you set resolution and controls. Just ignore them and press play. If you set resolution to 800p, the letterboxing will flicker VERY fast. Even without the flicker, it's letterboxed, so just leave the resolution at the default 720p.
Other than that, no issues - everything works just fine.
Played to completion, works perfectly.
Used gamepad, but you can use touchscreen as well.
Runs perfectly.
Rendering Scale: 100% Shadow Quality: Middle Reflections: Off
This will give you 60-90fps.
Noticeable slowdown.
Runs fine out of the box, however there is slowdown when there's lots of action on screen - whether this is a result of the game engine or the Steam Deck, I am unsure, as most of the time it's perfectly smooth.
Played to completion, no errors.
Works perfectly at 60fps when undocked, but when docked to a TV I got significantly lower FPS regardless of settings.
Runs perfectly out of the box.
There is a launcher to set resolution, but other than that it's seamless. When docked, I found out I could push the game to native 1400p at full speed.
Works perfectly out of the box. Steam version has pros and cons when compared to the Flatpak version, but I prefer using this version of RetroArch.
Works perfectly out the box
Runs constant 60fps but can even get 90fps on Steam Deck OLED if you lower graphics.
Native didn't boot at all for me. Switch to Proton Experimental and it should work with no problems.
World Tour has noticeable performance problems, unable to hit a 60fps in fight mode (the open world is a solid 30fps)
Crashed once when first starting it up, but no problems since.
Online works perfectly fine, especially when docked with an Ethernet cable.
I was on the fence on getting this on PS5 or Steam Deck, but decided to go with Steam Deck with the premise that I could play handheld for casual matches and single player and could dock it up for serious competitive online play. So far works very well, although single player has hitches as explained before. Maybe some tweaking / performance patch could make this run 60fps in World Tour.
Runs perfectly on Experimental. Playing on default Proton leads to unrendered characters and stages, but everything is perfect on Experimental. Looks beautiful on the smaller Steam Deck screen.
Works, as long as you use keyboard + mouse, or make a profile that emulates keyboard + mouse controls
Could not get Steam's controller input to work whatsoever.
I couldn't get the controller inputs of the Steam Deck to work whatsoever. I tried different profiles but it just felt awkward to use. The game should support controller inputs, but it seems like they just don't recognise here.
If you play docked with a keyboard + mouse though, it works perfectly. So get your keyboard and mouse out for this one.
No gamepad support, so use a keyboard + mouse layout.
Works fine other than the fact that there's no gamepad support. I'd download a community control scheme or switch to Keyboard + Mouse to replicate a mouse.
Works perfectly
I prefer using a keyboard + mouse due to the nature of the game, but the Deck's controls work fine as well.
This is a point and click game, so there are no gamepad controls, only touchscreen. Otherwise it works as well minus fullscreen issues.
The big problem with this game was fullscreen, sometimes I would turn it on but it would crop a part of the game window, requiring a reset. Fullscreen is very fidgety.
The game has a "Daemon" tool that requires running a seperate application that will give you hints as you play, this can't be done with the Steam Deck and I wasn't able to get it running in desktop mode (although I'm sure there is a way with some tinkering). It is not required to play the game, however.
Runs well
With CryoUtilities, runs at 60fps 720p or 30fps 1080p. Otherwise, runs at around 40fps at 720p, so put on a framerate limiter for 40hz. Performance aside, it runs perfect with no bugs or problems.
Played to completion, works perfectly.
Launcher window the first time which can be simply navigated using touchscreen, then will boot straight to the game for the rest. No issues.
