Works great on Steam Deck!
MSX emulator: bluemsx runs fine after some tinkering, all file hunter roms work. played games appear in the history in retroarch.
The 'Retroarch - bluemsx DLC' does not work. Copied the core and info files from the retroarch full download to the correct folder. copied the bios and machine data from the bluemsx full download to the right folder.
Works Flawlessly
Easy to setup if using default settings, can make a lot of fine tune adjustments for a better experience.
Properly mount game disk so retroarch can recognize them
Sometimes game freezes when opening steam overlay
if you plan on using a controller and steam overlay, use steam input, retroarch by default maps home button to the menu.
Mount your partitions to smth like /mnt/device_name
Perfect
Can be used by controller.
Works perfect on Steam Deck
Everything works great, the only issue is with how unintuitive all the menus are. I'm usually pretty decent at changing settings but man, I had to look up how to do so many things; it just isn't organized well. Works perfect though once you figure it out
works flawlessly native
there seems to be a rare bug that occurs if you uninstall the program, and then want to install it back, making the whole Steam OS Gaming Mode unresponsive, buttons not working ocrrectly, unable to install anything anymore, launch anything, go into sleep mode, shut down, you can pretty much no longer use your steam deck unless you hard reset. afterwards everything is back to normal unless you try again from gaming mode to install RetroArch, then the whole bug starts all-over again. the only fix I found was installing the software from desktop mode.
I've played a bunch of titles I love on it, cloud saves work great and it's been overall a great out of box experience.
Works with no issues
I only played with Nintendo DS and GBA emulators until now, they run perfectly though
Work without problems
Using the deck docked would at times cause controller weirdness. It would freeze when trying to pull up the quick menu. I just went into settings and changed my Bluetooth controller to the primary controller instead of the deck itself. After that change it worked great.
I placed my ROMs in the documents folder from desktop mode. If you want to load all from the SD card there will be some permissions that will need to be changed.
Works perfectly out of the box. Steam version has pros and cons when compared to the Flatpak version, but I prefer using this version of RetroArch.
Works great out of the box.
It just works, thats it.
Depends on "typical gamer"; any emulator user who stores ROMs on external drives will have issues.
Unable to access external drive where my emulation ROMs are. This is a problem with all Proton games; directories external drives are commonly automounted on are not listed when browsing Z: (which Wine mounts as / ). Nothing in Steam, Proton, or this game is installed on an external drive; it's installed on my normal drive, but any game which allows browsing to a local file hides directories commonly used for automounting. Audiosurf is another game where this is an issue.
