It runs. And other than some players I had no performance Issues while on the track. But the loading time kills the fun for me.
Switch to fullscreen was problematic, it changed the resolution and I could not see some buttons. But finally I get it working by switching to a low resolution, than to fullscreen and than back to full resolution - that worked for me.
Extreme long loading times, but "on the track" it runs fine for me.
Playing some of the Licence-Tests it was 50% driving and 50% loading for me. Given the fact many players have other performance issues of some kind I would say: At the moment a typical gamer wont enjoy playing this under Linux.
--skip-launcher
Skipped the Larian-Launcher via Steam-Launch-Option. Worked with launcher too, but its just annoying.
Everything works out of the box for me.
I had no problems playing online on EAC enabled server.
Works fine without tinkering for me
Works OOTB for me. I played coop with a friend that runs Windows and has the game on a different launcher (not steam), works fine too (you have to activate Crossplay in the Ingameoptions for that).
Just played the tutorial when writing this, so cant say how the performance will be with a megacity, but since now it workes flawless ootb.
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command% NOSPLASHPRELOAD
Works OOTB
I had no problems playing the game on a dedicated server in coop. Runs out of the box.
Worked fine out of the box until some patch. Now it didnt start anymore, goes back 2 desktop before main menu.
Waited a couple of weeks for a fix that did not come, so a have to down-rate it to "not working". Maybe a Nvidia-Card related, or at least System related thing, since it seem to work for some?!
Works great out of the box
I'm playing single player with xbox pad, works great without tinkering. Just install and have fun.
Works fine
No music, just soundeffects
Music is not playing, just the normal gamesounds. Otherwise the game works fine. I play with keyboard, like I did back in the day, so I have not tried to activate the mouse for controlling the jet. Its a fun retro-trip.
Did not launch
PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 gamemoderun %command%
Tried some tinkering and launch-options, different directx Versions, took over the options/settings from users that had success with playing the game ... but for me it just did not work. Game does not launch and closes "back to steam" short after hitting play.
Works without tinkering for me
I've just installed it and hit play. Runs without any issues for me.
Everyone played the game via steam -> party invites via steam, not tried to team up with MS-Store players.
I had no install option under Linux for early access. Switching to Proton, installing and than switching back (the game loads the missing files than) worked for me. I assume that this is no problem anymore after the game is released.
@Tinkering: Only regards installation of native-version while still in early access. If you have a install button after purchase with the native version, no further tinkering needed. Game itself runs OOTB.
Works good with (at the moment) slight performance problems. But nothing to bad, its is playable.
At the beginning I often have stuttering. Driving like the first sector and than restart the race solves it in most cases for me. Not as it should be (especially not with the HW used), but there are performance patches announced for PC, so that will hopefully be fixed soon.
Have only played offline mode with gamepad (xbox elite).
Works good. I had some seldom "loading-freezes" but no major issues.
I had it hung up at the end of a race in the loading screen a couple of times. Just freezed showing the percentage of loading. Had to kill it than. I did not lose any progress about it and experienced this very seldom.
