Runs well on Proton 9.0-4, no lag at all
Fun game
UnknownAs I was using defaults I couldn't even enter the main menu. Stuck in the loading screen (aborted after 20 minutes). With Proton 9 works fine out of the box and loading times are just a few seconds.

Some issues with video cut scenes, can get a better experience with proton-ge
No launcher was displayed when the game started - may be due to latest game patch, so the suggestion to modify the launcher config file may no longer be required. Game played flawlessly, interstitial videos between campaign missions played back without issue. May need to remap the current default layout from Keyboard (WASD) and Mouse to a custom layout to take better advantage of quickly grouping units and more easily scrolling around the map. Overall, very satisfied with quality and stability of gameplay on the deck.

Everything was working perfectly until I got to mission 12 and then suddenly the cutscenes wouldn't play. Updating to GE-Proton7-24 fixed the problem.
Zero Problems
This is a simple update to my last entry. After having fully played through the game - 26 hours in - I have yet to come across any issues while playing on Proton 7.0-3
Edited Launcher.exe.config to change to true
The game installs and launches fine. The cutscenes do not play on Proton 7.0-3 without modifying the config file mentioned by #sbock below, but after changing 'false' to 'true', everything seems to run perfectly.
With the GE Proton Version and the launch option, the game works perfect. With the standard Proton, the Videos does not work.

Works Perfectly Fine
Launched perfectly fine after installation. Running Proton 7.0-3 with zero issues.
Edit the file "Launcher.exe.config" in the installed folder and change this line: add key="CloseAfterStart" value="false"/> to true. Runs well after changing the config file which disables the launcher. Performance is OK. Some cutscenes are missing.
