Runs flawlessly/just as well as on Windows

Set to 40FPS
Runs very well on the Steam Deck and is easy to play with controller input. I locked the framerate to 40 and get an estimated five hours of battery life.

Great game and runs beautifully in Linux. Very will optimized.
Played natively and everything worked perfect.

Unlike Civ6, the performance between the Native linux version and the Windows version is very close. Personally, I observed better frametime consistency with the linux build. However, the graphics settings often did not "stick", seemingly adhering to a default level regardless of what I chose. Most notable of these is that it didn't matter what kind of AA or upscaling I chose, the game always rendered native with no AA at all. This made some fine details like hair on the leaders look especially bad. Additionally, as most linux distros do not yet have a native color management system or HDR support, nothing you do in the command line or OS options will enable the game to run in HDR mode.
The windows version via proton seems to honor the graphics settings you choose. I selected vulkan. If you can run other games in HDR using gamescope, Civ7 can also be ran in HDR using gamescope.
The UI suggests that if you turn on vsync, a framecap setting will be exposed. Personally, I never saw this happen on either the linux build or windows build. If you want to cap your framerate, I recommend an external tool like mangohud.

Works fine under proton. Cursor issues on my side might be a skill issue that i could not resolve.

On native version I was unable to see my mouse in game. Switching to windows version and using proton fixed.
Native versions might work better for others.
works natively as expected

Works great out of the box.
After a 6 hour session I encountered minor audio hissing that required me to relaunch the game to resolve. Not a frequent issue, has only happened once.
Only bugs encountered seem to be game bugs, such as city states disappearing from the map. No bugs related to linux as far as I can tell.
I have not tested multiplayer, but so far everything is working perfect out of the box, no tinkering. No proton.
Worked straight out of the box. Should require little to no tinkering.

Game/Assets don't render properly, even in the main menu. Everything is just black
I've tried the Native version first and a bunch of proton versions afterwards (Experimental, Hotfix, Stable, GE), DX12 and Vulkan, it's always the same, just doesn't work

Native linux build was running fine, but I ran into a bug in a multiplayer game where I was crashing at the end of the turn. We were able to load back into the game no issues, but the AI was surrending my war when I crashed. The game kept crashing in the same spot after loading back the autosave, so I had to switch to the Windows build with Proton Experimental. Whatever was causing the native linux build to crash did not affect the Windows version. Windows version w/ Proton has been running perfectly.
Works out of the box
Game worked perfectly fine with no additional tinkering. Played on high quality, and got ~100 FPS on average.

Lowered graphics settings - the gpu goes to 100% in most cases!
The performance isnt the best on the default graphics settings, and you will see stutters when panning and zooming in/out.
Everything working just fine natively with no settings change

The game works really well and is well optimised - unfortunately there are also desyncs, but I guess that's just part of the game

Full system crashes, causing the PC to reboot

I had no install option under Linux for early access. Switching to Proton, installing and than switching back (the game loads the missing files than) worked for me. I assume that this is no problem anymore after the game is released.
@Tinkering: Only regards installation of native-version while still in early access. If you have a install button after purchase with the native version, no further tinkering needed. Game itself runs OOTB.

Native works OOTB
No need to tinker, just run the game and enjoy
Native Linux port worked perfectly with default settings.

When using the default compatibility option in Steam which uses Vulkan there was a lag during gameplay, even with the mouse.
Switched to Proton Experimental and ran in DX12 mode and the game ran flawlessly.

The EULA and Privacy Policy screens don't support controller controls.
Native controller support, similar to Civ6 on Switch. Reduce graphics below the "Low" preset.

may crash when exiting to main menu from game
Worked perfectly out of the box.
