Works great out of the box
I've tuned the settings for the game in a config file in the Proton prefix. I've got the game running at a stable 30 FPS with occasional dips that I believe I can attribute to the UE4 engine itself. I've published my config file and instructions for changing yours on Github.
At first launch, the game asks to install a pre-requisite. Simply run through the installer like you would on any other computer.
I had to click install on a visual studio popup
It ran on steamdeck. It was a little slow for some of the cut scenes (15 fps) but was playable out of the box.
Runs very smoothly
Game runs like a dream for me. No tinkering required!
Works great ootb
Just install, hit play, have fun

Das Spiel musste mehrfach gestartet werden, bis die .net Installation angezeigt wurde. Danach lief es dann problemlos.
No issues - worked out of the box
I have now played for an hour and could not find any errors.
At the beginning, the game had the wrong resolution. However, this could be corrected directly in the game settings.
Runs same as on Windows. Even bugs in the game work the same way.
I had to enable Force Steam Play. I'm using Proton 9.0-1 without any modifications or parameters.
While badly optimized, the story and audio is where it counts - which is mostly unaffected
Limit refresh rate to 60hz.
Consistent frame drops down to < 8fps during background-loading, typical peak frame rate is around 42fps - average around 24fps. Viewing more complex scenes contributes to significant input lag.
CPU usage is under 80%, while the GPU is pegged at 100%.
This report is from the demo version (which may be missing some optimizations). The developers have noted that a new patch is on the way to help with performace optimizations. Some users report needing a RTX 3080 to run this game at it's locked 60fps (this is a PC port).
The developers have also noted that they expect Stream to give this game a "playable" rating (no rating at the time of this report).
All this being said, I do plan on purchasing this game - likely after a few patches to optimize and patch bugs.
The game just runs. It wants to install some Libraries to run UE4, but that goes through without a hitch.
On rare occasions there is some crackling.
First launch it assumes you are using a controller. Once you clicked a mousebutton or gave a keyboard input it switches what is shown for the QTEs.
Some Framedrops, but given the nature of the game it is still very playable.
Was able to run the game and explore the ship on the bonus mode with no issues.
Periodic FPS dips, but it hasn't been too bad yet.
This game just came out today so I may update this report later. But I wanted to report that at least the game does load and is playable on deck.
Looks to have the same general issues as all other versions of the game (slight stuttering, uneven frame rate) but otherwise runs great.

This is a diamond in the rough. It's unoptimized with some scenes running at 30 fps capped while the rest of the game is capped at 62 (!) fps. Native controller support is restricted to Xbox controllers (but SteamInput also works fine). All that said, it runs just as well on my Linux machine as it did on my PS5. From that perspective, no compatibility issues.
If you love "old" Star Trek, you will love this game.
