Perfect on deck
40Hz
Maxed out settings with 40 FPS cap
Absolute fantastic
45fps
Max settings, works like a charm and up to 4 hours of battery only by limiting fps
Runs perfect. Looks amazing.
40fps
Settings everything on the highest possible except MSAA 4x
Runs great out of the box on Steam Deck
Has a Steam deck graphics preset and runs on other stable locked 30fps by default
Just Works after small controller layout adjustment
Reduce right trackpad and right stick sensitivity to 100
Go to "/home/deck/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/409720/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Roaming/BioshockHD/Bioshock2", open file "Bioshock2SP.ini", search for "TextureStreamingMemoryLimit" value and change it to 4096.
limit to 45fps on OLED
I had one crash so I applied this crash fix found on the Steam forum for windows
Runs Ok and chill game
30FPS
It runs at 30FPS with all Setting on Medium, resolution scale 100, view distance 0.5, motion blur 0 and absence off
Runs Great I loved it
It's been a while seems I played but I can't remember huge problems. Sometimes it dips but not significantly. Mid/high settings and 40 FPS cap
30fps stable at medium settings
When navigating the graphic settings while playing the menu can get stuck and permantly overlaps the game. you have to force closing and restart the game to fix it.
I really enjoyed it on the deck
There are some framedrops here and here and maybe 5 times in the game it freezes for 1-2 seconds
If you use high settings, v-sync off, AA to 4x and lock the framerate to 30fps via quick menu you get an almost stable and nice experience despite the bad optimization of the game
40Hz
Set Anti Deadzone a little below th half slider
Installed ReShade and preset for improved graphics like SMAA or Ambient Occlusion. Also used film grain and sharpening.
Had a great time on deck but you have to be strong when the FPS drops happen
40Hz
Hard FPS Drops outside on the moon
Works great just edit controller layout
Remapped 2 buttons
It's rough but playable
Quick time event buttons. Text in the computers
Dips here and there and unplayable without frame generation
Frame rate varies between 30 and 60fps, just don't turn the fps meter on.
Low settings, FSR3 Balanced + Frame generation enabled. Otherwise unplayable in terms of performance and visual quality.
Ingame FPS lock don’t work with FG enabled and if you enable it via QAM menu then you get massive input lag
Works really well
Ultra settings with solid 60fps in 2 player splitscreen in Docked mode
Awesome with FusionFix
Using right trackpad as directional swipe dpad
40fps
Stable 30fps medium settings
Set the frame limit in game to unlimited and set 30fps limit in performance menu
Hopefully gets fixed soon
Graphic settings don't apply sometimes
After the latest update and a new Steam deck preset the game is working fine and will surely improve more over time
Stable at 30fps medium settings
When navigating the graphic settings while playing the menu can get stuck and permantly overlaps the game. you have to force closing and restart the game to fix it.
Perfect on Deck
I preferred classic over definitive edition cause of better performance when testing 2 years ago
30fps locked
In the camera settings
Heavy stutters, slow texture loading
It's an awesome game, but it's so unoptimized. You need to use the DX11 version or it will crash a lot and Proton GE for better performance. I ended up saving a lot manually and then closing the game and restarting it. You can play for about one or two hours then you have to restart cause performance goes to hell.
Vsync off, medium settings, FSR balanced.
Awesome on Steam Deck
40 Hz, low/medium settings, Ingame: dynamic resolution for 30 fps, no upscaler
Fsr was to flickery on hair and far away buildings so I just played the complete game without and it was really awesome.
Runs perfect at very high preset
40fps locked
Does not work in gamemode, only in desktop mode.
40Hz
At the end of chapter 1 the cutscene is broken. All cutscenes before did work. Tried default proton and experimental. Using Proton GE 9-16 fixed that.
Really fun on the deck with max settings
Back buttons for changing weapons
In some rare areas the framerate dips
30fps cap. All settings to low, anti-aliasing medium. No FSR.
Some FPS drops, cut scenes performance is worse than normal gameplay
Cutscenes performance suffers from higher settings. Game easily runs above 30fps but ingame fps limit makes it more stable.
No more launch options needed, I think cause of default proton 8 (I have 8.0.4 by default)
It runs great on Steam deck
You can easily play with 30fps on high or 40fps on medium settings through the whole game. Cutscenes and 2 chapters are bit more gpu intense. No stutters like in the previous game "Chapter One".
Runs super duper on Steam Deck
Think it crashed 1-2 times
Looks and runs beautiful
Locked 30 fps. Ultra settings, fullscreen on and v-sync off.
I tried with 45fps and lower settings but it has some dips. As it's a chill game 30fps is best with max graphics
It's great for docked mode with mouse & keyboard
You have to type a few things so it's better to use real keyboard
Did not install until set to Experimental. Controller does not work had to set to WASD+Mouse
Playtest works fine on deck is fun
When the screen gets really crowded it dips to 30fps. Hopefully in the final game this will be optimized. Right now you can't select graphic details so this should be fine later
Bad performance on Steam Deck but I enjoyed the game
Set to 40Hz. High Settings. Frame rate sometimes dips. Medium could be more stable.
Did not install as native Linux so I forced proton and everything worked
Runs perfect
High settings with locked 45fps on OLED, 10w and around 5 hours of battery life
Good experience on the steam Deck
45fps
Short: 30fps high settings. Maybe play with TDP cause it's battery hungry
I started with ultra settings and 45 FPS locked and it was completely stable for a while, but it struggles to hold it through the whole game. I think with 30fps and medium/high settings it's gets a stable run from start to finish. High setting also look way better than medium especially in the end.
45FPS/90Hz
Default/High settings, resolution scale 100%, frame rate unlimited, Disable motion blur, disable vsync, anti aliasing to SMAA T2x
Can't understand the negative reports
works really nice most of the time
Increased ingame controller sensitivity settings to max
Needs to Increase ingame controller sensitivity settings to max
I played at 45fps locked. In certain situations it's drops a few FPS. Rarely down to 30. Settings highest possible cause it makes no significant difference in performance. You would have a complete stable experience if you lock to 30fps.
Good game on the Steam Deck at 30fps and recommended settings
1-2 glitches but nothing game breaking
You have to disable reflection otherwise the game has huge graphic glitches. Also water shaders are broken so they are really bright and won't ever be fixed. But I liked the game anyways. my settings for a stable run and good visuals:
- shadow resolution: high
- shadow distance: 100
- shadow cascades: 2
- detail distance: slider below half maybe 30-40%
- testure sampling full
- windowed off
- reflections off
- ambient occlusion on
- anti aliasing on
- flashlight volume light on
- vsync off
Works out of the box. 30fps with default/epic settings
Lowering settings will improve fps and battery further
