Game runs platinium with Proton 3.7-8, but has missing textures with Proton 4.2
Use Glorious Eggroll Proton fork and disable ESYNC in launch options, game will run as good as if it was native.
Disable ESYNC will stop the occasional crashes.
Glorious Eggroll 6.1-GE-2 will allow videos and menus to display correctly.
Game plays choppy.
Audio get's muffled when flying spaceships.
Game performance is quite choppy in my system with the latest Proton (4.11), everything seems to run Ok but then I get freezes, like there's something loading. They get worse as the game progresses. Used to work fine with Proton 3.7
Audio in space crackles
As another users report, the game starts to stutter and becomes unplayable after a while. It freezes over several seconds in multiplayer. This issue started with Proton 4.X and continues in Proton 5.0-7
Stuttering and crackling went away with Glorious Eggroll custom Proton version. Online and offline gameplay was perfect.
Proton-5.11-GE-1-MF GloriousEggroll
Glorious Eggroll custom Proton fork, from https://github.com/GloriousEggroll/proton-ge-custom/
Game ran Ok out of the box. Controls were jerky, Idk if it's the same in Windows. No ultrawide support.
runarma2.sh
Game won't recognize the serial code, but ysblokje script makes it run perfectly. You have to run the script every time you play (just leave it in the launch options and don't delete the runarma2.sh file)
Single player game runs, but save games are broken, so you can only successfully play if you finish each mission on one sitting.
Can't load save games, missing textures error.
Runs flawlessly, recognized my Logitech F310 controller with out any problem.
Works ootb, multiplayer works Ok, I've had some slowness, but as far as the server messages go they were due to another player's connection.
PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 %command%
Lag in "Conquest Mode"
Crashes on launching conquest mode in Proton 7, Conquest works with GE, but laggs
Conquest works with Glorious Eggroll's fork, but laggs badly
Newer versions of Proton failed to launch, had to use 5.0-10 or 4.11-13 to get it running.
Disabling Esync made it crash less
Mouse acceleration too sensitive, part. when on foot.
Borked, games installs but goes to a black screen when I try to run it.
Game will exit since videos won't launch. On the menu screen chose Settings/save games and edit the "options" file there: PlayVideos=FALSE
Videos (wmv codec) won't run
Works ootb, no tweaks needed. Multiplayer is either hot seat or PBEM, and both should work fine (didn't test). Played 2 full missions.
protontricks 1076160 -q dotnet48 d3dcompiler_47
Map smaller than screen size in fullscreen, GUI not clikable (the button image and hotspot didn't coincide). Works perfectly in windowed mode.
Followed Dragon_Rider instructions protontricks 1076160 -q dotnet48 d3dcompiler_47 Install WebView2 runtime Use winecfg to set up mswebview2 to windows 7
Cortex Command had Linux support, but the dev abandoned it. Still, if you choose to Force use Proton in the Properties window, it's install and run Ok.
Game rarely crashes when going back to the start menu or trying to load a save game. Dind't try GE, so maybe that fixes it.
Game sometimes crashes when I try to load a save game, never when saving, so no game time lost.
Game runs out of the box in my desktop computer with GPU, runs considerably slower in my laptop. Seems to me like a drivers issue.
Some cloud save games are corrupted, bug happens in Windows too.
Low framerate with Proton 5.09, better performance with Proton 4.11
Launcher runs, but play button won't work (same as other reports here)
You need to edit a .bat file to get it working in either Windows or Linux, once you apply the workaround everything runs ok.
Game fails to launch in Windows too. There's a workaround editing a .bat file, which also works for Linux if you double check the paths point to the right directories ie Z:/
Crash on start. Tried running protontricks win7 since I read it was stable on windows 7, but no luck.
Game won't start. Tried different Proton versions and a couple of launch options, no success.
Game runs beautifully ootb. I don't have a HOTAS joystick, so I didn't get to test that. Amazing game, hope more ppl play it.
Minor crackling
Only runs with Proton 4.11-13, newer versions are broken, older versions prompts for CD key (prob. not detecting steam dll)
Minor crackling
I get a black screen after the studio's logo.
Tried a bunch of runtime launch options, no esync, use wine3d, to no avail.
Game is unfinished, developer promised a native Linux version on release. Game runs Ok in proton.
Glitching in the lower part of the screen. Might be resolution related (2560x1080)
You can get better 3D acceleration if you install nGlide, but not really worth the effort, and might corrupt textures in non-dedicated GPU
If you enable 3D acceleration via nGlide you might have corrupted textures with Intel HD chipsets. Problem is not present with my nvidia GPU
Since last update (0.80) you can run with out disabling Esync or using Wine D3D11. Runs out of the box.
I'm using Glorious Eggroll's proton fork, no issues, some occasional fps drops but might be internet speed related.
I don't know if the lobbies were empty or if I wasn't connecting, but couldn't get on an online game. Will try again later.
Tries Glorious Eggroll fork and audio worked as expected.
Since last update I get an error mesage: Failed to open texture 'GRAPHICS\TEXTURES\DEFWHITE.BMP' E_INVALIDARG (0X80070057).
Game ran Ok, but broke with last update. Tryed some launch options and GE fork, but no luck. Bug reported here: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/3106
Game runs perfect out of the box. Played online matches. Had some lag but it was probably my slow(ish) internet connection.
Same as others, "failed to find Steam". Tried with Proton 7.01 and GE Proton 7-9, tried coping Steam.dll, no luck
thqno_overlay_disabled
3 crashes in 33 hours of game
Won't start, prompts a "Failed to start init" error message.
Game runs Ok with proton or Boxtron (https://github.com/dreamer/boxtron/) since it's a DOSBox app.
Some crackling, not too bad.
Low framerate.
Everything works fine ootb, just as other games based on the original Men of War (ie, not assault squad 2)
Games runs perfect out of the box, no tweaks needed. Video runs as expected as well.
Game runs ootb, but I get better fps disabling Esync
Some choppines, no big deal. Solved by disabling Esync.
Runs out of the box. You can install nGlide using wineprefix to get way better graphics.
I'm using Glorious Eggroll Proton fork. Set graphics to "high" (not highest) and disabled anti-alias, as suggested on this thread.
Some rare and minor glitches in the horizon on the campaign map.
Slight stuttering when entering some areas.
Game runs perfect out-of-the-box for me. I tried disabling Esync and using Wine D3d11, as recommended in this thread, and it felt a little faster but no big difference.
Game runs out of the box. I experience a little lag but I think it's due poor optimization, game is still in early access.
There's some very short freezes and lags, present in Windows as well
For some reason, the game fails to install a registry key, so you need to manually install it either via Protontricks (Kreastr posted instructions in this thread) or Winetricks.
If you use Winetricks.
- Install and run the game for the 1st time.
- Choose "no" when the error message informing of the missing regkey appears.
- Download this file https://gist.githubusercontent.com/Kreastr/d294a0fab332b1a3cf820dabcc60b1b1/raw/c1328c7570724fa94738f6f60b3af36ae6fe5b81/parkan_default.reg Thanks Kreastr!
- Open a terminal in /home/USERNAME/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata or wherever you have Steam installed.
- Run WINEPREFIX="$(realpath ./289400/pfx/)" winetricks regedit
- Use the GUI to import parkan_default.reg
And that's it, you're ready to go. I've played about 2 hours and everything seems to run nice.
Alt-tab made my computer crash.
Borked. Crashes after starting screen. Tried different proton versions and launch options without success.
idk if PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 has any effect, older games tend to run better with it. Other than the fullscreen issues everything runs Ok.
PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1
For a reason mate panel show with fullscreen, and buttons click area is slightly moved down, matching the pixels the panel takes. Docky pops up when my cursor crosses it's wakeup zone
The game runs Ok OftB. I haven't tried multiplayer, idk if I can't connect to the main server or if it's always empty, prob. the first.
Game runs perfectly out of the box. In addition to the hour I played, I played about 40 minutes of the Demo version.
Game runs perfectly. It comes with 2 different versions, the "Classic" and the "collector's CD", the second one lags badly, but the Classic one runs perfect. Great game, would love to see a more "native" version since it runs via DOSBox.
Game will crash w/o a controller connected, but runs perfect. I have still to play multiplayer, so I can only vouch for the single player missions.
Runs Ok ootb.
Crashes in my laptop with integrated video, runs Ok in my PC with dedicated GPU. Seems driver related, more than hardware.
Works ok after applying protontricks gdiplus and corefonts. Read other posts in this tread.
protontricks gdiplus & protontricks corefonts
Game stop running so I edited both line to "false" in direct2d.txt as adviced on this thread and everything ran Ok. I also did protontricks
corefonts gdiplus
Game ran Ok out of the box, no tinkering necessary. No glitches or slowness or crackling.
Game won't launch. Other games by same dev run Ok (Steel Armor) Tried protontricks and launch options, but no luck.
Would appreciate help running this on Linux.
Game ran Ok, probl would run with vanilla Proton. Game crashes occasionaly, same as Windows
Had to enable Steam input
Occasional crashes, same as Windows
Glorious Eggroll custom proton, played campaign, movies played Ok. Tried multiplayer, no problems connecting to servers, but all empty.
Proton-5.11-GE-1-MF GloriousEggroll
Glorious Eggroll custom Proton
I get a black screen. Tried the game with a nVidia 1080 GPU, 440 drivers and intelHD 520. Didn't perform further tinkering.
Disabling ESYNC and manually changing resolution get the game working. Sadly, as other reviews say, explosions and bullet FX are missing. Supreme Commander with out explosions is like a taco with out salsa, even if it's a full meal, there's no flavor.
(If anyone get the FX fully working, please share workaround, I'm still tweaking proton to see if I can fix it)
Game plays a little clunky, performance gets better with no ESYNC and diabling D3D11
Crackling went away by selecting no D3D11
Game is slow in panning and zooming
No sound FX, only music. It totally breaks the game for me.
No sound fx, only music
I've run this game with several versions of Proton, in 2 different systems (one with an nVidia GPU and prop drivers, the other with intelHD and open source drivers) and it always runs perfect out of the box. No character problems in English on my side.
Works perfect, no tinkering needed. Recognized loghitech F310 but not logitech extreme pro 3D
Everything runs OOTB, didn't notice any mouse input lag. Played 2 campaign missions and a 1 hour skirmish. Had some minor glitches with maps smaller than my desktop (ie, first campaign missions/tutorials)
Game ran out of the box, no disabling ESYNC needed. Mouse and controller (logitech f310) detected flawlessly.
I played 45 minutes. Everything but the campaign played ok. Might be more stable with further tinkering.
The OGRE EXCEPTION(3:RenderingAPIException): Failed to create Direct3D9 Device: bug is also present in Windows. Used the same workaround, ie, editing in my desktop resolution in the config.ini file.
Doesn't detect the axis of my xbox controller, only the buttons.
It crashes when I try to start the campaign, but all other gamemodes work ok.
Everything works fine for a while, then the GUI stops responding to the mouse clicks (cursor moves normally).
After a few minutes in game GUI becomes unresponsive. Can't finish tutorial.
Game runs great. I've had 2 crashes and sometimes the audio muzzles itself, but as far as I know those bugs are also present in Windows.
