Disabled the CRT filter.
Enabling back grip buttons is important to never let go of the A button.
Used trackpad instead of left stick to waggle for catching fish. Back Grip buttons to advance dialog with one hand.
Audio missing on headphones once when waking up from sleep. Reboot fixed this.
Rebound nearly everything as the default control scheme is awful (a twin-stick controlled game that requires you to use face buttons for everything).
Launching the game on High results in an unfixable 15fps until the game is restarted.
Regular stutter with FPS dropping from 60 to 57 every 10-20 seconds while nowhere near peak utilization, but nothing that prohibits from enjoying the game.
Some text is small, but not really important for playing.
High settings run at a fairly stable 60FPS. Medium settings, 45FPS, 1280x800 works well with 10W TDP.
L4 to run. R4 to aim.
45FPS Medium. 10W TDP.
Has issues on Windows too.
An acceptable way to play the game, and maybe if this is all you know the frame dips won't bother as much. But if you can play this on a PC with a rock solid 60fps it is a far superior experience, as the ability to react realiably in tough fights is crucially important.
The game might even be better on the deck with its suspend function, as it doesn't normally allow saving in arcade mode.
Runs absolutely perfectly on default settings. Can achieve 90fps even while limiting TDP to 7W or below.
The already pixelated text can look a bit smudgy at times.
I recommend not fullscreening the game but rather using the 2x mode to preserve sharp pixels.
Binding A and Y to L4 and L5 allows playing mostly one-handed.
800p Max graphics. FPS stays at 90 during menus, fights and story scenes. Dips to between 60 and 90 in the open world depending on locations.
Low graphics preset for FPS closer to 60. Dips in some of the open world sections but not terribly.
Bit of a janky game, but it's the same on Windows so nothing proton related.
Using the default (med-high) Steam Deck graphical settings the game runs at ~80 FPS depending on the amount of effects on screen. No bugs.
Works fantastically. The legacy release is a lifesaver for a game notorious to get running on modern hardware.
The game is intended to be played with a mouse, so you'll mostly be using the trackpad. Designed for low resolutions originally, so the deck screen size doesn't hurt.
Excellent solitaire game with variety.
Not that demanding, so runs great even on a laptop not intended for gaming.
Can't quite reach a stable 90fps, so I capped it to 60 for consistency. As a game it is the perfect fit for the Deck.
I have heard that large bases such as those in multiplayer can be hard on the CPU, but so far I haven't encountered any significant slow down. Good controls for the Deck.
After several hours (6+) and multiple hibernations, the FPS gradually starts to drop. Relaunching the game fixes this.
800p Med settings. FPS around 80.
