Runs great out of the box!
This game is running a lot better under Proton than it ever did for Windows. On Windows, I would frequently get reduced framerate specifically in Mafia Town, however under Proton on the highest settings, it's running at a nice and smooth 60 fps with no drops. I even got to testing it on the spaceship spawning a bunch of roulette tokens on a temporary save. Got to 78 spawned before my framerate reached below 45 fps, compared to Windows which could only handle 53 and my framerate would be sitting at 27.
Workshop mods, naturally, work just fine, and it even has no problem downloading saved games from the cloud automatically.
I had an incident where my game went from a solid 60 fps to chugging at 8 fps after playing back a video on the TV. I dropped all of my graphics settings to low, and it hasn't done it since
When a friend of mine exited the lobby and started a fresh one, upon joining, I was stuck floating outside the map missing some O2 and HP, and I had to restart the game to fix it
The game performed surprisingly well despite the issues I've mentioned earlier. When I launched it without forcing Proton Experimental though, it popped up with the error "Failed to authenticate with Steam." Switching to Experimental fixed this with no launch options needed
Was able to play it perfectly fine on my system, didn't run into any issues with audio like others have mentioned
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="dinput8=n,b" %command%
Some audio glitches related to the "Independence FM" station, dunno if that's just because of the game or if it's related to Proton usage
Game had issues with alt-tabbing while in fullscreen mode, had to force it to restart in order to get it into windowed mode
Launching it from steam without tinkering left the game unable to start entirely. It would pop up with the "Windows 7 and Windows 8 are no longer supported" message, meaning I had to manually change the version of "Windows" the prefix was using. After that it started up just fine. Works great with FusionFix

Would run at 60 FPS at steam deck quality on Windows. Doesn't even reach 60 fps on the lowest on Ubuntu
I find it pretty unfortunate that this game will not go to 60 FPS no matter what. It reaches 59, and that's as high as it'll go on the lowest settings which still leaves the game feeling pretty stuttery. There are probably things I can do with Protontricks but I'm not sure what all I'd need to do
Followed this optimization guide: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3302281330
Can't use the "Quality" rendering scale like I can on Windows, I have to use "Balanced" to get 60 FPS
After some tinkering with the config file and some settings, the game runs perfectly fine now. Before I wasn't able to even get 60 FPS at all, and now I can get up to 83 FPS uncapped. Definitely doesn't perform as well as it does on Windows, at least for me, but as long as it reaches 60 FPS, I'm happy with it
Ran flawlessly. No significant issues at all
Honestly works better than it did on Windows. Before on Windows, it CTD'd almost instantly. Now I'm actually able to play the game, although I have been told Chapter 5 bugs out. I'm not there yet so I'll see what happens
gamemoderun %command%
Audio wouldn't work for the first minute the game was open, then suddenly started working
Freezing at random
Takes a while to join a friend's lobby, sometimes freezes mid-game
Ensure you don't have any controllers plugged in if you play on mouse and keyboard
When I initially played the game, I was not able to use my left mouse button to interact with certain things and I was constantly sprinting.
If you have issues using your left mouse button or being unable to stop sprinting, try making sure you don't have any controllers plugged in as well. In my case, my guitar hero controller was preventing me from being able to use flashlights, unlock doors, crouch and walk at the same time, and I couldn't stop sprinting no matter what, and unplugging my controller was what fixed it
Runs great out of the box
Didn't have any issues at all just opening the game and playing it. Performance was perfectly fine the entire time, and the game played as normal. I'm just glad I didn't have to open Battle net through Lutris lol
Works perfectly fine out of the box
Not much to say about it. It works just fine out of the box without the need for any tinkering at all (unlike some games I know.) Performs about as well as it does on Windows, too
Runs perfectly fine out of the box
Using Mouse and Keyboard, the game becomes choppy while looking around in Mementos (I have yet to test this in other areas though.) Using controller however, the game performs perfectly fine, no stuttering or choppiness to be seen.
Aside from looking around with mouse and keyboard being choppy, the game performs extremely well with my controller. It even goes so far as to outperform itself than it did on Windows, although given I have all AMD hardware, it's not hard to see why. On Windows, I couldn't even run the game at 120 FPS no matter how I adjusted my settings, however here it's a completely different story. I was able to crank up my resolution scale all the way up to 200% and still maintain 60 FPS at all times, something I had trouble doing on Windows as it would often drop below 40 FPS. Overall, if you have a graphics card that can utilize DXVK, you'll have an excellent time playing this game regardless of distro

Occasionally, some shadows in the distance will flicker
Sometimes has issues with input latency, can be fixed by just closing and re-opening the game
These launch options are required for me to maintain 60 FPS with Vulkan. If I use DirectX 12, the game CTD's on launch, and it refuses to hit 50 FPS without these launch options for some reason.
Other than that, it's surprisingly stable and runs pretty good; better than it did on Windows
Has a few stability issues with Steam Overlay and Launch Options. Generally playable otherwise
Using the latest Proton version or even experimental, the game has a significant amount of artifacting on the main menu and in-game. Proton GE 7-43 seems to work fine for me though
Using Steam overlay or setting launch options results in a CTD once the game loads up. Deleting launch options and disabling steam overlay for the game allows it to function however, and you can join friends by having the game in windowed mode and manually checking your messages with them on Steam
Slight bit of lag when playing online, no idea how to fix it but it's still generally playable
Game worked perfectly fine with local multiplayer, although technically, I've only ever gone against the AI when playing local
This game tends to have a lot of issues with the new UI for Steam. The only way I've found to get Steam Overlay to work in a stable manner is to use big picture mode, and even then, sometimes that doesn't work. The only real surefire way to make sure the game works is to not set launch options and disable Steam Overlay, instead joining by manually checking your messages with your friend on Steam if you decide to play online. The only other crashes that have ever occurred are some workshop characters not playing nice (pretty standard for this game) and sometimes the game throwing an "Out of Memory" error that I have yet to figure out the cause of
PROTON_NO_D3D11=1 %command%
Edited the rocksmith.ini file like so:
[Audio] EnableMicrophone=0 ExclusiveMode=0 LatencyBuffer=0 ForceDefaultPlaybackDevice= ForceWDM=0 ForceDirectXSink=0 DumpAudioLog=0 MaxOutputBufferSize=0 RealToneCableOnly=0 MonoToStereoChannel=0 Win32UltraLowLatencyMode=0
Also added the Rocksmith USB Adapter as an input device in winecfg and disabled it elsewhere system-wide and added the D3DX9_42.dll file for CDLC support
The audio had some weird latency issues, the fix for which was mentioned earlier (specifically editing the line LatencyBuffer= to equal 0 instead of 4)
The Rocksmith USB Adapter wasn't detectable by the game until I disabled it system-wide, only enabling it as an input device in winecfg. I think disabling exclusive mode also helped, but I'm not entirely sure
Without tinkering, the latency almost makes the game unplayable as a lot of the notes you hit simply aren't detected or count as "Late." It's also completely unplayable without tinkering with the settings for the Rocksmith USB Adapter unless you decide to use your standard mic for it
Sometimes the Steam overlay will not show up, or sometimes, attempting to use it can result in crashing. I have yet to figure out why this happens
Steam overlay-related issues only. Online worked fine otherwise
Local Multiplayer worked perfectly fine
Aside from Steam overlay not cooperating sometimes, this game is ridiculously fun, and honestly runs a little better than it did on Windows, particularly during reversal edges. It's even moddable on Linux without the use of a tool like Vortex
Runs great, no tweaks needed!
Some areas had lower framerates than expected, but resolved themselves quickly. Game generally runs above 120 fps most of the time on high settings.
I'm a bit of a star wars fan so when I heard this game existed, my first thought was "please run under Proton." To my surprise (and maybe not surprise) the game runs almost flawlessly. When you first start the game there may be areas that will temporarily reduce the framerate, but given the game's age, it's to be expected. I've played the game for roughly 15.2 hours under Proton and I've been having a lot of fun with it.
Isn't working for me
On first install it ran just fine, however after accepting a game invite from a friend, for some reason it's now refusing to even let me in. Yesterday I kept getting the Kiwibeard error, now I'm getting the Lavenderbeard error, and I have no way to sign into a different account, any time I hit "sign out" then try to hit "play game" it doesn't prompt me to log into a different account, and restarting the game after signing me out just automatically signs me back in.
Perfectly playable on Linux with one slight issue
EAC will sometimes not let you into the game. Usually this can be resolved by just restarting the game
Slight EAC issues, easily resolvable though
As mentioned before, there are times where EAC will just not let you into the game, however I've found that just simply restarting the game when this happens will usually allow you back into the game. I myself use desktop mode as I don't have a VR headset yet, but I imagine it should work the same
Game struggles to stay at 60 FPS, opting to hover around 45 - 50 fps, and dropping significantly when recording the game with OBS or streaming it to a friend in Discord
I could honestly see myself playing this game a lot more if the framerate were more stable. It has a lot of cool concepts that I think a Windows user would enjoy, but playing it on Linux may not be viable at this time unless the game can be capped to 30 FPS
