Other than the shader cache compiling, this played great.
Some stuttering/slowdown as the shader cache compiled.
Much better than the native version; no stuttering
Received a Fatal Error the first time I booted the game. After that, it ran fine.
Played online with a friend, who was playing from a Windows computer. Buttery smooth experience all around.
gamemoderun PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 %command%
It crashed regularly on anything other than Experimental.
As of now, Experimental's the best way to play. The NVAPI launch option is all you need to enable DLSS.
Other than the Start screen video not playing, This works perfectly.
Video at the Start Screen did not play. Everything else was flawless.
Other than Alt-Tab not working, this worked great. No issues in performance or gameplay.
Alt-Tab caused my system to lock up.
The game would not detect the trigger buttons on my Xbox 360. I haven't tested with other controllers, or verified if this persists on Windows.
The game supports DirectX and OpenGL. It runs great on both.
PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 gamemoderun %command%
Stuttering from shader caching. Once it cleared, the game ran smoothly.
Use the NVAPI command to enable DLSS.
Turned off Steam Overlay
The only issue I ran into was the game freezing if I tried to launch the Steam Overlay. I turned it off just so I wouldn't see the CD key prompt. Otherwise, no issues.

The game runs with Proton, But you'll see a black screen in lieu of some videos. Use GE-Proton to fix this.
TO INSTALL GE-PROTON: Install ProtonUp-QT and select the version of GE-Proton you wish to install from there.
Xbox Live Sign-in Error prevents loading past splash menu
The game runs both with or without EAC. When you press 'Enter' at the menu, an error is produced regarding Xbox Live sign-in. The game can't load the login portal, causing the error. Sign-in is mandatory and, as of this writing, can't be bypassed.
Disabling Esync is not necessary, but it improves performance.
proton-ge-custom from Glorious Eggroll has a fix for the Xbox Live sign-in error.

Max resolution at fullscreen always dropped to 1920x800. Running the game borderless fixed this.
Occasional dips in framerate, presumably during loads
Played the game from beginning to end with no problems, just like how I remembered it on PS3.
When changing the resolution, the display appeared as if my bottom panel was still appearing. A restart cleared this.
gamemoderun PROTON_HIDE_NVIDIA_GPU=0 PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 %command%
Plays just like it did on Windows. Played Initiative and War for Wakanda without problems.
Ran just like it did on Windows. Setting SMAA above 0.5 still tanks the performance
Original save game seems to have disappeared; played the native version years ago.
The game ran effortlessly.
The mf-install fix might be a tripping point for some. Otherwise, This is a solid recommend.
Download the master zip from this link and follow the instructions in README.

NOTES
*Make sure you run the game at least once before running the install-mf-64 script. This will ensure the directory the script eventually looks for is created.
*Your path to the compatdata folder may differ from what is listed in the instruction. For example, mine was located at /home/user/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata
*The game does run without this fix. However, the game will get stuck when you reach a cutscene that's not rendered in-game. If you start the game at the beginning, you will reach one of these cutscenes after the intro gas station sequence.
The game supports both DirectX11 and DirectX12. It will run under DX12, but I noticed a significant drop in framerates on the main menu alone. DX11, on the other hand, is completely stable.
Cinematic aside, this ran perfectly for me from the beginning and has been doing so.
The opening cinematic that plays when you start a new character doesn't play; all that shows up is a white screen. This can be skipped by pressing 'esc.'
Other than the stuttering after a new map is loaded, the game runs great. Both campaign and multiplayer work without issue.
The game stutters on each new map. Possible caching issue. Usually subsides in under a minute.
Framerates were halved when anti-aliasing was turned up. I recommend turning it off completely
I only played through the first level, but the game recognized my previous save with no issues. The game was very stable and incredibly smooth.
Disabled Steam Overlay
Steam overlay was causing Vulkan to crash. Doom was having the same problem. Once I disabled it, it worked. The latest Steam update provided a fix for this, so it may no longer be necessary to disable. Otherwise, the game ran flawlessly from beginning to end.
