The report about deleting proton data does fix the Windows 10 required issue, and everything seems fine.
The button prompts are broken, but plugging in a controller and disabling Steam input, and then selecting the controller with trackpad fixes that too.

From the small bits played it plays really well on the deck. Aside from the button icon issues and the crackling a small tweak can fix it.
PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=60
Disabled Gyro
30 FPS cap
Changing protons will throw you an error saying that you need windows 10 to play the game. By clearing the compatibility data and reopening the game with the default proton provided by valve fixes this issue.
Use PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=60 to get rid of it
Steam deck doesnt show the icons, you need the xbox style community layout and steam input disabled if you want to be on the go
Don't ever change the proton.

SteamDeck= %command%
"Marvel's Avengers requires Windows 10 to run" is the pop up I get when I try to launch it. Default Proton, experimental, hotfix, GE 7-55 9-4 and 9-5. I tried "SteamDeck=0 %command%" and that was pointless too. FFS, and I had just found out about the system to get button prompts... in fairness nowadays it's marked as unsupported.

Everything works out-of-the-box so far (~ 8 hours of play of solo campaign)

Cap FPS to 30.
Button prompts didn't show up during tutorials, menus or QTEs. Fixed disabling Steam Input.
As mentioned, button prompts don't appear. You generally can play without them, but you'll find trouble later with QTEs.
To fix button prompts, I followed the guide here: https://indiefaq.com/steam-deck/marvels-avengers-the-definitive-edition-steam-deck-controller-fix.html To sum it up, you need to disable Steam Input, but you can't do it straight away on a Steam Deck. You need to plug an external controller, disable Steam Input, then you can unplug it. The game should detect the Deck as an XBOX controller and use those button prompts.
Other than that, I'm playing it 720p with medium quality settings and a 30 FPS cap to save battery. No other tinkering, not even changing Proton version.

The controller icons will not appear by default. To make the controller icons appear in-game, do the following:
- Connect a controller to the Steam Deck (via blutooth is OK)
- Select the game icon (do not launch)
- Click on the controller icon to open the controller settings
- Set controller type to Gamepad with Joystick Trackpad
- Press the LB/RB bumper button to select the newly selected controller
- Next to Edit Layout, click on the gear icon
- Click on Disable Steam Input > The controller can now be disconnected
Note: This was tested using the Steam Deck in portable mode. Unsure it works when playing docked.
Sometimes, graphic corruption will appear during cutscenes at the very top of the screen.
Tinkering required

Controller icons will not appear in-game by default. To make the controller icons appear, do the following:
- Connect another controller to the Steam Deck (via Blutooth is OK)

The controller can now be disconnected and the in-game button prompts will appear. Note: This was tested in portable mode - may not work when playing in docked mode.
Sometimes, during cutscenes, slight graphical distortion is present at the top of the screen.

Binded the E and F keys to trackpack clicks for specific secuencies
Steam Deck undervolted -30/-30/-30
Text is too small, not button prompts
Small delay in sound
Slow downs when multiple enemies
Runs but needs a lot of work

gamemoderun VKD3D_DISABLE_EXTENSIONS=VK_KHR_present_id,VK_KHR_present_wait DXVK_ASYNC=1 PROTON_HIDE_NVIDIA_GPU=0 PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=60 %command% -nolauncher
No audio in cinematic cutscenes (in-engine is fine), some crackling before adding PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=60 launch option.
Occasional slowdowns, but stays above 60 FPS on my hardware
With a little tinkering, the game runs well. The main menu runs at a very low framerate and audio is missing from certain custscenes (subtitles ON are recommended), but the gameplay is smooth and stutter-free with occasional, minor framedrops when lots of explosions are on screen. With that said, I can maintain a solid 80-100 FPS most of the time with dips as low as ~65 on Very High settings, Ultra textures/LOD, and DLSS enabled (Quality setting). I can get a smoother experience with the settings dropped a bit. An SSD is definitely needed. Overall, it's not perfect, but definitely very playable when in game.

Research indicates that DirectX 11 is to blame for this, since the game's DX11 backend was experimental, and abandoned after a short time. I have yet to find an option to force Proton to use DX12.

Adjusted controls to use triggers for aiming and attacking. Gyro to help fine tune aiming.
Controls well, but in-game button prompts are disabled so you have to guess/rely on memory.
Black screen with audio after campaign video intro ended. Turned off FSR and it worked.
Tried serveral versions of Proton, Proton Experimental, and GE Proton with no success, game launchs but crashes before the first menu.
Refuses to start saying that it failed to connect the login server

Runs great, no audio or graphical issues. Fun game to pass some time.
The game runs fine. At least as well as it does on Windows. It's always had the occassional crash.
Occassionally when a character is talking during a fight, the volume of that character's voice increases. After a short time, it goes back to normal.
Crashed to desktop once over the course of several days of playing. I don't think it's any more of an issue than it is with Windows.
Once during a Wakanda storyline cut scene, the video was dragging horribly, but the audio wasn't having any issues at all. Not sure if this is a problem unique to Linux or not since I've never played that part of the game on Windows. However, it only happened once.
The game runs fine. I didn't see any issues that are any different than something that could happen running on Windows. The game plays just the same to me. There are occassional glitches, but this game has those same types of glitches running on Windows.
The game runs well now since the devs have removed Denuvo, it's more stable, playable and enjoyable i haven't encountered any crash since.
Playable on Steam Deck if you don't select Avengers Inititive from the title screen and not mind seeing the controller icons.
Some UI text on the War Table such as the power-level requirements noted on the mission thumbnails.
The controller is detected and works, however, no controller icons appear throughout the game's UI.
Selecting "Avengers Initiative" at the title screen will put the game into a loading screen and then crash out to SteamOS. You can easily bypass this to go online by entering the game through any Operations mode, then access the War Table to access any online Avengers Inititive mission.
Played five multiplayer game sessions and their performance was similar to PC performance.

gamemoderun PROTON_HIDE_NVIDIA_GPU=0 PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 %command%
Plays just like it did on Windows. Played Initiative and War for Wakanda without problems.
Runs great with little to know issues. Occasional visual glitch but that might be part of the gameplay. Running with Proton Experimental

Ran several short missions, the OLT and Klaw Raid. Performed well.
Audio issues on the final boss in Klaw raid. I've experienced similar issues on WIndows.
Significant frame drops in windowed fullscreen mode. Exclusive fullscreen fixed this for me.
When opening the launcher and when entering the game, an error pops up saying that the game cannot locate a graphics card. I hit OK and ignored these errors, was able to play just fine.
I also disabled tessellation, after reading reports of issues here. Did not check to confirm whether or not that is still the case.
Tried the Wakanda storyline and everything worked fine out of the box.
In the Wakanda storyline, the sound was missing while the cinematics but was back again as soon as the actual game scene started.

Black screen on launch, complains about no GPU detected if I tell it to use Nvidia GPU
Using GE-6.20-2, get black screen no matter what. If I specify my Nvidia GPU, it claims no GPU detected then complains about out of date drivers (currently running latest). If I use my integrated GPU, it starts without error, but still get a black screen.
Use protontricks 997070 winecfg
to change the windows version to "Windows 10" to get rid of the "Requires windows 10" message.
The game will attempt to start but crash shortly after attempting to switch to fullscreen.
In order to get rid of this, add a dxvk.conf
file in the game directory that contains dxgi.nvapiHack = True
Blurred or lightning bloom effects sometimes cause displaced TressFX effects.

Refuses to start
The game refuses to start with the message "Marvel's Avengers requires windows 10 to run"
Game is working again, and plays very smoothly. So far no issues anywhere.
Game runs pretty smoothly (right now at least)
Used Proton-6.20-GE-1 and had no issues when playing single player
There are some performance issues, but they seem to be the same with Windows. Turn off vsync, use AMD FidelityFX FSR + DRS for a steady framerate.
Using Proton Experimental, the game will launch but crashes shortly after at the disclaimer screen.
Have to use Proton-GE
The game crash at the disclaimers
War for Wakanda update has the game crash at the disclaimers

Proton-6.14-GE-1 GloriousEggroll
Cutscenes are almost universally broken. You can sometimes skip them and get to the game but more often than not it just hangs at the end of the cutscene, forcing a restart.
Something with the cutscenes, no matter what version I use, causes crashes
On startup it mentions that my GPU isn't detected and not up to date. It runs slightly better if you turn off tesselations.

The game doesn't start
I can get into the menu, but the game won't start

It's playable with Proton GE 6.13 but has some texture problems.
Textures sometimes missing or loading too late.
Only run with ProtonGE 6.13

I'd stay away from this for now. Needs a lot of fixes.
Bizarre texture stuttering.
Always gets stuck after the bridge scene, with infinitely looping audio.
Issues with recognizing graphics card, giving warnings for out of date drivers that aren't out of date.

The freezes on the first cutscene, no matter what i tried to do.
It only got ingame using ProtonGE 6.13

textures take time to show correctly
At the bus scene the game crashes you need to press skip or turn off tessellation
after hank pym gives you his first mission the game crashes when you are at the loading ship
Even i tried to play on low settings with lot of features off it won't pass the loading ship to start the mission
This game needs to be fixed it still needs some fixes to be playable on linux

It's not playable.
Installation works just fine. After that it complains about bad/missing graphics. A Window launches for a short time and just crashes again.
