Gameplay is just fine at 30fps aside from occasional stuttering
Framerates were halved when anti-aliasing was turned up. I recommend turning it off completely
I only played through the first level, but the game recognized my previous save with no issues. The game was very stable and incredibly smooth.
I started the game with the Linux native version. I could play it, but often, during level loading, the game would freeze. Eventually the game was always freezing while loading the level "Smoke lake". I tried forcing Proton 7.0-3, but this time the game was crashing on loading such level. Then I tried version 5.13-6 and the level finally loaded succesfully. With version 5.13-6 I was able the complete the whole game without any other issues.
Native version crashes randomly, proton version (6.3-7 and/or 6.20-GE-1) crashes when loading the level after Titan Rock.
Crashes after the Titan Rock level. Unable to finish the game.
Anisotropic filtering was really bad with Proton.
The Linux native version is broken. You will not be able to advance past the intro region. The game works on well on Proton and I was able to complete it because of it. There was a small, but noticeable anisotropic issue on Proton that I did not see during my time trying the native port. Assuming you can stomach that the game will be a rather enjoyable experience - relatively speaking, you still need to like the game.
Just found out that the instability i mentioned in my last report was a hardware failure, the proton layer is working perfect
The proton version runs a lot faster than the native one, but it's lot more unstable.
The game freezes often after 20min of gameplay
Better than playing the Linux native build.
I originally decided to play this in Proton because the Linux native build has poor performance and is plagued with some severe bugs that will never be fixed. It is known to crash when transitioning between levels and also has some controller issues as well. In Proton, I get about 20fps higher framerate and the 2 bugs I mentioned are resolved by this as well.
